  • I can't imagine the devastation that you are still living through in LA. I live in probably the worst-devastated city in Iowa from the flood of 2008 (Cedar Rapids). NOTHING like what happened in New Orleans! This city is still oppressed, and people are still "whining to FEMA" (as Rush so righteously stated was not happening). We knew the high water was coming, and got away. LA had no idea what was in store. BIG DIFFERENCE! It's now winter, and FEMA still has no solution to the homes w no heat

  • i did not know the true devastation from katrina until i watched this-and i know it doesnt hold a candle to being there.

i went through the flood of 97 in northern ky-and it was really bad but nothing NOTHING like this. God be with you all.

  • oh yeah im going to put my kids in a stroller and go to ????????????? and out runa hurricane?? are you clinically insane or just stupid?

  • "oh yeah im going to put my kids in a stroller and go to ????????????? and out runa hurricane?? are you clinically insane or just stupid?"

No, but you seem to be. Since you clearly are choosing to ignore the fact that the evac order was given DAYS in advance of the hurricane. And I don't know what the hell you think those people are down there, but most can handle a 5 or 10 mile hike just fine. Just because the guv's not there to do it for em doesn't mean it's impossible to do.

  • walk?? are you nuts? ppl had children and babies,[ets how u posed to WALK WHERE YOU GONNA GO?? THATS PURE CRAZINESS.was the governments JOB TO EVACUATE THEM.

  • "ppl had children and babies"

These people have their own homes, but couldn't afford a stroller? And never take their kids anywhere in public?

    "WHERE YOU GONNA GO??"

    To an EVACUATION CENTER!

    "THATS PURE CRAZINESS"

No, it's called SMARTS. You're just gonna have to face facts. At SOME point in your life, you're on your own. The government can't carry you from craddle to grave. Get over it.

"was the governments JOB TO EVACUATE THEM"

Well they TRIED BUT THEY WOULDN'T GO.

  • rush is a pill head ...simple fact.

  • youre a piece of shit human being.go suck rush's cock.

  • THE LEVEES BREAKING were the end result of New Orleans demise. It was not Hurricane Katrina. The storm came and went with wind damage, but the very next day, the levees gave. Don't blame the people, blame the government who was supposed to have regular checks on levees, roads, bridges, etc. That's where out tax dollars go and oil revenues are supposed to go.

  • Tim Wise Adding Insult to Injury:

Race, Disaster and the Calculus of Comparative Suffering

    Copy and paste into google

It's the usual from Tim Wise(eating right wing racists alive).

Please, someone, try and discredit ANYTHING Tim says.

  • It's classic far-out-in-left-field liberalism. First off, Katrina was NOT the worst storm to hit the US. I think the Tri-state tornado (c 1930's I think) or the Galveston TX hurricane (same era?) were by far worse, both in devestation and loss of life.

Other questions might be: WHY didn't these people in N.O. leave? WHY didn't mayor Nagin use the schoolbus fleet? WHY did the La. Gov. tell the fed they needed no help? WHY didn't the medea focus on these facts?

  • this isnt 1930 anymore and blqcks arent at different drinking fountains and schools wake up they are human beings did you look at those pics?? wtf?? those ppl were destitute.

  • "this isnt 1930 anymore and blqcks arent at different drinking fountains and schools"

First off, I never said it was or that they were. Have YOU forgotten that there were also white people in N.O.?

    "wtf?? those ppl were destitute"

So poor they can't walk? I got news for you, if a hurricane was comming toward MY town, I'd crawl on my eyeballs to get out. More to the point though, WHERE was the vaunted (and rashly exonerated) State and LOCAL government in this mess?

  • Walk away from a hurricane? LOL. It was a category 1 in Baton Rouge(Katrina) which is more than a days walk away.

    Please, don't be ignorant.

  • "Walk away from a hurricane? LOL. It was a category 1 in Baton Rouge(Katrina) which is more than a days walk away"

Which is probably why MANDITORY EVACUATION was ordered about 30 hours before Katrina made landfall in Louisiana.

    "Please, don't be ignorant"

Ignorant? Where did I ever say they should walk to Baton Rouge? No darlin it's not ignorance comming from me. However I suggest you consider enlightening yourSELF on some of the facts.

  • Where would New Orleanins walk to then? Can't really go west or east or south and then they'd have to walk past all the traffic, across long bridges over lakes and spillways. And outwalk a hurricane? Again, that's silly. Most people that died were elderly, do you expect them to walk out of New Orleans? Only someone in great shape would have a chance of making it. There was less of a risk by staying in the city...Outwalk a hurricane...lol lol

  • "Where would New Orleanins walk to then?"

