  • I am proud to own one of the Black Beauty's!

  • All I can think is Kill Bill.

  • I marvel how FAST Al Hirt can play the trumpet !

  • having this in Kill Bill kinda surprised me. In tarantino's movies, he always prefers to use already made themes and songs other than composing his own and in the end we all played a little game call "Spot The Soundtrack" in each of his movies.

  • Among the best TV theme songs ever!

  • I love this show its my favorite I made a music video called green hornet 2 I have no comments on it yet I really like to hear what people think of it

  • to hell with batman... green hornet was much better~!!

  • Viejos tiempos, mil veces mejor esta serie que la de Batman con Adam West.

  • Watch THIS not the new p.o.s. from Sony!

  • I wish this guy narrated my life story.

  • This intro sounds like a jazzed up version of Flight of the Bumblebee.

  • @camlpg That's because it actually is Flight of the Bumblebee. And it's awesome.

  • @StarforceOnAir A gross imitation at that! Since Flight of the Bumblebee is a classical music song, not doubt it was inspired by the composer being around bees. How nature inspires.

TV, most of the time, can be truth disguised as a farce. Not sure I like this jazz version much. The character of the Green Hornet I do like but it has a pee poor theme song.

  • @camlpg different people have different opinions.

  • me too i was really excited for the same song xD xD

  • There's something racist about the intro. His dual identity is known only to his secretary and to the district attorney? How about Kato? He knows it too, doesn't he? By the way, Kato was originally a Filipino, like me.

  • @MORKOS621 Dude theres nothing racist shut the hell up.

  • 懐かしい。相棒の運転手は空手の達人・加藤と紹介され、今は亡きブルース・リー。

    当時、トランペットの早吹きと言われましたが、今でもそうなのかな?軽く40年以上前のTVドラマ。

  • Thumbs up if you wanted to have a car like the Black Beauty?

  • pac man eyeballs?

  • and his rolling arsenal...The Black Beauty...wow, what a car with Bruce Lee....the best

  • bruce lee true legend , he was supposed to be kung fu it was his idea but david carradine got the part, americans were racist didnt want a chinese man onscreen what a waste imagine how good that show could of been if he was kung fu instead , bruce lee , respect rest in peace

  • @moleworthy, everything worked out. If Bruce Lee had gotten the lead in Kung Fu then he would have not been able to go back to Hong Kong and give us such classics as Fists of Fury, Chinese Connection, Enter the Dragon and Return of the Dragon. RIP Kato. Its a good thing that Green Hornet got its own show because it wouldn't have been fair for Batman and Robin to get their asses kicked by the the bad guys.

  • @jocolope I suppose you could look at it that way, but remember Kung Fu was on for at least 4 years. If it was as big a success with Bruce as it was with Carradine, he would've had a much easier time getting the projects made he really wanted to do. Enter the Dragon was a Hong Kong martial arts film made by an American studio that Bruce pretty much directed himself. And his vision of Game of Death was MUCH different than what eventually came out. He was destined for stardom either way.

  • Good thing the recent movie included the original theme playing near the end credits

  • @iwasanangryyoungman No, good thing would have been to have this in the OPENING of the movie.

Set the stage. This song is as much the Green Hornet as the William Tell Overture is the Lone Ranger.

Hollywood just does not get it.

  • wait this introduction of this series

I heard that theme in Kill Bill

  • @TheChoujinVirus Yea, they took it from this T.V. show made in 1968.

  • I like how the music is used Kill Bill and Uma Thurman is dressed up like Bruce Lee (the yellow outfit). The song is on the Kill Bill Vol. 1 soundtrack.

  • this song rock's

  • Pacman was there also!! Look on the hornet's eyes...

  • @chinomunoz I noticed that, too. Any moment I expected that thing to start chomping away.

  • @WilliamDRowlett Imagine on 60's news.. "Legendary PacMan ate a Hornet on Tv!! " jajaja...

  • i really love that song!!

  • lol, this is epic

  • The new movie is, for lack of a better word, a pile of crap

  • great show this was :)

    shame aboutthe new movie :(

i found it to be such a disapointment

  • Bah!

Kato (Bruce Lee) could defeat the entire Deadly Viper Assasination Squad singlehandedly!

  • Guys, I meant who the hell is Kill Bill compared to the Green Hornet...

  • I guess I'm the only one who thinks of Kill Bill when I hear the theme song xD

  • @Drifloona Bill who??

  • @bilitoc -.- It's a movie. I can't believe you've never heard of it.

