  • Does Thos Work On iPod 4g, Cuz I Tried and it only worked for Mp3 Version! :/ I Meed It To Work On Vid!!!

  • What the fuck is a VCR?

  • tested this on an ipod classic and ipod touch

this WORKS very well on my ipod classic 5th generation.

this DOESN'T work on my ipod touch 2nd generation.

thanks A LOT for this video i was going to buy a tv cable today : )

  • lol i got DDR on my ipod too =D my favorite is Dinomite Rave

  • where do i buy one of these cords?

  • i used a camera av cable and an ipodtouch i pluged the av cables into my tv and the ipodtouch and it only played the audio

  • I have both a touch and classic and this method doesn't work on either. However it works with my brothers iPod video.

  • Apple, if you're reading this, I just returned a new iPod Nano and got an old iPod Video (5th Gen) on ebay because you BROKE the TV-out on newer models. The new models won't play on the treadmills where I exercise, even though the dock connector still fits! Even if I forked out $50 for a cable(!!!), it still wouldn't work on older dock equipment like treadmills etc, so back goes the nano.

  • I have a ipod classic 120gb with the same kind of cable but when I follow the steps and start up a video it asks me to hook up a ipod video accesoire and won't play the video until i do. It shows a small pic of something that you would put in the bottom part of the ipod like the usb charger or a docking station. plz help

  • ok so I read somewhere else that the new ipods can only work with a docking station but not with all of them so I'll pretty much have to guess if it will work with my particular cable. Thx apple for making your own stuff so fucking expensive and fucking up all compatibility with 3rd party gear:D:D

  • whats the cable name?

  • AV cable

  • thnx soooo much!!! u rock!!!! im def. gonna subscribe!

  • Sweet! Now I can bring my Digital Copy Version of the Dark Knight on Blu-Ray in my car and connect it to the DVD player in there! Awesome!

  • does this work for the chromatic ipod?

  • yes all

  • please reply: does this work with the 2nd generation ipod touch?

  • oh noez he's back kinda of.

no this will NOT work on a touch im fairly positive. i dont have one so i cant test it.. im actually going to remake this video since i didnt realize it would be so popular lol. i mean its a year old but still thats roughly 40,000 eyes :p

  • yes

  • didn't work for me. I have the ipod nano 3rd generation. thanks anyway tho..

  • has anyone tried this with the ipod video 80gb?

    Thanks

  • Um........I need help. Ive read some of the comments and some one has the same Ipod as me. Ipod Classic 6th generation. Um i followed everything but i only get the audio.

  • Read the description of the vid

  • thanks so much!

im so happy this worked for me!!

  • i used my ipod nano for this. i tryed to listen to music on the Tv but i cant hear the person sing that well i can hear the instuments but i cant hear them singing

  • i have a 30gb ipod video. i only get audio when i play movies on my tv. how come i don't get any video output?? i also used the av cable from my camcorder.

  • This won't work for my iPod classic (80 gb). Darn =/. does this mean i have to buy one of the apple ones? I tried this (switching the red and yellow) on all the tvs in my house.

  • the tv out has been disabled on the 6th gen ipods :(

  • omg why?!?!?! This was on of the reasons why i bought my ipod :( glad i didnt waste the money on the av cables.

  • yeah but you can play it if you buy the "apple docks" thats how they get you.

  • thanks man i was having issues it was the red and yellow switch that saved me

  • this doesn't work with the Ipod nano 3rd gen.

    Does anyone know why?

  • yeah same with me

  • loved this video back then wehn i had a ipod video

  • i like the random whammy bar beside his tv :P

  • hey i dont know why but my ipod says to get the power cord on my 4g nano

  • i fuckn love you 4 this N/H

  • does this work on the 80Gb IPod Classic?

  • yes~!

  • ur voice sounds like Stewie

    lol

  • this doesnt work on the new ipods, u have to buy the expensive cable!

  • Will it work on the new video nano? Thats what i have.

  • does this only work on ipods?:(

  • not that i know of. me and my friends have at least gotten audio to work from crappy mp3 players

  • haha i log into my YouTube account for the first time in like 7 months and find this video still going strong =) good to hear it. Yes im still alive and sorry i havent been around to answer your questions. Im trying to get back into doing videos but school is killing me. Thanks for the support

    -ryden

  • yes i do, you also need to buy a new apple docking station for tv out with svideo for the 6th gen to show tv out so it is very costly apple suck they never mentioned they were going to disable this headphone funtion with the new ipod 6th gen, so i thought i would help others out and save people some money

JUST BUY A 5TH GEN IPOD 30GB VIDEO IF YOU WANT THIS FUNCTION TO WORK OK..... :)

  • what gen is yours ? my is 6th gen 80gb classic and this is disabled, dont buy the shit if you want to watch vids on telly !!!!! it dont work trust me

  • do you mean the special cable from apple?

