  • All this talk of old elves makes me wonder, who was Bombadil exactly?

  • @TheHotmud I haven't read the books in a long time, so I bet I am completely wrong here, but isn't he suppose to be some sort of god, living in middle earth?

  • I love my LOTR geeks commenting on this video

  • Isn't Cirdan the oldest elf in Middle Earth? I thought I saw that written in The Silmarillion unless I read it somewhere else. Who knows! :)

  • is that cirdan with Gil galad and galadriel in the beginning?

  • where's the end of the prologue?

  • Soundtrack name?

  • Could anyone tell me who the actor for Bilbo was during the intro? (The short scene that occurs a few minutes after this opening. It's the scene where Bilbo finds the ring.)

  • Looks like lots of LOTR nerds talk on here, I just got done reading the books and am curious about the intro of the movie where it shows the 3 rings of the elves. Galadriel is shown as being one of the recipients, but where is Elrond? Doesn't he have the mightiest of the 3 elven rings?

  • @ikkuj The ring was given to Elrond by Gil-galad, the last high king of the Noldor elves. Gil-Galad was son of Finrond and he was son of Finarfin. Finarfin was son of Finwe; who was one of the first born elves. Finwe was slain by Morgoth the "god" of evil.

  • @Hermoor

Interesting. And how did Gandalf get the third ring?

  • @ikkuj Cirdan the shipwright gave it to Gandalf when he first arrived to middle earth. Cirdan was one of the first born elves as well, and he was very wise when Gandalf arrived to middle earth. But he recognized the wisdom of Gandalf and gave him the ring. It was Cirdan that waited for Frodo and Bilbo when they were going to sail to the undying lands.

  • Galadriel is DEFINITELY the daughter of Finarfin, the son of Finwë, and Eärwen, daughter of Olwë.

  • Cirdan the Shipwright is the oldest elf alive, NOT Galadriel :) While it's not clear if he was one of the original to awaken, he is definitely of the first born and so has been there since before the elves ever made their journey to Aman.

  • damn this gives me chills LoTR for life!

  • My point being that galadriel is considered to be a maiar since she is the oldest elf in middle earth,And my copy says that Glofindel is her father,Finarfin may be her spiritual father i dont know about that but mine says Glofindel is.My copy which i have open in front of me says Glorfindel.Galadriel is the strongest,She leveled a whole city by herself which i am sure you are aware of if not then idk what to tell you

  • @MsFeisty919 Hmm thats weird... can you post what yours says? Here mine says:

"The sons of Finarfin were Finrod the faithful (who was afterwards named Felagund, Lord of Caves), Orodreth, Angrod, and Aegnor; these tour were as close in friendship with the sons of Fingolfin as though they were all brothers. A sister they had, Galadriel, most beautiful of all the house of Finwë; "

Plus the Index of Galadriel says she is daughter of Finarfin, as does the family tree in the back of my Silmarillion.

  • @zeealpal I suspect MsFeisty919 is a troll. ;)

  • @TheAbsol123 @MsFeisty919 To quote the Silmarillion directly "Finarfin was the fairest, and the most wise of heart; and afterwards

he was a friend of the sons of Olwë, lord of the Teleri, and had to wife Eärwen, the swan-maiden of Alqualondë, Olwë's daughter"

So Galadriel's Father was Finarfin whose wife was Earwen

  • @zeealpal Awkward mine says Glorfindel and Serenity of the west, are her parents, thats weird And it does say she was the fairest of all the elfs,And there so had married into Lothlorien Celeborn, thats what mine says.

  • @zeealpal Sorry Lothlorien, married an elf known as celeborn

  • @zeealpal She married into the realm and house of lothlorien.

  • @TheAbsol123 @MsFeisty919

What I was originally replying to is this statement by MsFeisty919:

"She is the oldest living elf alive" and "by Galadriel, daughter of Glorfindel"

As said before, she is not the oldest living elf, but as you later stated she is the oldest living elf IN ME.

Apart from that, Galardiel ~ 10k yrs old

Also, Galadriels father is Finarfin, which it says in my copy of The Silmarillion, which I have open right in front of me, so obviously not Glorfindel.

  • @TheAbsol123 @MsFeisty919

Sorry, I was posting on my girlfriends account from her house (mychmcalrmce)

My apologies, its been a while since I have read the Silmarillion, I meant that there are elves in Valinor (I accidentally called them Valar, which I know (and has been pointed out) to be incorrect.) who are older still than Galadriel

  • Elfin language:

    Pres'tinin-The world is changing.

Hauranen bithnin-I feel it in the water.

Hunuthra meyahi-I feel it in the earth.