  • i prefer the sixties show, although the new movie is more like a parody, it's o.k.but it lacks the suspense and exciment of seeing the hornet and kato kicking butt.

  • the movie was boss

  • song shoulda been played LOUDER in da movie

  • how different is the movie to the original

  • thats a really ugly hornet int the intro

  • i'm glad they had the theme song in the movie i was really excited

  • @orange9280 It actually was on for like 15 seconds. Quite a disappointment.

  • @weightedcompanionc at least we actually heard it or else it would be even more disappointing

  • @orange9280 its called flight of the bumble bee one of the most famous pieces of classical music of all time

  • I wonder how Bruce would've feel about this movie? RIP Bruce.

  • @havefunkush: it's actually NOT flight of the bumble bee - it's a variation called 'Green Bee' by jazz musician Al Hirt

  • What version is this one ?Its in kill bill and the green hornet (new)

  • I know the unaired pilot episode featured a different actor as Britt Reid/The Green Hornet, but I can't remember who. Can anyone help?

  • These heroes are an instant classic and the movie was awesome too

  • @komando231 trully the movie was rocking the theators i demand to watch it again xD

  • They used this theme in the movie. Complete with the original logo with the Pac-Man eyed Hornet and trippy green background. Really made the film for me.

  • We lived in Mexico from 68' to '70 (I was 4 - 6) and I clearly remember watching this show with great anticipation. I couldn't wait to watch it with my uncles next door as we called it the Kato show. Unfortunately, Hollywood did not appreciate Bruce Lee and passed on him for the series "Kung Fu" because he was too ethnic. They gave the roll to David Caradine, a white man instead...

  • @EnriqueRealtor thats unfair

  • MAN! I get winded just listening to that trumpet part. That's some pretty good playing (Al Hirt was a bad ass).

  • The oppening song is by Al Hirt it isnt the "Flight of the Bumble Bee"

  • For the movie they should have pick some as cute as Van Williams .

  • @nia218 Check out the movie Dragon:The Bruce Lee Story, Van Williams has a cameo in the movie as a TV director when they're showing Bruce's days on Green Hornet

  • I'm watching the green hornet Marathon right now & I gotta say watching the Tv series while getting high from K2 is awesome sauce, bruce lee pwns!!

Btw the flying Hornet in the opening is freakin me out dude but its so badass lol!

  • i clicked this page, it went perfectly in sync with the actual show on T.V. same visual!!

  • The tv series masks look better than the feature film.

  • Great TV theme song, even though that hornet in the opening credits would freak me out when I was a kid.

Was wondering what some of you thought of the Batman/Green Hornet crossover episode from the TV series? That was classic!

  • pacman at 0:34

  • awesome memories! cool show...hope the new movie is up to it.

  • @pcsbeat, no it is not sadly. Most people who previewed it found it a stupid action flick with more silly jokes as a vehicle than the old fashion adventure of the TV Show.

  • the song was composed by al hirt, it was only inspired by 'flight of the bumble bee'

  • the film is gonnna be an exellent film, green hornet suits 2011

  • is that the same announcer from the batman series??

  • @TheHiphopdrunkie Yes it sure is! The announcer/narrator is none other than William Dozier, whose company, Greenway Productions, created both Batman and The Green Hornet for TV

  • @TheHiphopdrunkie Yes, is the same one. He was in the ending credits.

  • The opening theme of the original Green Hornet show is BASED on Flight of the Bumblebee, there are obvious excerpts heard in it, but there is also some parts that are not from the famous Rimsky-Korsakoff piece!

  • why is there a pacman in the hornet`s eye?

  • the new movie is really gonna suck.why do they feel the need remake a great show into a damn comedy?

  • Awww, I was never able to see this show. I saw the beginning with the theme song and then as the Green Hornet logo was playing, my mom made me go to bed, school in the morning. My classmates would tell be about the episode the next day and I was so pissed. I only saw Flipper, Time Tunnel, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Lost in Space. Shucks.

  • green hornet rocks

  • Love Al Hirt's playing on this. Way cool! :)

    STAY AWESOME! :)

  • Chauffer huh...wow..just shows you the mentality of America during that time. Even as partners fighting crime there has to be a delineation of status.

  • 0:56 would have had the announcement: "THE GREEN HORNET.....brought to you by..."

  • Kato must be the protagonist

  • The announcer is the same guy who Narrates the 60's Batman

  • @dryspud That's right, it was a gentleman named William Dozier, who was the executive producer of both programs and head of Hollywood's Greenway Productions.

