  • @MrBen51309 most likely the bottom quarter of them

  • That's not just a cut. That's a cut with a bruise around it. Happened to me in grade cticket. Hurt like a bitch. Imagine at the pace of harmison.

  • Don't like Ponting at all.

    Respect him enormously.

  • as an aussie never understood resentment others felt against ponting. In top 3 batsmen of our generation (behind sachin, and I'd say equal at least to lara), ferocious competitor and tough as fuck. Batted, and scored well, many times with broken ribs and/or fingers. Only now realising others havn't appreciated that tough ferocity, and maybe how that comes across. However would prefer someone constantly wearing his heart on his sleeve, than say a chris gayle wearing diamonds in his ears

  • The ball hit Tony Grieg's car keys and smacked Ponting in the head. The good news is that now Tony gets to drive home tonight.

  • Tough bugger!

  • @longie1201 we'd been second best for 20 odd years - welcome to our world, feel the pain, Oz will be second rate for a decade or more now. And re the 0-5..you'd struggle too if you lost players of the calibre of jones, trescothick, vaughn (our captain ffsakes!) we were thrashed but it's now your turn my friend :) 3 in 4 soon to be 4 in 5!

  • God, that guy's made of steel! Nice to see though! ;)

  • Ponting is as tough as fuck, just acting like it was nothing before he found out it had cut him.

  • is the ball okay?

  • This ball showed that us englisman meant business in that series.

  • Knowing Harmison's accuracy, he was probably aiming for the stumps.

  • @MrBen51309 Yes, I think Harmison planned anything but a bouncer.

  • @MrBen51309 I was drinking a glass of water. And you sir just made me spit a little bit on my laptop because that was so funny

  • @MrBen51309 now i have seen some funny comments before, but that takes the cake, funny and just so fucken true.

  • Im a Pom, and I like Ponting. A true great player.

  • @truthoutmedia I agree but he's a bit of a whinger and lost them the Ashes three times, including our latest 3-1 truimph down under... but I won't be complaining! ;)

  • @MultiBubbleburst

I don't see why a single player should be blamed for a series loss. You see australias problem atm is its interchange time, all good players have retired and are now waiting for young guys to come through. Therefor Australia will never be weaker than last year for the next 15 years, they are already climbing back up the ladder with a new team, they just decimated sri lanka, you wait they will be destroying england in the ashes in 5 years.

  • Say what you want about Ponting but he's a very hard lad.

  • Comment removed

  • This is the one thing Harmisson openly regrets... that he didnt ask if the aussie skipper was ok...

  • i hated this guy ever from the border-gavaskar 08 test series where he cheated over and over again. The only Aus player i like is Adam Gilchrist who is a true cricketer and sportsman. who walks in a world cup semi-final? Adam does

  • ponting has changed :O i remember his swearing at jagawal srinath lol

  • He got hit worse in 2009 iirc, right in the kisser, i saw him spitting out blood and bits of teeth, gum and allsorts. Took it like a man and just got on with it. Earned my respect that day, whatever i think about his petulance on the field.

  • Ponting holds the record for the Aussie captain who has lost ashes series the most time.

Shame - he's a good player, but Aussies now carrying 4 very average players every time an 11 walks out as well as others who are too inconsistent. Him, Hussey and Watson and now and then Johnson are the only world class players in the side now. Ponting and Hussey are ancient as well.

  • Check out the book 'The Ashes, 1945-2005, A Complete Record' by Tony Wagtar

  • aravida silva was the best player of hook shot and pull shot , i never seen he missing a short ball

  • @redmez wtf sangakkara averages 57+

  • what ever you say about Ponting he is a great player and an absolute warrior.

  • nastyyy

  • Take's it like a man, compare this to modern footballers rolling around from a tiny knock which is nothing compared to the knocks you'll get in cricket. And most players will just take the blow.

  • @redmez I don't know what you are trying to imply, but I am pretty much sticking to what I said earlier, that Ponting is one of the greatest batsmen ever, almost at par with Sachin, Hammond, Lara, Richards, Sobers. Kallis is an excellent batsman, just like the others you mentioned, but they have holes in their careers, which preclude their inclusion in this elite list.

