for video game instruments singing is obviously the most real

then drums cuz its not quite real drums but it teaches you to use your hands and feet in time

and then guitar/bass comes last cuz its only 5 frets and one string wen a real guitar has 6 strings (bass is 4 strings) and usually around 20 frets

tho it teaches you moving your fingers around the neck a litle

for rock band 3, there will be a hi-hat, ride and crash cymbal able to buy and add on the rb drum set and they will register as the actually cymbals in free mode, and the snare and 3 other toms will register as toms, so you got yourself a great 8-piece electronic kit. rock bands turnin' into a better drum simulator

yah i played rockband and guitar hero for a year before i even touched a drumset and when i got mine, i was pretty good, im guessing those games helped at least somewhat

This game helps. Although the feel of a real drumset is different, the idea of drumming is going with the beat, and Rock Band helps you learn this. It even helps you with speed and endurance. And I'm also living proof. I have a friend who has been playing drums for about a year, and the only experience I had is Rock Band. Even he said that I was better than him. But getting a teachers is still probably better.

the biggest shame is lack of a second drum pedal for that open and closed high hat or double bass.

if it had that, this would be pretty much be the next best thing to a real drum kit. and for a lot cheaper too, electronic kits are pretty expensive

Too bad electronic doesn't quite have the feel of real drums. At least real ones can be hit really strong without breaking, including a realistic foot pedal.

Still, Rock Band does make for a good simulator, although with the imbalance of the occasional rapid red hi-hat beat.

that timing issue could also be caused by sync problems with youtube. in fact that's more likely because rock band is not very forgiving when it comes to timing.

i realy think you shud consider playing real drums, i mean it wud take a while to get used to a real set but trust me u wud pick it up very quickly, to be honest i think u wud be able to get on a set and play a decent drum beat straight up, i mean wen i first discoverd drumming i didnt even have a drumkit, my only chance to practice on a real drumkit was at my bands drummer's house once a week, so i used to practice beats at home by stampin on the floor and smakin on my fuckin knees!!!

There's barely any transition at all, I got a real set after playing through the RB drum career. The only thing I needed to watch out for was keeping my hands from hitting eachother when I was on the hi-hat... and I got that problem under control after the first day.

You want your grip not too firm but not terribly loose. Use your middle and pointer finger as well as your thumb to grip the stick, but have all other fingers used just for accuracy and support. Your grip should be placed at a point on the stick that where if you let it drop on a reasonable surface such as a desk, it will rebound about 5 times or so. To double stroke, you lightly hit the surface, and while the stick falls for the second time, you add extra force and pick up and repeat.