Ahustinin benilingi-I smell it in the air.

  • @TheAbsol123

I amar prestar aen, han mathon ne nen, han mathon ne chae a han noston ned 'wilith

  • @MsFeisty919 That's incorrect, Galadriel's parents are Finarfin and her mother was Earwen. They were Valar from Valinor, across the sea.

And she is not the oldest living elf alive, there are many elves in Valinor who did not cross the sea to claim back the Silmarils, who only helped defeat Melkor when Galadriel, and her kin failed. Some of these are as old and older than Galadriel.

  • @mychmcalrmce Um no go read the books Earwen is younger than galadriel , And galadriel is the oldest elf in middle earth and bears one of the rings of power,Earwen Isnt galadriels mother for one she is Elronds daughter so she can't possibly be Galadriels mother. So idk where your reading from. Earwen was born after the fight that took place between Sauron. Galadriel Existed even before Elrond kind of rivendell. And since she did there is no way Elronds daughter can be her mother

  • @MsFeisty919 You're getting Earwen confused with Arwen. Earwen is Galadriel's mother. Arwen is Elrond's Daughter and also Galadriel's grand-daughter.

  • @mychmcalrmce And they aren't Valar only finarfin is Earwen isnt considered a Valar at all so where are you getting this from i hope its not wiki

  • @mychmcalrmce Uh kinda not. Earwen isnt a valar otherwise she would have existed before sauron and could have easily taken sauron ( a maiar out). Yet her father elrond could not even do it.Stands to reason since she wasnt even born she is only 2000 years old while Galadriel is older than Gandalf himself. Making her over 4000 years old

  • @MsFeisty919 rofl loser get a LIFE

  • @MsFeisty919 in fact Celembrior forged the elf rings Sauron nvr touched them. This intro implies that Sauron made all the rings and this is false

  • @MsFeisty919 oldest? and daughter of glorfindel? iz not possibul?( TIME PARADOX!)

  • @MsFeisty919 What? She is the daughter of Arafinwe (Finarfin), King of the Noldor in Valinor, not Glorfindel :-) She is not really a queen, rather a princess and only guardian of Lorien, she said she doesn´t want to be called queen. But you are right, with Luthien and Feanor she is considered the greatest of al elves, the equal of Feanor (her half uncle) und she was, Tolkien said so, after the demiss of Gil Galad the mightiest and fairest of all elves in ME. So faier than Arwen!

  • @MsFeisty919 correction- oldest living elf not in Arda =)

  • @MsFeisty919 wrong, galadriel is daughter of finarfin, son of finwe, who still lives and is the High king of the Noldor that still live with the Valar...also Istari are maiar who have been bound to a human form and sent to Middle-Earth to support the free people against Sauron...for example Gandalf's name when he was a maiar used to be Olorin and was of equal rank to Sauron before he fell...Galadriel is the oldest elf in Middle-Earth,true,but in Valinor there are older ones...

  • @MsFeisty919

    Wrong.

Finarfin and Earwen are Galadriel's parents.

She is NOT the queen of the elves.

She has NEVER been considered equal to a Maiar.

She is NOT the oldest elf.

She is NOT the most powerful elf.

Every comment you've made in your defense is full of crap. It's almost like you're some sort of wannabe Tolkien fan trying to act like you've read the books when all you ever did was watch the movies and read LOTR fanfiction. Next you're going to say there really were elves at Helms Deep.

  • it is interesting how tolkien describes man.....

  • it seems that 10 uruk-hais didn´t like this scene

  • I don't think I've ever met anyone who doesn't like LotR. Maybe they're not as into it as I am, but everyone at least says that the movies are great, even if it's not their type of movie. Peter Jackson did such an incredible job on these movies, I don't see how you could dislike them. :D

  • couldnt believe how epic this was when i first saw it in the cinema

  • what is the name of the song when the title is showen? I can`t find it! :(

  • @SquigFacer It's called Prologue: One Ring to Rule Them All. It's on the FOTR: The Complete Recordings soundtrack, basically the extended soundtrack.

  • Cate Blanchett is god.

  • what is the name of this song until the video?

  • @lostwinner92 The name is The History Of The Ring.

Don't know ant details about the song or which orchestra it is but you'll find the song here: youtube.com/watch?v=nbLRDozffOc

  • @a25zkmiz91 On the extended OST it's called Prologue: One Ring to Rule Them All.

  • @lostwinner92 It's called Prologue: One Ring to Rule Them All. It's on the FOTR: The Complete Recordings soundtrack, basically the extended soundtrack

  • @MyMmoGamer I don't think it will be nearly as good as LOTR.... Don't get me wrong I love WoW but I love it as a GAME. I'm sure the movie will be good, but I don't think it will be quite as good as LOTR.

