unemployment benefits and the increased tax may not possess much of a dampening effect and exist as a symptom of the problem of jobs. if there are 1m people lining up for McD jobs, unemployment is 20%, and (as recent data indicates) this is the lowest "employment" for black males in recorded history then it is about the quantity and quality of jobs. the larger question needs to be about jobs...how are they created etc.
even if all the answers are discovered how would you go about making them a realality or how could you possibly change the system remember this is not old true America this is the land of greed and agendas. i believe that for some reason our leaders planed the fall of America for some kind of pay off or they are really... really...... Bad at what they do
It is not up to the media to tell the truth. It is up to the consumers of that media to challenge them. Boycott the media that does not tell the truth.
Completely agreed that a full crash is the only way out of this pit of corruption we're in. The entire western world is going to have to start fresh, which is a bit frightening, but also really exciting :)
America is full of hidden tax, and no one knows about. Inflation is the worse tax.... we should all get out of the states in a few years. Taxes are going to be huge!!
Charlie, we aren't facing Armageddon with this crash. We're facing a deep collapse crisis that will either be short or long. Whether it's short or long, what is going to emerge is a new level of government tyranny over the people. I think this is inevitable, and were I you, I would be preparing for that, as much as you're preparing for the initial collapse. Good vid!
stop watching to many movies cravy hero wanaby so you think you are going to get your country back? no body the white priviledge is over this land was stolen from the indians and it will go back to the real owners i know another of you sheepol will ofend me like the lastone who said go back to africa and take your monky with you (obama) by the way i did not came from africa, urope, asia, or australia i am an aztec there for i am a real american.
There is really only one solution, and it will never be exercised: bringing back all of these overseas jobs that have been exported for cheaper labor. Doing this would do some serious damage to many companies, but at least it would be bringing back jobs. This is the only time I could see bailing out a company as well. It's going to set us back $2bn but you're bringing 250,000 jobs? Sold! We've already squandered that possibility though. I think we're just fucked.
Like other comments I've read, I agree you are attacking the issue from the wrong angle. Really, the crux of the issue with your argument is that removing people off of unemployment doesn't free up any funds. There are no funds to be freed. Like you said, this unemployment stuff is the only thing keeping us from serious social calamity. If you remove that, it's not going to magically help small biz, it's going to hurt them when the riots and looting break out, which WILL come.
Even if we take to the streets, at this point, there is nothing that can be done quickly. I honestly do not know why I am even still in this country. If I had a brain in my head I'd do whatever I could to get the hell out of this smoldering bomb before it actually blows up.
@pokerslut530 -ha ha love the name. you make good points in your comments. My idea was presented as an example of the non sense going on with paying people to basicly not riot. Thanks for taking the time to comment
We as the people can only do so much. The people are just trying to stay afloat. The solution is simple, stop outsourcing jobs and stop illegal immigration. That would fix most all of our job problems. Then again, the people can only do so much. This is the fault of the government, the bankers and big business.
Hey Charlie, I've been unemployed for a year now. I'm glad I can still collect UI benefits while I look for a job and while I look at your vlogs. Extended UI benefits still pays the mortgage. Without it, I would loose my house. I do look for a job an average of 6 hours a day. Luv your videos Charlie.
the monthly vote is a carrot on a stick. Always money to shoot innocents from helicopters while no plan to create real jobs... Hell, government can't create jobs they jus recirculate your money... there is no positive creation there its a joke. All the while they will slip in earmarks to build the police state further. I believe a physical economy is the only way to bring it back. Agriculture
Extending unemployment is the band aid they put on a severed jugular vein. It barely stops the bleeding and death is still inevitable. This is not an answer...it's a diversion. It offers no long term solution.
Charlie, I usually agree with your videos & positions, I've been on extended EUEI and if I were to go on Social Services, I'd be homeless. As a single woman, no dependents, I'd be allowed $72 for food, a month. For every job available now, there are at least 5 people whom could fill that position. I did the right things and worked for the past 28 yrs, not getting married or having kids. Now I'm punished for it. After making $37,000 as a Store Manager, working 80 hrs a week...continued...
Continued....the company I worked for went bankrupt. I've applied @ over 700 locations and positions, I've applied at temporary agencies, Walmart, everywhere. I've been told, I'm overqualified for their cashier positions. And even if I did get a part time job, I could never survive, not at just over minimum wage. Want to hire me? How about I send you my resume and references? This isn't going to get better until we start making things here again.
Stretching unemployment benefits beyond its designed limits lead to inefficiencies (wasting resources).
Why should small businesses be expected to carry the burden of the extra costs? The corrupt federal gov't has taken our resources and allocated them to the banksters. That's the problem. There will be hell to pay if our political leaders cannot find a way to reallocate resources to citizens need instead of banksters trying to stay rich. Who does the gov't work for?
Charlie what about those new 16,000 IRS jobs created by the health care bill to pick your bones. Add that to the Obama's new brown shirt private army also provided by the health care bill.
crash will happen but in order to divert the peoples frustrations, war will happen as well. Not sure exactly how, but it's a good bet.
After the whole mess is over, we will have a one world government (NWO), and a wired currency environment (digital). Should all happen very suddenly.
