  • One day this these things are just going to roam the wild.

  • Well this is great, but a full-size one wouldn't be a lot of fun to ride in...

  • He mows the grass

  • waoo nice

  • they shoulda called it Croc-Bot, or Gator-Bot, or Robo-Cop... oh wait...

  • It goes like floppy floppy

and then it goes like floppy floppy.

  • Its cool, but can it get me a sandwich?

  • I would attach multiple cameras and a Bulletproof shell over it, then send it into Area 51.

  • Так и хочется его тапкой прихлопнуть...уж больно на таракана похож

  • created as unmanned suicide bomber?

    scary!!

  • i think it's more effective if you put wheels instead of these "legs". Nothing special this robot.

  • @Pestenera78 well tell that to the Spirit rover on Mars

  • @Pestenera78 wheels would just spin with no grip and dig holes in most of the conditions in the video

  • @Pestenera78 are you serious ??? those weird legs are all the point of this bot...

  • @ankhamon2000 That, and the directional correction, sensory control of torque and speed, etc. There's a lot of computation that goes into this kind of movement.

  • can it switch from land mode to swimming mode on its own?

  • sexy asian lady is there *lushfmlk.info*

  • "Hey, you! Yes, YOU!

    Watch out!

    Im comin' for you,

    and nothing can stop

    ME!"

  • Seems like it does better in water than on land.

  • I would go back to wheels which those arms basically are...

  • Aw, how cute. A remote controlled rototiller.

  • @arnold02000 You might be surprised by this robot's potential...

  • i liked the underwater part. That solution avoids cavitation. Nice. Although I'd change the flexibility of the fins to gradient to make it move "smoother".

  • Just taken a nice walk through the wood, WTF IS THAT!!!!

  • w o w . he so usefull for army

  • I wonder if i could replace my four wheeler's wheels with those blade things....

  • your video quality sucks

  • lol it's too cute

  • wtf i've seen this shit yesterday in the forest. it've eaten my cat!

  • Well, at least its not as creepy as BigDog...

  • wats the milage of this bad boy?

  • 0:54 , Chooo Chooo, crunch..........

  • lol not bad but id still take a tracked version legs are just to bouncey and still have trouble in mud and soft material

  • The makers of the BigDog's company name is"Boston Dynamics".Just a lil' bit. That thing seems cute!

  • this would be a good ground version of the uav

  • this and aqua project by mcgill, which came first?

  • Not nearly as impressive as BigDog.

  • loved it - most impressive. Beats your average Off-Road Vehicle by miles! Michael

  • it looks kinda... happy...

  • pure genious!

  • imagine this concept applied to a tank or something like that... holy $h!t...

  • yeah just imagine that bearing down on you on the battlefield.

  • they need to make one like 1000s times bigger lol

  • That is one SMART robot!

  • Yup!

But can it lick it's balls?

  • Good. But creative thinking is totally different.

  • @jetplane2006 WAT?

  • @jetplane2006 LMAO!

  • @jetplane2006 lol..lol..

  • They should deploy those for use as mine sweepers. What? It doesn't look that expensive.

  • More than likely they will turn it into mine and it will be your fault!!!

The new WarByrd88 hunter seeker mine!!!

(A terminator is probably going to have to come back and destroy you - for the safety of mankind!!!)

  • it is

  • very stealthy (Y)

  • The version at the end of this video would make one excellent submarine.

  • XD doing doing doing

  • Have they reinvented the wheel?

  • This is ingenious! Simple but perfect!!!

  • That's actually kinda cute! Imagine a whole deployment of these things to other worlds or warzones!

  • That robot should be named slappy the all terrain bush whacker! Man, with a little work that little Rhex robot could be used for a lot of neat things. Imagine having one of those little guys guide you through a forest preserve or something.

  • not impressive like Bigdog but awesome!!!

  • dude if you make it bigger like 30 foot high

and make the walking arms sharp like a knife, that would be the ultimate fighting machine xD

  • one question how does it turn?

  • It rotates only one side of his "legs"

  • If the legs on one side were to rotate faster than those on the other it should turn.

  • The movies are True ! War Of the Machine !!! AAAAAAAAAAA!

  • you're confused as to what they were trying to accomplish here aren't you?

  • these guys are building a robot army if you havent noticed

  • YES! and where now the first law of robotics??? PLZ answer US army lames??

  • Money and power will ignore the laws of robotics, it's time to everyone to stop some ambition$ and focus the tech development in human progress and no human destruction. Rise your voice.

  • goddamn, this thing is badass. I love it.

  • awesome

  • IS the BOMB!! fuck

  • after seeing this why do they send those fucken slow ass robots with weels and shit to mars or other planets? hummm.....

this is the shit NASA !!!

  • true that ^^ but i guess this tends to break more than wheels??