  • @redmez Sorry. What I meant to say was that Kallis is a great all-rounder, but not a great batsman. If you cannot stay long enough to hit double and triple tons, how can you be great? Test Cricket is the ultimate test of batsmanship because it test's a batsman's endurance and resilience. Likewise if you cannot score in Australia and England, how can you be great? These are not chinks but holes, and that's why they, while fabulous, are not great like Lara, Ponting, Hammond, Chappell, Sachin, etc.

  • @redmez And as for Kallis, he has this unbelievable metronomic consistency, no doubt. But test cricket is about scoring mamoth tons, right? Something which always detracts from Sachin's career. Look at Lara-400, 375, 277, 226, etc. (9 double tons), that too against sides like Australia, consisting of bowlers like Mcgrath and Warne, in grounds like Perth and Sydney. Whereas look at Kallis, a lone double ton in his entire career. That too some 210 odd score. But he is still a great test batsman.

  • @redmez which justifies them being called the greatest ever, while the ones you mentioned, while excellent, are somehow shy of. Unless you score runs against the best opponents, in the toughest of conditions like the bouncy tracks of Africa and Australia, spinning tracks of India and Lanka, swing conducive tracks of England, and that too consistently, why should you be different? And sorry dude, I forgot to mention Lara. He is greater than them all, next only to Bradman.

  • @redmez But just like Weekes, he averages miserably in the bouncy tracks of Australia or the erratic swing-conducive pitches of England. Pollock was fabulous, but he had played only 23 tests, and declaring him on basis of that is tantamount to have Hussey declared better than Bradman after 25 odd tests, when he averaged 100 plus. So my point is that all these batsmen are quality stuff, no doubt, but Ponting, Kallis, Richards, Tendulkar, Hammond, Chappell have everything in their armour

  • @redmez Forget Sangakkara. He is a giant bee in his own bee-hive, that is, he averages 63 in Lanka, but his average gainst Australia, England or averages in South Africa or England or India is pathetic. Forget Weekes. His records are phenomenal against teams like India, Pakistan, New Zealand, which in 50's were as strong as Zimbabwe is now. His averages against Australia and England is pathetic, his records in England and Australia are even more so. Walcott had fine records against Eng and Aus,

  • @redmez By the way, I forgot Hammond. If you say that Hammond, Richards, Chappell are greater than him, I will of course agree that it is quite possible. But as to the others, it cannot possibly be.

  • @redmez Sobers, Richards, Chappell indeed are of the highest caliber. Who denied that? What I meant that Ponting has done the same thing, in higher proportions, (as evidenced by 39 centuries). Don't bring Miandad to the mix. His average gainst the best bowling attack of his era-West Indies was only 29. As to the others, well, they are great, but Ponting, just as Tendulkar, trumps them in terms of sheer statistics.

  • @redmez So see, no luck trying to find points to detract from a batsman of his caliber. Believe me, he has weathered every possible kind of storm. James Anderson? 196 at Brisbane in 2006, 142 at Adelaide in 2006 (both in tandem with Hoggard, Flintoff, Harmisson and Giles), 150 at Cardiff in 2009. Zaheer Khan? 257 at Melbourne in 2003, 123 at Chennai in 2009. Muralitharan? 105 at Colombo in 1999, 92 at Colombo in 2004. What else do you require to accept him as a batsman of the highest pedigree?

  • @redmez And please, don't mention South Africa! His average against them is 57! Both innings century twice, 8 overall, he has scored too many tons against too many of the South Arican great bowlers- Pollock, Donald (105 at Melbourne, 1997), Ntini, Steyn (101 at Melbourne in 2008). He has scores like 120 and 143, 103 and 116 in the same test! Hope I have made my point. He also has a ton against Ambrose-Walsh, a 104 at K. Oval in 1999. So see, he has scored against each bowler you mentioned.

  • @redmez And mind you, Shoaib has played lesser tests not because of poor performance, but because of disciplinary and fitness issues, so a mammoth ton against him counts big time, not to be discounted. He has a classical 157 against a bowling attack of Bond, Cairns, Tuffey and Vettori at Hobart in 2001. Now Bond may have played even lesser number of tests, but he was a top-notch bowler, an avg of just 22 in tests and 20 in ODI. So a ton against him counts too, right?