That's my wild and crazy hunch.
I do not foresee a populist revolt, we as a whole (generally) are a bunch of Homer Simpson's. There will be some riots but not widespread enough to make a difference, easily crushed
There is a huge physiological toll in being unemployed for a very extended amount of time..huge. So I can't agree on your idea of forcing welfare, it would make the situation worse, much much worse.
A law firm that I do some work for, has brought in more attorneys just for the commercial foreclosure part of their practice. Yesterday they sent out hundreds of new foreclosure notices. The other shoe has dropped!
I don't think that the people running the government have short term goals in mind. I think that they really want to kill the economy and make themselves richer in the process. They want less people. They have been saying it by way of saying that humans are a cancer on the Earth (anthropogenic climate change). When people are poor they tend to have more children, all the ways to reduce populations, (excluding personal choice), are quite gruesome to say the least.
People can lose faith in "business as usual" and the "market shall provide", but not when it comes to the "goodness of humanity" or "your people will take care of you". We must maintain our sense of responsibility, charity, and open compassion for each other. We are all in the same boat and about to suffer severe hardships. Let's not lose our heads in the process. We need to stick together.
It must be so easy for these politicians to spend money that isn't theirs. Government is there to protect your rights and maintain the basics of living, that's it! People deserved to be helped, but not indefinitely. We need less taxes and smaller government, no deficits, a strong productive-base, and sound money. What we have now is Extreme capitalism and not Constructive capitalism.
I feel we first must re-establish our Republic and then seek to make sure an oppressive and despotic elite never re-surfaces again. A resource-based economy is what needs to happen. Resources are, in fact, the people's of the worlds just like the Native Americans belonged to the land.
hey charlie, this idea of ur's & warren's (and i had it too in my head and others i'm sure) is the essence of GOV 3.0. using the internet posting videos, sharing ideas, collaborating & snowballing, this seems like the correct foundation for the people's representative gov't. it better captures the broad mindsets & culture of a large group in a transparent more-or-less torrent-like manner. Way better than the current iteration; and certainly better than previous pre-1776 ones.
I think we need a long term solution w/ first the re-institution of 'sound money', abolish the Fed, abolish interest, lower taxes, new sources of clean energy, and expanding our horizons with a new renaissance and technological future.
The Kyrgyzstan government collapsed after they doubled the energy prices and the poorest people rioted. I sometimes think that they are determined to hit that economic brick war at warp speed ahead. Cap and Tax seems like a good way to double our energy prices. With so many on unemployment or in poverty in Amerika, I think that social unrest is predictable and inevitable.
I disagree that the media's concern is their bottom line. Look at all of the outlets that are losing subscribers, losing viewers, and going belly up, yet continue to spout the Liberal agenda. I believe that they see that we are at a crossroad where, either they can destroy capitalism and achieve their socialist vision, or the people will rise up against them. They are giving it all they have and don't care if they bankrupt their companies as long as they achieve their goals. YMMV
you mention that you and warren don't agree on everything and the people that view the two of you such as myself don't agree with either of you on everything. suffice to say you got that part right. even though alot of folk here on utu in the economic/collapse vid sector of utu don't make vids they do have a piece of the puzzle and hve shared with you and warren. been there done that. so imo the solution as you say is still a dream and were here in reality.
@watcher0777 while your working on solutions keep this in mind. this is for all the marbles, as in these are the last days, it is written. Jesus spoke of, identified himself as the good sheperd, and went on to mention an imposter the hireling, he expanded on this when he said you reject me but will except someone who comes in his own name. this one coming is the hireling. do we agree? it is not important that anyone agree with me because i don't come in my own name.
Inhumane people are on the streets now stop the funding poeple will find a new way to live or either give up on this life and destroy our country GOD willing the later.
Mcdonalds is always hiring, there are many of these low-skill places that have a hard time getting workers. Some people just don't want to work. I don't like the job I have but it's better than being unemployed. Those waiting for a high paying job, have a long wait. Eventually it will reach a situation where it's more economical not to work, like in France.
Do you agree with the goals and methods of Campaign for Liberty? If so, why not join forces with them since they already have a structure in place nationwide, and even world wide. They also have regional leaders and conduct face to face meetings and deal with national politics as well as local. I haven't really gotten involved myself, but just curious if you think would be a productive way to channel your and your subscribers' efforts.
@331zizzy Personally, I do not agree with these philosophy of this group, however, I would support anyone who is pro-freedom and pro-common sense. I think the solution is to end "monetary-ism" altogether and attempt a resource-based economy. These wealthy, ruling elite have to go into history.
I wonder what the max limit is of people that can be supported by the unemployment system is? You would think we have to be getting somewhat close to that number. I really have no idea, but I do know this is not sustainable forever, but a economic collapse of this nature can go on for a very long time. As more people are forced to take unemployment, it is going to eventually strain the system to the point of collapse. What do you think?
Small business's unemployment insurance taxes have gone WAY WAY UP! This discourages them from hiring new workers. I agree, put the unemployed on the public dole where the money comes straight from DC.