  • darude-sandstorm? interesting

  • thats no VCR, its an illegal cable box, i was a cable box guy once.

  • if thats an illegal cable boox, then why is it philips

  • haha i was laughing at family guy. the zune tv outs better though, cos u acutally get a tv formatted interface

  • Thanks buddy.

    Whats that song called? lol.

  • Yeah this video helped me heaps :) cheers mate good stuff

  • thanks dude. that is exactly what i needed. i got an ipod classic 80 gb and will check it all out ;)

  • Yeah dude, i know why it doesn't work with your ipod touch. The last generation of ipods classic 80 and 160 Gb and the ipod touch don´t work with this kind of cables. They need the new and expensive apple av composite cable, which has a special chip that allows it to transfer video. All other cables, no matter how expensive, won´t work.

  • no you need not. because the ipod-site says: the mini-jack (so the not composite-cable) works with the ipod nano 3rd gen. so a normal one should work just fine.. have you tried already switch the yellow for the red plug?

  • the ipod classic or touch dosent have this function they have a newer cable called RCA cables you cqan buy them for $50 at walmart for your touch or classic and the quality will be a lot better trust me i compared it with my friend at school who has a 60gb vs my 80gp classic in my parents honda odessy it worked a lot better

  • Does anyone know why I can't do this with my ipod touch?

  • beacuse it sucks

  • you suck

  • you suck

  • Takes one to know one

  • hey it work's but there some problem. the color of the video is black and white

  • try to change in the settings of the TV

    pal-m/ntsc

  • At 3:15 (about) when the screen is focused on the ipod on top of the VCR, there is no cord connected to the ipod???? can someone clarify for me?

  • God, you guys are nimrods!! Just do it like he says and it works!!

  • you dumb you need to put red to red white to white and yellow to yellow i make those things for trust

  • how the hell does that work!!! how does the video go through the headfone jack?

  • yep works pretty damn well.not perect dvd quality but good enough.

  • do it for the ipod touch

  • it does not work through the tv at all!!!

u need the VCR to do this !!!

  • hey ive got a cable similar like yours but its only got a red and white end - now yellow. so i plugged the red into the yellow and the white to white and the sound was all sorta going on and off.. can you help?

  • i bought one special for ipod but man i love this video i loove it to watch dno why

  • ooo cool

  • omg...it works!!

  • what if you dont have the red plug

  • then idk lol

  • please answer this.

    Can you watch photos?

And why would an audio jack have a video lead, and where can i get one?

    Thanks

  • i dont make the rules i just enforce them...lol

  • family guy rulez

  • mine doesnt work

  • Erm. This is like one of the most basic features of the iPod video. Well done for the tutorial, but seriously ppl, it's even colour coded...

  • TY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i can't get mine to work; where exactly on the VCR are you supposed to attach the cables?? the rear or front?

  • did you check to make sure your ipod was on video out?

i forgot to mention this crucial factor in the video and later just added it to the note about said video...and it really doesnt matter which ports you use because ive used them on all kinds of the YELLOw-WHITE-RED ports on T.V.'s, VCR's, DVR's, and such and they work fine...hope that helps

    -ryden

  • OMG...you're awesome! thanks for sharing..

  • well i do what i can *ego gets bigger*

  • Does that work for Creative Zen to or is the combination different, and is that a whammy bar i see? Do you play guitar?

  • it should...we did it with my friends little .mp3 player for Audio...not sure about video though...if you have a video out function i can imagine it would work the same way...if not...sorry

  • Hey thanks it works, I can see pictures/videos now, thanks =]

  • well im glad to see i could help...and yes i do play guitar...nice of you to notice a 5 second shot of my whammy bar...lol

  • i only got the white and yellow av

  • ok...well use that thing in your head god gave you...its called a brain...

  • freak u im a noob thats hy im watching this retart

  • um...no you are worse than noob...you are 100% Sauce..

  • this is pretty easy.. and slightly unnecessary. you could have summed the video up in about 15 seconds... but good job taking the liberty in actually making the video. thumbs up, ill try it.

  • hey can u tell me the exact name of the cable that you used. The cable that has on end that fits into the headphone jack

  • Wow, thx for the info

  • sweet dude thanks

  • it does not work for me!

  • well you are a nub...lawl j/k get better cables

  • Thanks for the information =)

  • Thank you

  • thanks for the help

  • Great find dude, I've always wanted to show my friends vids on my iPod.

  • Muy bueno bro!! Thanks to you. One question, plz, what Ipod you have?

  • i have a 30g WinPod

  • The key is in the cable. If you look at the headphone end of the cable you'll notice that there is one more black stripe than normal headphone cables have. This stripe sections off an area in which video data can be sent.

The video iPod is able to send video out through the headphone port with this extra strip on the cable. (you can get cables like this from radio shack)

  • Thanks Dave.