  • @redmez I said I am an Indian because many guys tend to not take comments made by people from the same country as the player on the grounds that he is partial, even though he provides the facts right. I just declaimed that I am not so, and I am judging him neutrally. back to the point, Ponting has a belligerent 197 against Akram and Shoaib, that too in Perth in 97, a 141 against Younis and Shoaib in 2002 (Shoaib was at his peak then), a 207 against Shoaib and Asif at Sydney in 2005,

  • @redmez Excuse me, I beg to differ. I personally feel Ponting is one of the greatest batsmen ever, and he is indeed better than many of the batsmen you pointed at, like Pollock, Walcott, Weeks. They might have a better average than Ponting now, because Ponting has had a poor 2 year run now. But considering the number of tons he has amassed, and the diversity of bowling he has faced, he isn't much less than the others like Sobers, Hobbs, etc., if not equal. And I am an Indian, by the way.

  • funny

  • Ricky Pointing amazing cricketer!!! What must be the speed of the ball?! 140 Kmph+? The ball seems to be pitched on Good length, yet it bounced!!

  • haha ponting looks like a monkey

  • that sounded nice. not the first time ricky ponting has a ball strike his helmet..

  • this made me laugh so much. Ponting deserves any shit he gets. Cheating cunt.

  • @raggies14 Lets see how u could be as good as him

  • Hitting Ponting in the face is the only way to make him smile. 'Face like a smacked ass' is in some serious danger of replacement by 'pontingface'.

  • @redmez Do you know anything about cricket?

  • Ponting is a hard ass veteren. Hit in the face, ok. sort it out, got a game to win

  • fabulous stuff, never liked ponting. brave bugger though. three times ashes loser. HAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHHHAHHAHHAHHAAHAHA

  • @BarnabyJones101 but 2 times WC winner

  • @rmnsng who gives a shit about odi cricket? test cricket is proper cricket od is just the equivalent of 5 a side football, no one really cares.

  • @BarnabyJones101

has won more ashes trophies than you can count to five.

  • @BarnabyJones101 pumped you toothless poms 5 - 0 whitewash i would be more embarrassed about that than losing 3 times after we have had it for so many years

  • @longie1201 would you mate? really? 3 innings defeats at home? 100,000 people at the G at the start of boxing day, only the English fans left at the end. All out for under 100 and england 50 ahead without loss. Most embarrassing, one sided day in test cricket history. But you wouldn't have seen how shameful last summer was, I imagine you watched Siddle's hattrick and then pretty much turned off the TV and pretended it wasnt happening. Fair weather fans - Australians do it best.

  • @BarnabyJones101 Let's see you do any better. At least he can make a national team.

  • @BarnabyJones101 His side also beat England 5-0. but people tend to forget that now

  • i like ponting he's a tough character, a seasoned campaigner - maybe not the best captain, but he's done a good job nonetheless. one of the best of his generation.

  • FUCKIN PONTING CAN TAKE A SHOT, STILL NOT GET KOED

  • that is tough..gets hit stays up nd marks middle stump lol

  • It's not just about who has better strike rates. Ricky Ponting, since debuting in 1996, has made 12,333 runs, with 39 centuries, and an average of 53.85 out of 151 test matches. I don't know how your thinking process works, but that is pretty fucking outstanding. Considering he has also been captain for the last six years I think it is perfectly reasonable to compare Ponting to Bradman, Tendulkar, Hobbs, Pollock, Sobers, Lara, Border etc.

  • GOOD JOB MR.HARMISON. CAN ANYONE AIM AT HIS HEAD?

  • YOU COCKY COCK! YOU'LL PAY FOR YOUR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY!

  • i went crazy on like button

  • Pity he was wearing a helmet. :) the cocky piece of shit.

If you look for it there is YouTube footage of Ponting getting the ball in the teeth fielding close to the wicket from Matt Prior. Quality.

  • A chimp in a green hat. Seeing him bitch and moan the other day to strauss was a great moment. The little moaning shit.

  • 'nuff respect.Ricky Ponting....

(retiring after an ASHES HOME DEFEAT though....) tsk.

  • This is what happens to aussie cricketers when the aussie crowds, media and cricketers abuse England cricketers down under. Like they did to simon jones in 2002/3 and Jonathan trott in 2010/11. Payback's a bitch aint it australia. Oh by the way happy 517/1 declared I am sure the gabba crowd that abused jonathan trott enjoyed that NOT. I hope finn, broad and anderson does what harmison did to ponting here downunder in 2010 ashes. Go England win the ashes downunder :)

  • 12331 test runs. 39 test centuries. An average of 54.71. Enough said.