And last, I think we all know how we cannot, under any circumstances, allow ourselves to continue to be whores to the system. They are irrelevant. Their legitimacy has been lost. We need to return to self-reliance, values, family, common sense. We must not support these big, greedy, profit-driven corporations / banks / media either.
All solutions will begin from the bottom to the top. We first must establish small communities with like-minded people, who can share what they have and what they know to contribute to the well-being of the whole, which is their neighborhood. They will need to look out for each other, help each other, and expand their reach as far as they can. The next step is to put someone in office who will commit to returning us to a sound money system or we'll have to create our own.
Usually you do pretty good videos but you bombed this one. People are on unemployment not because they want to be but because they have to be. You don't understand there is NO jobs. What part of NO jobs do you not understand? If they shut off unemployment people aren't going to be pay their bills and become homeless.
Unemployment are NOT state funds. They are federal funds. Welfare only covers good, you don't get a check for housing expenses.
@CMLovejoy - I understand your feeling on this but im not for cutting help off to the unemployed. I realize most are unemployed by no choice of there own. My point was in the current system we extend unemployment ins and that hurts small buisness. We must help those who need it just in a more same way. If it were up to me we'd suspend all forclosures for a start. Thanks for the comment CML
Charlie, that's not true, the extensions are paid for by the Federal Gov't the reason your business taxes are going up to 3% is because more and more people in your State are applying for first time UEI benefits. We are loosing 450,000 jobs a month. Your State, to prevent bankrupting their system have thresholds that kick in automatically.
Without jobs, it doesn't matter what is done, it's only going to get worst.
Charlie, you're beating the wrong drum here dude. You've discussed this unemployment rolls being a problem in several videos now, but you're blindly attacking the wrong enemy. Leave the unemployed alone.. that is one of a very few expenses this country SHOULD be making. If the problem for you is the impact on small business, promote ways to help them that ISN'T at the expense of hard working Americans who have been screwed. You'll likely be on UI benefits soon too.. no jobs
@crabbydogtrix Charlie, how is it hurting small businesses? The funds are coming from the Federal Gov't, not the State or the small business owner for those extensions.
The reason your State UEI fees have increased is because businesses in your State are laying of more people than the system was designed to support. That is not my fault or the unemployed persons fault. Most States give 26 wks in total, paid by the employer of said state, anything above & beyond that is funded by the Fed Gov't.
@CMLovejoy I understand its not the peoples fault because there are no jobs but I'm wondering where the rubber meets the road? Its unsustainable for americans to just keep getting handouts off the backs of the workers, it's gonna collapse regardless...Its up to the people to realize that together they can cut out government by helping each other...make their own communities and commerce. It won't be an ideal situation but there is no pretty way out of this mess regardless.
@CMLovejoy ...unless you count working at Walmart or Ingle's Grocery Market or McDonald's. Seems like those are the only jobs really left anymore, unless you try to go more upscale and work at Best Buy or Verizon. See the pattern here? I work at one of these places, and the hat I wear for work was made in China. Most stuff sold at Walmart was made in China or Japan. This is the problem now. We only sell stuff. We don't make it. This is ruining our country.
@CMLovejoy I have friends in your situation & I get it. No jobs. However, by extending unemployment benefits the government puts off having to take any real action in creating jobs. They bailed out Wall St & left Main St to fend for itself. If the unemployed were w/out benefits the out cry would have been so severe by now, they would have had to reverse NAFTA & put the bailouts to use in actual job creation. They treat the symptom & leave the root problem undisturbed.
@CMLovejoy Very well said Chris. I am one of those people. There are NO JOBS! The solution in my opinion is to stop spending a BILLION DOLLARS A DAY ON WARS! Do you have any idea what welfare is Charlie? I have never been on it nor do I ever want to be, but from what I can tell it is basically living at 200% of the poverty level.
@CMLovejoy This is true. I know someone who is a retired MP/retired police officer/not to mention a college graduate. This person has been on un-employment for 2 years. If a man with this kind of job history can't find work, theres not much hope for the average joe.
You know Charlie, I don't know ONE person here in Canada who's loosing their home or lost their job. Listening to you, I DO believe it's bad there in the U.S.
If I didn't trust you and your vlogs, I'd almost think these gloomy economic numbers are "WMD's" (ie: social engineering)...an excuse to re-structure the economy for North American Free Trade.
Idaho? You live in ID? Wow.... Sure wish I lived in such a soverign and well-defended state! Charlie, thank you for having the guts to express these ideas. Nationally, we're just "kicking the can" down the road. It's time to own up to our unemployment issues and get real. I'm in eastern NC and I see it happening here in my neighborhood. "Impending Crash".... Exactly. Oh, buddy - it's 'gonna be ugly! God help us all.
this crisis can never turn around until there is a real bottom...the false bottom has created a sense of insecurity that cannot be resolved as long as people are still waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Youve made the best arguement regarding Unemployment and the tax burdon on small business...im one of those laid off..70 weeks...i want a job but there is NOTHING out there...but i dont want small business taxed out of existence either
@crabbydogtrix unemployment discussion will draw fire from folks like myself who are layed off...and i understand because im somewhat defensive...but at the same time we need to be thinking about small businesses ...they hire most of us...and they are taxed the most...I had a job from age 12 to age 43..payed taxes all those years...cutting foriegn aid before they cut benefits should be considered too
@crabbydogtrix - re solutions