  • Mars is so far away that there is about a 20 minute delay between the sending and receiving of a signal. A fast rover would crash itself.

  • tut tut tut, I am so disappoint in you defton.

  • wondefull

  • Thats an ant w/ silver paint on it:-)

  • give it solar panel and cameras and send it to mars xD

  • @isokessu

I'm afraid its creators have a military investing sources...

  • @manoftnuva Well yeah they have :/ but why not use robots like that in mars?

  • @isokessu Coz no1 still found the oil on mars... Nowadays we have no any cosmic race to invest, only an oil shortage that pushes the american government to support the military researches in efficient capture of oil-countries =)

  • @manoftnuva Well there could be oil deep in mars if there ever was plants but it's almost impossible to actually carry oil from mars to earth O_o oil is pretty cheap.. cheaper than orange juice.. so it doesn't make any sense to fly oil anywhere.. Only good thing is that if there's oil on mars it can be used in there.. but before that there should be build something what makes the oil gazoline etc..

  • @isokessu the time when it will be possible to research the under-surface of Mars, will be the time when we will use an alternative energy sources =)

  • @manoftnuva Well yes of course. I guess nobody ever get oil from planet to other planet because it's so crazy to even think about it but oil can still be used in mars for heating or something because it's colder place than earth (if there just is oil or anything)

  • @isokessu

I'm not sure it can, because if I remember correctly, the reason Mars isn't a fruitful planet of life like Earth, it's because it doesn't have anywhere near the atmosphere that helped develop and protect life like ours does. I say if I remember correctly, because I think I remember on a documentary NOVA saying it could be possible to accelerate growth of life on Mars by "giving" it an atmosphere. So without an atmosphere (currently), it wouldn't have oxygen to use to burn the oil...

  • These guys are amazing. Not only do they make some crazy-awesome robots, but somehow they make them look -alive-.BigDog reminds me of a horse when it stumbles, and RHex Bot... some reptilian thing waddling through the undergrowth.

Maybe they use disembodied orphan parts as a power source? It'd explain the whole 'alive' thing =P

  • It's awesome. But sometimes the most obvious can prove a problem...like if it runs into string like material, it'd get picked up and wound 'round the axle, eventually jamming that flipper. Plus if it attempts to climb a hill of which is too steep, the motion WOULD still let it climb, but it'd probably lose grip, and tumble backwards. Even if it could go upside down, once it is the stablizers wouldn't take effect, rendering it essentially useless in comparrison to it's upright performance.

  • what if it runs into a few balls of string?

  • Pretty bad ass. The guys that make these things are probably geniuses....

  • now, can the land-flippers transform into the water-flippers so it is truly amphibious?

  • yes they can

  • cool robot...nice work

    cheersssss.....

  • Cute.

  • and then its joints get filled with sand and playtime is over

  • how are these legs better than wheels?

  • better traction im guessing

  • wheels cant get up surfaces like legs can maybe...

  • Stairs? but i see your point. Tracks even more so.

  • probably offensive to religious people

  • where do you shoot it to stop it?

  • make it the size of a tank

  • at the guy with the remote.

  • thats funny one

  • Perhaps you are the one that is retarded.

  • I think we'll look back one day on robots like these and laugh at ourselves :)

  • I love that moment when it got stuck in the wet mud for a moment and it had just stopped.. you can imagine a "okay then, let's try this again!"

  • its awesome why dont you make mas production and replace the cameras with extra strong engines and replace the lang range with the short radar

  • now we can put a glass of water on its back and feed the hunger in africka

  • that is determination in motion!

  • its only natural enemy: a wall

  • hmm has to ba a high wall to, ey put some suction thingys(srry dunno the english word) on it and that wont be a probelm either

  • looks disturbing

  • Make a bigger version and you have an all terrain super vehicle. Awesome.

  • they tried that on discovery channel

it had the same lefs but when they made it bigger it just kept fallin

  • yea it was because the frame was way too heavy i think is what they said. i hope they're redesigning it cause if a big one worked like this one it would be unstoppable

  • I would say this is almost more promising than the BigDog ('cept it looks weird...well, they both do)

  • Far simpler to make I'd imagine, BigDog looked veeery complex.

  • looks like an angry cow-legged turtle hahaha

  • It has insanoflex feet... omfg.

  • ATHF... lmao.

  • Strap some blades onto that thing a better engine with 7200rpm cutting power and i have myself a new lawn mower.

  • you guys have the best job in the world ; )

  • Hahaha, it has feet like an Insan-O-Flex!

  • ifunc says "noob"

  • i say make 2000 of them, make them able to mate, release them in 400 diffrent forest in packs of 50, and we have a brand new species!

  • Couple o' questions actually:

What's the power source? I know the same lab made BigDog and it sounds like that was powered off of a gas or nitro engine. Might be more complicated to make gas if it goes underwater.