  • @hello140692 Solid record indeed but not good enough to be chosen in the provisional 88 players for the All Time World XI. The disadvantage is that he didn't have to face Warne and McGrath. Nor did he have to carry his side all the time (Brian Lara) or have over 1 billion cricket mad fanatics hopes on his shoulders (Tendulkar).

Still a gun batsman and one of the greats no question about it.

  • should of ducked

  • @redmez

how you have the highest rating comment when you have just talked complete garbage I will never know. Most of it doesn't even make grammatical sense.

  • @collinslfc

    I wondered too.

  • Bradman Tendulkar Lara George headley . . . Viv Sobers Gavaskar . . . Greame Pollock Jack hobbs len hutton hammond . . , Ponting This is how ponting stands in the all time list
  • @majesticmaniac Once Sehwag and Sangakarra retire you could throw them in the list before him too.

  • @TheHazcam...you know what...if there is ever a world all time eleven list made...sehwag and sangakkara have a better chance of being in that list then ponting does...Sehwag is the most devastating batsmen of this generation who can change the match situation with in a few overs...so as an opener he is priceless..Sangakkara is a wicketkeeper who averages 58...enuf said...besides ponting did not even get selected for australia 11, let alone world 11...so ya, will do...

  • i think competitive spirit between ponting and harmison is worth watching, since everyone knows that harmison hit the deck kind off bow;er and punter is a demon hooker and puller ,at times ponting have one of the best hook shots and at times harmison got better of him,i think england will miss harmison in the next ashes since steve finn is not good enough

  • i think competitive spirit between ponting and harmison is worth watching, since everyone knows that harmison hit the deck kind off bow;er and punter is a demon hooker and puller ,at times ponting have one of the best hook shots and at times harmison got better of him

  • watching this isalmost as good as watching 2 niggas knock fuck out of each other boxing

  • Ponting has a scar from each series he lost the ashes here, a very good batsman and captain though, i think we would love to see him here one more time, we've grown fond of the little guy

  • Harmison didn't mean to hit him - he was never that consistently accurate that he knew where the ball was going to end up.

  • as much as I hate punter, he is pretty damn good, but that was just nasty.

  • i love dis video

  • i love dis video

  • as a brit i hate aussies in every sport, as is the tradition, but we should never be blind to sporting skill, pontings a top 20 all time batsman, from 2002-6 he was the worlds best, not many players last as long as him at the utter top lvl

  • i wish he wasn't wearing a helmet

  • Ponting gets hit and gives a smile, Vaughan & Tudor get hit and hit the deck like a sack of shit.

  • @camfay77 dont forget Nassir hussain as well :) The thing i dont get is why he wasnt wearing a titanium face guard ...odd

  • @camfay77

Been a while since Tudor played for England... why not comment on The Judge, if you're going to go back that far?

  • @camfay77 the difference is Ponting is a horrible cheating cunt who doesnt know the etiquette of cricket.

  • @G00n3r4Life yeah im aussie and i agree 100% hahahaha.

  • @camfay77 Errrr... Old Trafford same series Strauss being smacked by Brett Lee...he stood his ground like an english gent.

  • @camfay77 Ponting gets hit and then whines like a bitch because none of the England guys came and gave him a cuddle :)

  • @camfay77 WRONG! Vaughn and Tudor are smart to duck.Ponting has no fucking intelligence,he cant even see the ball coming and I wonder what the fuck he is doing in world cricket.Probably jerking off in the dressing room most of the time.

  • @camfay77 He is like a pussy. Everytime it gets fucked, its happy. Ponting did the same ;)

  • @camfay77 you mistake a grimace for a smile.

  • @camfay77

Who cares? Vaughan won - Ponting lost.

  • @camfay77 I think Ponting was in the shock of Harmison landing a ball on the pitch :)

  • @camfay77 Aussies are tough man, even I who is a Indian fan has to admit that. They are really tough

  • @camfay77 Is that a smile? If you say so. We've seen it so little recently, it's hard to know. Was it like the smile he gave when Gary Pratt run him out?

