I don't think it's the best movie of its type, I think Dark City is far superior. What we do agree on is that these guys are fucking hilarious.

The Matrix didn't PACK THEATERS. In fact, the Matrix didn't get true recognition till it came out on video because of weak advertising. ID4's advertising - BLOWING UP THE FUCKING WHITE HOUSE - packed theaters EVERYWHERE and they made twice as much money as the matrix with a very similar budget (under $75Million).

I agree the Matrix was a strong film, but, it was nowhere near as strong as ID4. Of course, I did say "Alien invasion film".

The thing is man, you're saying that success equals quality. The Tranformers movies made a ton of money, are they good? Hell no. I enjoyed ID4 for what I think it was, lowd, shallow fun.

I couldn't believe what they were saying about Blazing Saddles. That movie is one of the fucking funniest films I've ever seen. There are points where it's so funny I can't fucking breath. When the bandits are sitting around the campfire... Or any of the parts with Mongo... how could anyone have anything negative to say about fucking Blazing Saddles?

I watched Blazing saddles for the first time the other day. Besides the constant use of the word 'nigger', this movie was ridiculous. Even for 1970's, this movie wasn't that great - and if you look up the movie reviews for the time, most of them were negative.

BULLSHIT. ID4 was a great movie. I saw it TWICE in theaters. July 3 and July 4th. EVERYONE applauded the film. Just because someone wants to trash it over 10 years later doesn't mean it was silly.

Uhhhhh, I think it's a great movie too. I don't know how that limits my ability to be critical or poke fun at it. That particular scene is indisputably bad no matter how you rationalize it. Interestingly enough, in the original cut of the movie they at least attempted to explain how he was able to do this, but it was cut out for time constraints.

I still love ID4. A whole hell of a lot has changed since this movie came out. Namely - 9/11. 9/11 was the last time you got so many people to focus on one point in space. ID4 was the first major disaster movie with such an amazing scope and range.

I already knew alot of the shortcomings because I'm on Movie Mistakes.com. But tearing down the cast is what the boys do best.
