@flashbell Here's a copy of what I had originally noted: "Singer/Songwriter Don Gibson was originally from Shelby, NC, and he wrote and recorded some of the most famous country and crossover pop songs in history. Among them, "I Can't Stop Loving You" (a hit for Ray Charles"...in that statement where did I credit Ray Charles for "Oh Lonesome Me"???
N.B il serais tres agréable de pouvoir lire les paroles en même temps que lòn regarde la video pour pouvoir la chanter Merci de Réjean (réponse serais apprecier)
Always loved this song. Might not have it if not for Chet Atkins. RCA listened to Don and didn't like it. Chet had huge influence at RCA and told them "If you don't have Don Gibson, you don't have Chet Atkins" Listen to the guitar in the background, that is Chet. And we dearly miss him as well.
This song has a lot of meaning to me. I was in Navy boot camp when this song was popular and just to prove the point of the song, I got a dear John letter. Now I can laugh about it
@stockcar4d There's a great deal of serious Roger Miller tunes. He's one of my personal favorites for that reason. He can make you laugh or move you to tears.
GREAT music- this was on EVERY US Navy enlisted men's club juke boxes from San Diego to Yokosuka Japan and Subic Bay back in Summer of 1960. I still LOVE It and remember all the words- again many thanks for posting it.

@flashbell Who did that? Obviously Ray made it a hit, but Don's writing of the song has always been credited.
