Review: Gateway FHD2401 HD LCD Flat Panel Monitor

ive been getting weird screen anomalies with this monitor like shaking and tearing, but then again i never ran EzTune........Here goes nothing

im trying to get an entire new system and i am looking for 3 good cheap 24 inch monitors to run eyefinity

right now i am on a 9 year old dell desktop and the monitor is a 15 inch crt from the mid 1990's lol

LoL!! It would be a definite step up for you then. If you can find them for that price then that's really a good deal. If you can find them locally for that price that would be better. The Q/A was kind of hit or miss with these monitors. Some people got some with excessive light bleed around the edges and some people didn't. I got somewhat lucky with only some slight light bleeding on one of them. It was no big deal for me based on what I use them for.

Good review man, it was well done, informative, and nicely edited. I liked how you showed the different lights int he top corner when explaining the differences in color when on/off/standby. I thought that was pretty cool man. What editing program do you use? I don't think windows movie maker allows you to do that and I'd like to do some nice editing in my videos like that. Again nice video man, and great picture quality. 5/5.

The stand for the 2401's is pretty flimsy and I haven't been impressed with it much. I'm looking into getting an aftermarket stand that will support both monitors. I should be putting up an unboxing video for that sometime next month. Once I turn them on I completely forget about the flimsy stands - the picture quality is amazing!!

check out the ergotron neo flex. i have the display you have. one thing to note the is that it slightly tilts to one side because of the portrait rotation. easily fix by tightening it by applying thin pieces of card stock.

also it does wobble but not as much and only the monitor moves and not the stand.

can anyone tell me what is the difference between FHD2401 and FHD2400??....The specs of FHD2401 seems to be better but in my country the FHD2400 is quite more expensive than 2401. anyone knows why is that so?

If I'm not mistaken the FHD2400 has the better monitor stand. The FHD2401 has a fixed height position and the screen can only be tilted front to back. The FHD2400 on the other hand has a stand that allows the user to adjust the height, tilt front to back and screen rotation [portrait mode viewing]. The FHD2400 was discontinued over here in the States.

thanks for quick reply...i've got another question...are these mentioned by you"lacks" of FHD2401 bother you? I've also heard that 2401's stand is also of poorer quality than 2400's. What do U think about this?

The FHD2400 has some kind of HD enhancement engine/chipset built in as well

Yes. There is a bit but since I don't game on these it isn't much of a bother for me. The GUIs on my editing apps are gray/silver so the the bleed is fairly unoticeable. Good eyes! =)
