Lord stanley himself was from the united kingdom, there is no mention of an American in there......

Also Basketball was created by James Naismith who was born in Canada. (So technically Hockey was created by the british)

Can we see Team Canada winning the world juniors next year? its hard to say Sweden and Russia have a great team and few years down the line we might be able to see Maxim Tretyak in net for Russia, this kid is the son of the legendary Vladislav Tretyak. I heard he is good

So many Kids in Russia looks to the KHL, a professional league where youngster can grow professionally and it is an competitive league with good players around Europe. I watched some Swedish League games too and it was a amazing hockey atmosphere in the arena and there some youngsters too, that is how you develop young talent put them in a professional atmosphere where every point count and have something prestigious to win. The Swedish league full of young stars, Zibanejad is one.

And yea one of the teams denied Canada gold is the Americans, they do have a good hockey program, then got denied gold by Russia, and this year Russia again bumped them to Bronze medal match. Sweden, Russia and Americans last 3 years. I watch some Russian TV and saw how they develop there players and it almost look like they take it really serious starting a young age and developed well. The youngsters of Russia have a dream to play in their own league as a option this prevents brain drain