How about the various evacuation centers that were set up days in advance, when mayor Nagin ordered a voluntary evacuation? Or were these people (so "poor" yet they owned their homes) too destitute to make it to one?

"Most people that died were elderly"

Failure in LOCAL government procedure. Plain and simple.

"There was less of a risk by staying in the city"

Not according to people on the left who screamed about unpreparedness.

  • i like how the music in the background convienently turns up when Rush really starts talking, hmmm.... cause they dont want to hear his perspective, just taking him out of context, thats all. you gotta admit, those down in New Orleans did whine alot. you know why? cause they have been depending on government their whole life. and suddenly it failed them. big surprise. YOU CANT DEPEND ON THE GOVERNMENT. be self reliant.

  • Gov is supposed to take care of you during times of disater. plain and simple they choose who they wanna help.

  • "Gov is supposed to take care of you during times of disater"

Yes it certainly is. So why did Gov. Blanco tell the Fed "we're fine," and don't need additional help? Why didn't Mayor Nagin use ALL the transportation at his city's disposal? If they wanted people to evacuate, they should've made the order manditory. The biggest failures in the Katrina mess were the LOCAL and STATE govt's refusal to take preventitive action. If they were too poor to leave, they should have been HAULED out.

  • wow, what a racist post. That's not at all what Rush said. He never talked about skin color once. The poster is a racist coward.

  • ok so i wasn't done yet lol. he is a asshole for saying anything like that. I live here and yeah I sand bagged my ass off for days. Yes a lot of people came together here. But, what he needs to realize that many katrina victims came all the way here in the middle of nowhere to help us out. And we appriciate all of you for putting others before yourself. Thank you!! Our thoughts and prayers go out to all katrina victims along with anyone that has to suffer the wrath of mother nature.

  • hey all.I'm from the flooded states and I just want to say that what we are going through no where compares to what hundreds went through with Katrina. it's not fair that the president and all govenors have been here already saying they are helping the fight but why couldn't they help the fight in new orleans, i'll tell you why, cuz they are all a bunch of pansy asses! they know here a boat will save them and they knew there was nothing to save them from katrina. Thank you for making this video.

  • Democrats = Dependants

  • Seems like I had to do a total of four "thumbs down" on these comments, and looks like three comments were from "4951WEDDEL",and one from "wreddon"....interesting how both screen names are so similar.... I guess one "Ditto-Head" is the same as any other "Ditto-Head".

  • You are missing the point Rush was making. There is a difference in before, during, and after these floods how the people themselves respond. Some people who have lived their lives dependent on the government vs those who are independent and responsible for themselves.

  • In case anybody didn't already know he was an idiot. You can't even begin to compare the Iowa floods with Katrina, or even the Grand Forks flood. Iowa was relatively minor by comparison.

Did you see any news clips of people stranded on the roofs of 2-story buildings? Thought not. Even in Cedar Rapids the water didn't even get to the tops of the Stop signs.

And the area covered by the water was certainly far less. Plus we had more warning to evacuate. Limbaugh listeners are all going to Hell.

  • OK i'm not a dem or lib

but this vid makes a great point

a relitvly slow occuring flood is NOT the same as being hit by a hurricane then having your levee break while being below sealevel .

the local govt did fail Orleans but so did fema it is a known fact that they STOPPED shipments of supplies and that the police are notorously corrupt in Orleans also doing some looting and killing of their own or just Not showing up to do their job . honestly WTF is fema for if not this kind of event?

  • Rush is a bigoted liar.

  • Rush is right. The people of New Orleans should have gotten themselves out of the city. The mayor and the governor failed them, not FEMA or the President. You liberals created that welfare state and a dependent class of class of people (both white and black).

  • What are you talking about? They couldn't leave the city. They were trapped, both financially and physically. They didn't have the money to just pack up and leave. Where would they get the cars? Where would they stay? The ones that tried to leave were greeted at the bridge by armed officers saying they couldn't enter the city. What were they supposed to do? Nobody gave a damn (or gives a damn) about them. They were frustrated and pissed off and honestly, I can't blame them.

  • No one was trapped. They knew the hurricane was coming and they did not leave. What money? You mean to tell me that ALL those people were so poor they did not have ANY money? If they stayed, they stayed by choice. Probably to loot the houses of those who were smart enough to leave. The comparison is no exact, but still a fair comparison. Some people taken responsibility for themselves and others don't.

  • Exactly !!! Bring on the negative thumbs you bunch of cowards that can't accept the truth.