  • @camfay77 Take it you didn't actually see the Tudor one. Went straight through his grill to his eye.

  • i love the banter with Australians. They are great and Pointing has been one of the best captains of test cricket of my generation. Looking forward to the Ashes this Winter. Come on England :P

  • @jogga16 I think he´s one of the best batsmen of his generation but as a captain he´s kind of average. I´d love to have him batting at nr.4 for us. :)

  • You need players like Ponting on the opposition. For one, they make victory difficult, and then if it does occur, it's all the sweeter.

  • I love England but darn, Ricky Ponting is such a great, strong player.

  • lol....ol ponting didnt know where to look....brilliant stuff by Harmison

  • fuck i love the ashes

  • Ashes the true cricket

  • Ponting is class...

  • that is soo funny but i just cant believe that it is ponting he is one of the best hookers and pullers of the cricket ball :)

  • Ponting is the best hooker and puller ever ! no body plays short ball better then ponting ! i love ponting

  • @ibraheym hooker u say? mwahahaha

  • @ibraheym he got out to the hook and pull multiple times this summer just been!

  • @redmez i put ponting in the same breath as all of those batsmen. How does he not belong amongst them, as much as you may dislike him as a person there is no denying that he is one of the greatest batsmen to play the game. I ask you, how can you consider gavaskar a better batsman then ponting or for that matter, what makes sachin such a better player. Put your dislike for the man aside and focus on his batting skills.

  • hahahaha. he's getting blood.

  • steve H and Brett L ..their test match bowling avg s are very similar! 31 and a half, 30 and a half!

That suggests theirs little to choose between the two!

If Steve H was playing on the fast hard bouncy aussie wickets EVERY year

who s to say ..he d have had more wickets at less?

  • Debates aside @ 0:25 Shows why Ponting is such a good batsman. He was watching the ball all the way until...just..just before he got hit. Bad batsman would have taken the eye of the ball long while ago. oh, I'm Indian so don't flame me :)

  • No one is better than Bradman - so what you arguing about?

  • Happens to the best of them. and Ponting sure isnt the best.

  • yeah 209 in his last test the 3rd batsmen of all time to pass 12000 runs and with a very healthy strike rate in each form of the game his a real shocker isn't he

  • Err,no. That is your warped interpretation of my comment. Ponting is among the top batsmen of the generation. But he isn't the best. Your own "wallabie" cricketers and experts would back that up.

  • u talking about test runs? last i heard there was just one batsman past 12000 test runs.

  • in one dayers mate Ponting has 11,859 runs in test cricket from 142 test matches with an average of 55.67 and Tendulkar from 164 test matches with an average of 55.37 and 13234 runs in test cricket technically Ricky Pontings average is better no matter how miniscule it is Ricky Pontings average will easily get him to 12000 test runs before Tendulkar did in the ammount of tests he played so i do beleive that ricky ponting is better at test cricket

  • u do?

u need to have watched some cricket in the '90s.

anyway ,pointless us going up and down.

pls stay ensconsed and enjoy your delusion

    cheers

  • ricky ponting is the best batsman of test cricket in the world and that is proved by his stats their is no delusion statistically he is better than tendulkar and no one can say otherwiswe because they would be wrong im just stating the facts better strike rate and he is going to score 12000 runs in his career faster than tendulkar did in his career sorry but this is all true

  • whatever.ciao

  • If you turn the volume up to the maxium you can hear Ricky squeal like the proverble pig.

  • i dont think the helmet has anything to do with it.... all it was, was a badly judged ball.... normaly harmison gets heaps more bounce because of his high, ricky just didnt pick the lenght/bounce, btw harmison isnt all that great??? look at magra... wow your pail while face just got shut down pommy... @tridantking so dont go go talking about whos bowlers are better... please b4 u get hurt....

  • What a fag.

He can bat doesn't mean he isn't a faggot off the field.