  • Exactly the video I was looking for. Big thanks for uploading!

  • who the fuck are these fucking bastars who dislike !

  • And Lebron has none 1:03

  • from the silmarillion , the first part

  • why this resembles wow so much -.-

  • @Sh4dowOfD34th Are you kidding me? J.R.R Tolkien published the three LOTR books in 1954, and even the films were made before WoW. WoW copied LOTR...

  • @ZaviahIV i understand hes being a douche but it doesnt meen WoW is crap because it copied LOTR... if games didnt copy anything from other games we would only have probaly a few great games

  • @Sh4dowOfD34th Dude all medieval fantasy MMO's take some inspiration from LOTR, its true and you know it.

  • @Chachy1337 wouldn't it be interesting to have a fantasy setting in a distant sci fi future? :) dwarven drug lords, elven vigilantees, orcish guns for hire...oh wait :)) there's warhammer 40.000 that fills that role

  • @Sh4dowOfD34th Because it's the same genre - fantasy. Your always going to have elves, dwarves, men ect.

  • I remember seeing the trailers for this movie and was like. Meh Harry Potter will be better. Oh how i was very very wrong. Kinda reminds me of Cartmen in the episode where they're playing LOTR and call the Harry Potter kids "fags".

  • The music is called "The history of the ring"

    watch?v=nbLRDozffOc - 1:55

    Have fun.

  • "Much that once was is lost. For none now live who remember it."

    THAT.

  • @Aiwenil I love that line!

  • what is the song?

  • Pause at 1:29 that guy is fucking EPIC

  • I remember being in seventh grade and sitting in front of that blank screen while the voice spoke. It gave me goose bumps and started a long and fulfilling love affair with Middle Earth.

  • @nurisim the same with me in the 6th grade!

  • OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG I CANT FLIPPIN WAIT FOR THE HOBBIT TO COME OUT IN 2012!

  • Hear am just wondering what d rings power are cause even when I saw d movie I dint understand what was so special about the rings

  • @ogunbawonnn /to find that out you'd have to read the huge many books on the history of Middle Earth such as the Silmarillion. unless it is mentioned in the LOTR footnotes, but all that you really need to know is in the intro here, "for within these rings was bound the strength and will to govern each race"

  • i feel like watching this movie again; the whole trilogy indeed...it's amazing

  • @carlos31389 Yeah. It is fucking EPIC, and it does not matter how many times you have seen it ! :-))

  • What is the song that always plays at the beginnings of each movie?

  • @techneonix :S its just the film soundtrack, the themes repeat themselves throughout the films in different forms. the tune here is just one of the main themes

  • I love galadriel's voice

  • 6 People didn't had a ring:P

  • 6 people are Orcs

  • I love her voice

  • @saritsiribud: Me too!

  • what is the song called?

  • I'm gonna change things around:

    40 People Are Awesome

  • six people didn't get a ring

  • so howcome only the men became the Nazgul and the dwarves and elves werent corrupted by rings when the one ring was made?

  • @theprophet113 unlike the other rings, the elven rings were not made by Sauron and so weren't corrupted by him and the elves realized that he was trying to control them with the One Ring so they took off their rings and did not use them as long as Sauron had the One Ring.

Dwarves are different from elves and men, a long story that can be found in the Silmarillion, but basically they're tougher, so Sauron couldn't control them but the rings made them greedier which awakened the Balrog of Moria.

  • @rleicester Ty for that that waas interesting :)

  • @rleicester I read the books but i dnt remember that

  • @Roenazarrek

I used this for my numbers video =]

  • I believe the song is called Prologue. I'm not sure though.

  • Why is i that I cannot find, anywhere on this site, the full original intro to this movie in its entirety? What am I missing here?

  • classic intro.

  • what is the name of the song

  • what is the name os this song those any one know's

  • I just now noticed that there where 9 rings given to the humans, and there are 9 Nazgul that hunt Frodo...

  • @halorper117 Each Nazgul had a ring, Gandalf is saying this to Frodo when they are at his uncles house, after he has given him the one ring. Each one of the Nazguls is the spirit of one of those kings.

  • Absolutely best voiceover I ever heard

  • what is this song

  • 0:25 does anybody knows this music?

  • I think that the Lord of the rings triology is the best movie EVER made...There will never be such a movie,LOTR will never be beaten!! I got chills every time I see it..And trust me,I've seen it many many many times!!

  • Agreed. Though I watched the Extended Trilogy the other day for the first time... and it's like re-watching the trilogy again for the first time!