  • I love that music. Its the same music from kill bill vol 1

  • Its Al Hirt's - Green Hornet it seems like they just twisted the flight up a bit to make it the green hornet

  • my all time favorite show since 1966! =o]

  • @tornmask it is a powerful number. i'm looking forward to the upcoming jan. 14, 2011 movie. i hope i'll enjoy the movie & the soundtrack.

  • @d4seasons : i'm really looking forward to seeing it too!..hope it'll be a real winner! =0)

  • The song is "Flight of the Bumble Bee" by Rimsky-Korsakov

  • @tvradiodude .... The music sounds similar to Flight of the Bumblebee, but it's not that piece. Al Hirt might have used Bumblebee as a jumping off point, but definately not the same piece.

  • @tvradiodude .... no it's not the same music.

  • @tvradiodude.... The Green Hornet radio show and the unaired pilot TV show DID use the Rimsky-Korsikov Bumblebee theme. When the TV show was picked up, the theme music was greatly recomposed by Billy May and played by Al Hirt. Both pieces of sheet music can be found online and compared.

  • @tvradiodude Nope, it's close but not the same.

  • @tvradiodude

actually, the music is called "Green Hornet" and is by Al Hirt

Its a jazzed up version of the flight of the bumble bee.

  • @tvradiodude actually, it's the Green Hornet theme. by Al Hirt.

  • @tvradiodude No it isn't...I don't know where you got that piece of info, but it's wrong.

  • @DresdenStarwing no it's right

  • @tvradiodude No, its based off of it but it's not the same song

  • @tvradiodude A fast-paced techno version.

  • @tvradiodude no its not, it is the basis for it though. Al Hirt remade it with his own touch and calling it green hornet

  • @tvradiodude and performed by the late, great Al Hirt

  • @tvradiodude

No, it's "The Green Hornet" by Billy May, 1966. "Flight of the Bumble Bee" was used as the theme during the radio show, which aired 1936 - 1952

  • @tvradiodude technically Flight of the Bumblebee is a different song

  • @coastermania17 technically, yes and no. This is a different rendition of Flight of the Bumblebee. Not a different song. If you had the rights to "Flight" you could sue over this version.

  • damn what's the name of that song? and is that the actual theme song cuz i've only heard it in kill bill

  • kato is my hero

  • One of the most underrated television shows and characters of all time.

  • @CombatSportFan Must not be that unrated since Seth Rogan is starring in the big screen version of it....in 3D.

  • @AngiePhoenix85 Yeah, my hopes aren't exactly high for that one being faithful to the source material...or being good for that matter.

  • This was a more than a better show than Batman. I even loved Batman the best when Kato kicked the livin' doodoo outta punk assed Robin.

  • @oldschoolbx1970 I remember it as a draw. There was no way the producers could have one of their superhero teams beat the other. So they became allies.

  • yes my friends , i watched this show on a.b.c tv in the 1960s campyyy but what can i say living in those yearsss. new "greeen hornet" coming soon!!^^)

  • @jdenver2010 "Batman" was campy. "The Green Hornet" was done straight, except when Britt Reid and Kato did a cross over on "Batman"!

  • @mvp822 Just be happy Robin got the doodoo beat outta him by Kato.

  • when I was 11 and I was learning how to play the trumpet this theme song was one of the most awesome things I had ever heard

  • yep, the new green hornet movie has seth rogen in it

  • I did not see alot of this show because I was watching the other show from the same producers. Batman. Are these shows avialable on dvd?

  • @khj93play Sadly, no. There's been a long running court battle over the rights to the show between William Dozier who created the Batman TV show and the estate of the Green Hornet's creator. I'd love to see these shows too, just to see Bruce Lee when he was largely unknown to Americans

  • @jennifersman Ahh. What a shame!

  • this was one of my favorites back then. i heard their making a new movie based on this show. i hope they dont mess it up

  • wtf !?

  • This was a great show that would make agreat movie. Sadly Seth Rogen is doing his pos. Just watch this and you will see how cool Van Williams was as the Green Hornet.

  • Ain't Kato bruce lee.

  • yes

  • @novatrek yep

  • @novatrek- Kato was the whole damn Green Hornet, Brit Reid was a mastermind prettyboy, Bruce Lee kicked ass but on a scaled down action show. IF they would have let him go in the show, they would have run for awhile, Kato can kick Batman's and Robin's ass together! Believe that!

  • @tubucoco I agree with you - ABC should have given The Green Hornet at least one more season but from what I understand, the show was having trouble attracting viewers on Friday nights. And this was long before TGIF was even a twinkle in the network brass' eyes.