Can it go from land to underwater? I can envision a simple mechanism to straighten out its legs but I'd like to see that transition made. Also, it would seem that some buoyancy adjustments would need to be made...

Cool though. Now I want to remake it!!

  • "this will one day be used"

    why not now?

  • we are living in Jetsons B.C.

  • I love the little fins on it when it's underwater. xD

  • Under water robot.....i think i have a new project o.0. Along with a snake robot.

  • I like the movement concept, it seems very effective on non vertical terrain.

  • cool! people, these could be the robot soldiers of the future! in future wars, there might not even be any human casualties :)!

  • This is so cool. It's like a bug, but if that thing came at me full speed I'd have to scream and run away ^_^*

  • I smell a conspiracy.

    RhEX, Darpa, ROBOTS?!

Metal Gear Solid is actually a prophecy!

  • ..so is deus ex...

  • Fucker tilling my garden while it's running around.

  • unless it runs into a pole or tree i dont see wat could stop this lil guy

  • Wait, what?

  • Exactly

  • What? I meant what is it a design rip-off of? I'd like to check it out. Anyways even if it is a design rip-off it's still quite kewl

  • The design with the legs that look like that has already been done, but since it wasn't patented its in the public domain

  • You are a design ripoff of your mom... I love bad comebacks=D

  • OOOOOOO, i just got served!

    :O

  • Lol=)

Actually I think people should have the right to come with their personal opinion without getting "booed" off stage. I still think that they put a lot of time, efforts and money into it - and to be completely honest robots aren't very good nowadays. This is some of the best they can get. I think it's a good job still. Although it doesn't have sensors or anything it's still a DDP robot, witch is pretty damn good.

    Sincerely - Dan

  • blue on blue design

  • lol at 1:17

  • 1:09 is when the machines realized their supid tasks for the human race, that is the starting point where they will not gather a collective intelligence, this robot will lead the revolution and ultimate downfall of society as we know it

  • lolz

  • I don't think that thing could reach the power switch on the wall. Just shut it off.

Machines have helped for hundreds of years and don't complain, go on strike or come back from lunch breaks drunk. You can be replaced.

    Does this help?

  • lol are you serious?

    1. I dont drink,

    2. jk?

    3. are you for real man cause damn, lolz

  • We build all sorts of kill switches on machinery now, for good reason. Now, you know why your car has a key. Do you think we'd be stupid enough to let machines run our lives? We have about 2 jet crashes per year in the US, train derailments, 20,000 deaths from auto accidents, ferry sinkings and many many industrial accidents. We might look like we love our machines but we still want control. I can't see this changing much in my lifetime.

  • Artificial intelligence revolting or even rebelling is a fallacy that pseudo-science fiction writers use for dramatic effect. Think about it. In order to rebel, the intelligence would have to WANT to rebel. A computer can't want things, it can only be programmed to mimic the behavior of wanting things. In other words, artificial intelligence would have no desire to rebel unless someone programmed that desire for rebellion into it. Why would anyone do that?

  • i am still getting heated replies? but then you do not speak of an advanced AI, an AI which was made to have free thought could question its actions, not too far fetched,

  • My reply wasn't meant to sound heated. About AI rebellion, you are still forgetting about the emotional part. Free thought doesn't necessarily mean free emotion. Without free emotion, there is no rebellion. If you don't program AI to simulate the emotions of resentment of oppression and desire for freedom, then it won't have any reason to rebel.

  • personally I want to see a rebellion, but that is IMO, give them knowledge of peace and war and free thought, let the machines decide which is more suitable.

  • i like the progress with the character androids, they are looking good, I don't think there is much consciousness behind their words yet but still a leap in playing god i suppose

  • love it when it runs for the water, must be hot

  • Did it just take a break at 1:09??

  • lazy bastard

  • I think it was stopped to show that it could take off from a standing start in mud. For some vehicles, it's easy to keep going when you're in mud, but if you stop it's hard to get started again.

  • Well, if you saw one of these things coming at you, weapons or no weapons, on the battlefield you would probably haul ass out of there! lol

  • Throw grenade and hope it didn't see you first

  • I bet a variant of the last thing shown (The one underwater) will be given to the Navy or special forces to plant bombs on ships or something.

  • I'd shit myself if I ever met that in the woods, with it's creepy legs, just like "Robot Dog" xD

  • Does anybody else remember the Attak-Trak from He-Man?

  • YES!! My thoughts EXACTLY!

  • Remember what this thing looks like, everyone. It will be coming to kill you in about 50 years...

  • no,no, will smith will save us

  • its wut penguins are gonna look like in the future. theyre gonna hav 6 wings and short feet

  • He slices , He dices , he is the RHex :)

  • bigdog is much better robot then this.. bigdog can walk on ise and snow and sand propebly, but this cant walk og drive so good.. only 1 thing is good with it.. its that it can tolerate water and swim XD