  • @TheNona2403 yeah ... I think it's because of the intricate details and the history Tolkein poured into the books, and Peter Jackson put into the films

it really is as if Middle Earthe exists - they have a full history, languages, mythology, tales, songs, different creatures and races, maps ... the list could go on!

  • @FireflyFanatic3 Yeah,it's trully fascinating.I'm kinda obsessed XD

Peter Jackson is our hero!! :-)

  • @TheNona2403 - I agree %100

There will never be a film experience quite like lord of the rings ever again. It actually changed my life.

  • @TheNona2403 LOL,LOTR SUCCESSOR WILL BE KINGDOM UNDER FIRE

  • inception wins.

  • @octavian300 Hmm...Well I agree that 'Inception' is a huge movie. It's great!!!!!!! Leonardo DiCaprio always does perfect movies...But no Oscars,no big things unfortunately happend to that movie...I say it's a big movie but not big enough to beat The Lord of The Rings...Sorry but TLOTR always,ALWAYS wins!!!

  • Inception won 4 oscars fyi. When it came out LOTR was the first movie of its kind effects and cinematography wise. Inception was up against quite a few very good movies. The concept inception has, is unmatched. To people of higher thinking, this movie is Amazing. a bunch of mythical creatures killing eachother to fight against evil isn't that great of a concept. While I agree the cinematography, and directing in LOTR is amazing, It's not the BEST movie. I like it alot though.

  • @octavian300 Lord of the Rings isn't that simple.

  • @octavian300 NEIT inception was not the greatest book of all time

  • @octavian300 There's no way inception is better than Lord of the Rings.

  • Maybie not Cinematography wise, but idea wise yes it is.

  • @octavian300 If we only touch on the story present in the LotR films, then we have to cut a lot of it out, but still, we are left with a piece that manages to incorporate several grand themes into a literal epic, spanning many hours of film time:

The idea of the fatal flaw of man, comparing this to the progenitors, the elves, and their arrogance in being the first chosen by the creator. The fact that despite this arrogance, they are dying out.

  • @octavian300 Leaving aside the history of the world, and dealing with the war itself, we still have internal politics between races and kingdoms, the corruption of man due to the aforementioned flaws, and the dwarves expanding so far as to bring about their own doom, a concept that I am at odds with personally, but let's not bring that up.

LOTR is, by far, the greater film.

  • @sstuddert twilight is

  • @herebutoverthere get back under your bridge, troll.

  • @sstuddert im not a troll i was joking i just wanted to see what would happen if i said one of the worst movies i have ever saw was better then the best!

  • @TheNona2403 Yeah I know it won 4 oscars, but fyi TLOTR triology won 17 oscars baby!!

  • @TheNona2403

    except for oceans trilogy

  • @brickman409 Hmm...I agree Oceans triology is a fun movie but it's not something unseen or something you'll remmember after 50 years. The Lord of the rings is!

  • @TheNona2403 It is the early 80's generation's (my generation) star wars.

  • @Luigi84289 I ADORE Star wars. One of my favourite movie! In fact it hits my top five favourite. But if I have to be really honest-it still doesn't get so high as The Lord of the rings movie.

  • @TheNona2403

shut the fuck up you cunt.

BEST PART OF THIS SHOW WAS THE LACK OF ALL NIGGERS. if only such a beautiful place existed

  • @XxMalcolm who the fuck do you think you are, passing judgement on people u racist prick, i hope every single person on earth now devotes their life into teaching u a lesson for being such a narrow minded wanker

  • @TheNona2403 Just wait for The Hobbit! I'm so excited

  • @iverie You have no idea how impatient I am :DD I'm so obsessed with this movie :D I know 'The Hobbit' gonna rock...But it may only measure with TLOTR triology cause it's a part of the whole story thing :)

  • @TheNona2403 It's going to be a two part movie, so you know they're working hard on it. They brought in the same guy to do Gollom, and had John Rise Davis come in and give some pointers to the dwarfs, since he played Gimile. They're even using some of the same sets from LotR, including Bagend, and Rivendell!

  • this theme was very memorable. Thanks for response, i maybe wrong about my opinion. They seemed very similar opening for all three films.

  • Comment removed

  • One of the most brilliant scenes ever made. Gives me chills even after the 257th viewing.

  • @UndefinedMari I downloaded this for my ipod.... haha

  • What's the name of the song? I've been wondering for a long time.

  • I think it's called "foundation of the stone",Lord of the Rings' opening theme.

  • Best intro in movie, ever.

  • the music is so awesome

  • whats the name of the song?

  • lol me too

  • i want those awesome rings
