The stereotype was created because blacks tend to live in poorer communities and live off fast food. When you go to McDonalds, KFC, Popeyes..... popular orders are those well... that have fried chicken. It's a big problem in terms of obesity rates in communities like the Bronx. I never understood this stereotype until college :). Now I do, and still love chicken :D