  • one tough motherfucker Ponting is, if An English batsmen got hit like that it would have taken his head off

  • well its a shame no aussie bowler is capable of bowling like harmison

  • Harmison is a Shit bowler who bowls wides all the time and Brett Lee And Doug Bollinger and waaay better than your pussy ass harmison

  • yeh but harmison is practically retired, in his prime he was miles better than lee and bollinger

  • ahh touche'

  • excuse me where is lee now get your facts right mate

  • yeah taking hardly any wickets is a real gift

  • yeh hardly any wickets

try 225 at just over 30 a piece

    retard

  • yeah so you still can't compare him to Bollinger who has an average of 24.11 and he's only played 6 matches and Brett Lee who is just better than Harmison and for you to say that no aussie bowler can bowl like harmison i can name a couple Lee, Tait and johnson the first 2 are the 2nd and 3rd fastest bowlers in the world Shaun Tait is the 2nd fastest bowler in the world 160.7 km im sure that would be a breeze to face right?

  • ok firstly

yeah bollinger has had a good start to his carrer, dosnt mean he will maintain tht average. Brett lee is just better than Harmison? id like to see Lee take 7 for 12. And tait may be quick but he is a shit bowler, he bowls juicy half volleys and mitchell johnson dusnt scare batsmen like harmison used to

  • It is pretty rediculous to say one bowling performance makes a bowler. Michael clarke took 6/9 surely he's not a better bowler then brett lee. By your logic Harmison is one of the most inaccurate bowlers going around because he bowled a ball to 2nd slip in the 2006-7 ashes.

Brett lee has taken more wickets for less runs and he did it without the aid of green english pitches and swinging duke balls. How can you possibly say he's not as good as harmison?

  • should have hooked it :\

  • Comment removed

  • need better helmets

  • @randominitializer hey the face grills are made from titanium maybe they need to bowl slower lol

  • I did not say there is anything wrong with the titanium grill, I meant the whole helmet should be better designed so that it does better to defend such deliveries.

  • or make them from reinforced microcarbon... fucking dangerous balls them are, imagine a bouncer from ahktar or w/e his name is 100mph at ur face... then again steroids...?

  • yeah the helmets them selves are of top quality but u see ponting got hit in the grill which pushed into his cheek causing him to bleed ive been hit twice without a helmet and many times with and they grade i play the opening bowlers get up around 130 -135 km and the helmets which most people use are probably not the titanium grill ones and they work well but in saying that we should use our bats more hey easier said then done

  • EPIC!!!!

  • thats gotta hurt! Ponting = Legend!

  • Pretty sure your god doesn't take kindly to goading, you fool.

  • lol 6-1 u got no hitting power its always been ur problem wat kp he got boweld first bowl bt asif why don,t u watch waqar vs england 7- 36 ashes 2009 loosers more like and plus we hav,nt been playing much in our own country but we stil won the 20/20 after all the hard times wel wait and see wat happens until then we wait and see

  • Hi Shit-fly,

Dont they even teach "propah" english in your caves moron? Your's is a team full of match fixers, ball tamperers and uncouth street thugs high on steroids, those who do not fit in the description are bearded rabid terrorists , WTF are you talking about loser? Stupid little scumbag, go back to your cave, flog your sisters while you oogle at other females, what a fucked up nation full of retards, ha ha ha, go blow yourself up at some KFC ha ha ha ha

  • hahaha look at pakistan? there lucky to even be playing cricket after the own people opened fire on the sri lanka team bus...... scum!!!!!!!!

  • i think everyone wil remember a whitewash 5.0 soo far

  • england suck real hard they only have gud bowlers thats it no hitting power u need like afridi or kamran akaml u wana see hitting look at pakistan batting

  • Kevin Peitersen is better than those two put together, Prior is a better keeper and batsman than Akmal. Afridi is dismal with the bat now, better bowler in limited overs. Wait til pakistan have to bat in a five day game, then we'll see who can't bat!

  • man so wat u won the ashes 2009 u lost 3 odi in a row thats crap man

  • lol now its 4

  • Ashes series are special and are remembered long afterwards. ODI series people forget in a hurry.

  • The ashes matter. ODIs matter only to those from the subcontinent.

  • not saying hes rubbish but hes a jinxs

  • lolz ponting come to 2005 ashes and austrailia lost then he comes in 2009 and austrailia loose again lol

  • and his still the best batsman in the world, WOOO

  • lol the best batsmen in the world, he is a cheater. he needed gilly, hayden mcgrath, warne to win. and now everyone is gone ponting has failed.

he is a great batsmen without a doubt but not the best.

  • you wouldn't know how to pick up a bat
