Very dangerous escape... It works, but if you try it when it's too late, you're going to destroy your elbow. Gotta be working this escape the second your arm starts getting straightened.
What most dont realize is that these techniques are called a locks for a reason. You can only escape if them if it was not fully applied or executed improperly.
in my opinion the manuver is pretty easy to master but the speed most be at the right time mostly caunts for the oppenent can brake that arm in only seconds .
@DustyBJJandTKD maybe your opponent doesn't really care to break your arm? How often are you in a real fight when you are put on an arm bar? of course if your sparing, even if your seriously sparing, your partner wouldn't actually break your arm.
rageinblast is right. . Even for a strong guy to get out. But if there is a slight chance it is only because he has his feet crossed giving the guy on bottom a way to roll in the first place. If it was proper form he would have one foot above the right shoulder and the other below the right shoulder. ( straightening his legs and lifting hips. Knees tight ) If you want to roll out of this you have to catch the very beginning attempt at the armbar. Then there is a chance to roll out as shown.
If you are already at that point in the defense to the armbar, you've already done something wrong. It is incredibly difficult to get out at that point, its better to just get good at going to a defensive posture(arm locked on bicep, hand on head for guard armbars or always keeping the proper hand over hand holding lapels if mounted or from side control) as soon as he grabs an arm.
@Etaks89 Arm on the bicep isn't a reliable defense in my eyes these days, I'd just switch to an arm crusher right away. I get guys with it all the time, and if they try to push their arm through they just end up giving you their arm.
I think that is the best way to get out of an armbar, probably won't usually work because he will get you in a reverse armbar, but if theres anyway to get out of it, that's the way, nice vid
Nice.

when your arm is stretched its too late. You must do this before the stretching.

I used that to get out of a sure armbar @ NAGA nationals a couple of years ago. Worked, but if you don't catch it in time he will have your arm.

This works like a charm; however, its all about timing, start turing your arm over as soon as they start pulling that arm back.

I saw Rich Franklin escape from an armbar against Lutter like that in the UFC match.

That's to risky because you can role in the reverse arm bar.