If The Green Hornet had been renewed after its sole season, I think they could've done one more crossover episode, only this time have Britt Reid have the hots for Barbara Gordon! Of course, they wouldn't know each other's alter egos.

  • @jsrosa1282 -yeah the chick that played Babara Gordon/Batgirl was hot, but Bruce rocked that show and he even wasn't doing anything just simple prop shit, kids tuned in just to watch his amazing moves back then for a fact!

  • @tubucoco Absolutely right - and if I had grown up in the 1960s, I'd most definitely be staying home on Friday evenings just to watch Bruce in action!

History fact: ABC cancelled The Addams Family (still a ratings winner in '66) to make room for The Green Hornet. John Astin said this during an A&E Biography interview.

  • Yes.

  • @novatrek Yes,that's the one and only Bruce Lee.

  • @novatrek yep

  • @novatrek ja

  • is it coincidence that the theme reminds me of Flight of the Bumblebee?

  • No, since it IS Flight of the Bumblebee

  • not quite, I checked the two and they aren't the same but sound similar.

  • No offense, but every credit I've ever seen says it is Flight of the Bumblebee

  • go listen to "Wynton Marsalis - Flight of the Bumblebee" and you'll see they are different.

  • @JTZissman

It's a variation of the Flight of the Bumblebee called "THE GREEN HORNET" by AL HIRT. It is a righteous and uplifting tune.

  • Its a variation on the Bumblebee theme. Fairly appropriate in that it invokes the same frenetic action you might see from, say... a hornet.

  • @RaynorX Coincidence, by it is NOT the Flight of the Bumblebee. It is a variation called THE GREEN HORNET by AL HIRT. (The all caps aren't for you, but for those who apparently haven't learned to read yet. :)

  • The Green Hornet has Pacman eyes

  • oh man ,just beautiful****missed that era*

  • Filming starts next month for the GH movie...Due in 2010...ironic their would be another green hero debuting also on screen..Green Lantern.

  • This show was on AMERICAN LIFE T V NETWORK until some wise ass took the show off for some lame movies from the 40s and 50s

  • The music to this was great

  • It is cool I think it's based on "Flight of the Bumblebee" Rimsky-Korsakov.

  • @hanoc101 Yes, it's based on Flight of the Bumblebee, but it's called THE GREEN HORNET and is by AL HIRT. Awesome trumpet player was he.

  • I like to know who the comentator was

  • William Dozier- same guy who did the narration for the 'Batman' series

  • they say your starring in that movie?...gay hornet brokeback mountain...

  • yes, darling child.

  • this was a great show. i remember seeing an episode where they guest starred on the batman show.

  • now i wanna know who were the shitheads who cancelled this show off the air....

  • @MiraculousJeff The upper management of ABC, who else? Idiots all of them.

  • so thats where the music for kill bill was from

  • Great Show.

  • The Green Hornet Rocks! Lets roll Kato!

  • This music in in kill bill!

  • i can see were your comming from the new movie should be just as good as the 1966 tv series i never pictured rogen as the Green Hornet, never quit fite the bill , chow should be brought back in, it would suck if they made a suckey movie about a great tv series i am still mad they screwed up knight rider

  • knight rider didn't get screwed up infact it did great. And also don't count rogen out after all we did that with heath see what that got us we couldn't tell him how great he was.

  • To be honest, Heath (and Nicholson) had a screw loose and could convey that in their Joker characters. Excellent Directon helps too. Rogen has always played a laid-back semi comedic slacker type. Britt Reid is a handsome publishing gadabout. Rogen is no Downey (IronMan) and right now this project seems like a sopomoric version of Ang Lee's The Hulk. But as you point out, we can be wrong. I hope I am. But looks like if I go "green" it will be the Green Lantern before Rogen's vanity project.

  • Heath went insane afterwards people said he could not get out of joker in away. And rogen really says he has respect for it and rogen has a direction with it he had them push back filming so he could be like him even more that is a true fan and it really has nothing you can judge besides the actor and that dosen't help like i said.He said he wants it to have the dark tone of dark knight but a littl ecomedy from ironman the actor's we least expact work out perfectly.

  • Health did not "go crazy" because of what people said. Thta was a hideous statment to wite or make. Heath was an actor who had cut his craft on many dramatic, serious and comedic roles. Rogen is getting pushed along in the industry and his 'fans" well I'm glad he has them, but IMHO his fans are like Megan Fox's fans. Here today, gone tomorrow because the talent has a lifespan.