Thanks for the video.

WJValente 1 year ago
All solutions will begin from the bottom to the top. We first must establish small communities with like-minded people, who can share what they have and what they know to contribute to the well-being of the whole, which is their neighborhood. They will need to look out for each other, help each other, and expand their reach as far as they can. The next step is to put someone in office who will commit to returning us to a sound money system or we'll have to create our own.

If the economy collapses, that is OK.
If the commercial sector collapses, that too is OK.
If the society / culture collapses, God help us.

The jobs are GONE, they aren't coming back.

Thanks for the comment CML
crabbydogtrix 1 year ago 2
Charlie, that's not true, the extensions are paid for by the Federal Gov't the reason your business taxes are going up to 3% is because more and more people in your State are applying for first time UEI benefits. We are loosing 450,000 jobs a month. Your State, to prevent bankrupting their system have thresholds that kick in automatically.
Without jobs, it doesn't matter what is done, it's only going to get worst.

@crabbydogtrix
You'll likely be on UI benefits soon too.. no jobs
Eraser7622 1 year ago
@crabbydogtrix Charlie, how is it hurting small businesses? The funds are coming from the Federal Gov't, not the State or the small business owner for those extensions.
The reason your State UEI fees have increased is because businesses in your State are laying of more people than the system was designed to support. That is not my fault or the unemployed persons fault. Most States give 26 wks in total, paid by the employer of said state, anything above & beyond that is funded by the Fed Gov't.
gerrilea1 1 year ago
@CMLovejoy I understand its not the peoples fault because there are no jobs but I'm wondering where the rubber meets the road? Its unsustainable for americans to just keep getting handouts off the backs of the workers, it's gonna collapse regardless...Its up to the people to realize that together they can cut out government by helping each other...make their own communities and commerce. It won't be an ideal situation but there is no pretty way out of this mess regardless.
mookixox 1 year ago
@CMLovejoy ...unless you count working at Walmart or Ingle's Grocery Market or McDonald's. Seems like those are the only jobs really left anymore, unless you try to go more upscale and work at Best Buy or Verizon. See the pattern here? I work at one of these places, and the hat I wear for work was made in China. Most stuff sold at Walmart was made in China or Japan. This is the problem now. We only sell stuff. We don't make it. This is ruining our country.
psxwarrior 1 year ago

I have never been on it nor do I ever want to be, but from what I can tell it is basically living at 200% of the poverty level.
edpotkay1 1 year ago

Cheers

@crabbydogtrix unemployment discussion will draw fire from folks like myself who are layed off...and i understand because im somewhat defensive...but at the same time we need to be thinking about small businesses ...they hire most of us...and they are taxed the most...I had a job from age 12 to age 43..payed taxes all those years...cutting foriegn aid before they cut benefits should be considered too
centervilletn 1 year ago
@centervilletn
as a previous small business owner, many times over,
the unemployment tax is a very
agregious/"invisiable" tax
A newly purchased 'business' has to pay what the
previous owners percentage of filed
unemployment claims were filed
against all!!! previous owners.
small business is being methodically destroyed.
GARDEN! now!
