By the way, advertising is a MAJOR way to pay for videos that are free to watch. This annoyance avoids directly paying for the production of intellectual property. I am sure Nick enjoys doing this, but also would like to be compensated for his work, so thus advertising. Let's not complain about it, but suggest how to make it more entertaining. By the way, I am up to being a consultant for your show. Contact me :-)
I wanted to bring to your attention that Karnn Age Lite was released last week, which is the 200 msPoints version of Karnn Age. Everything is left intact in that version except that only 3 songs remains (for filesize limits).
I thought you'd be interested to know since you ended Karnn Age review by noting it would be an automatic buy at 200 points, which it now is !
Haha, thanks man. I hope we can get even better, but I really appreciate the compliment. I would love to get even more comedy stuff in there, not so much the set up stuff just like improv stuff, once I get more comfortable in this format you should start seeing a lot more of it.
BTW, in Air Legends you can see when your score hits, and how many points an attack gave you from the +/- score displays under the players plane (can see it in the video).
I saw the show, I loved it, and I don't have much against them advertises.
As far as I understand, the advertisment works in that they pay for being featured. They didn't demand him to change the show for their sake. That's what he is offering - and it is a reasoanble offer.
Duality blew it though, they are not really advertising properly if you ask me. The game looks awesome, but it also looks completely overwhelming and in some cases old school'ish.
I'd love to hear your detailed criticism about our Duality ZF ad. You can send me a personal email if you prefer.
I'm glad you like the game. I hope our later ads reflect it better.
If we don't show off craziness, people think it's just a flash game. If we show off craziness, it draws crowds but scares away people with the difficulty. To be clear, there are Training modes that shoot 7 bullets at you within an entire stage, all the way to Godlike modes that put what you see above to shame.
First off, you lucky bastard working with your twin brother on video games... Man that must be completely awesome.
Second off, I explained myself to Matt (aka your little brother), so talk to him.
Just in case, I would like to say that the ad was interesting in that it contained gameplay footage, but if you want to make a catchie ad, you need to go the marketing route. I know, I know... But again, as I said to your brother: Coding and developing is 40% to 60% of the work; the rest is important
Thanks man, it is pretty cool. Ok, I'll have a chat with him. (Since he's my twin, he's not my little brother, ha ha!) The ad could definitely be better and we know this. We'll listen to any and all criticism. The fact we're even advertising means we're doing more than the vast majority of Community (Indie) Game, but we also want to do it right. So, thanks for the feedback.
FYI: The collision tolerance levels and the optimal control scheme allows you to deal with a normally overwhelming barrage of bullets. It lets you kick ass. The game is supposed to be old school. We're bringing back the arcade action of old school shoot 'em ups, and trying to perfect it. We're going retro, but fixing the annoying flaws of retro.
This fits our philosophy:
"Give power to the player. Difficulty should arise from enemy strength, not player weakness."
Enjoyed the episode as always, but Ithis new advertising thing is a little overboard. It definitely feels like Duality: ZF featuring XNA Roundup, instead of XNA Roundup with a mention of Duality.
I get that you want a bit of income, but this Duality thing is kind of overkill. If you end up reviewing it, I honestly won't trust the review at all. Simply because at the moment, it seems like they own the show. I had to stop and skip their commercial. Other than that it was great!
Duality ZF is developed by myself, Jason Doucette, and my twin brother, Matthew Doucette.
We pay for the advertisement.
We'd love for XNA Roundup to review Duality ZF upon release, since we know they'll love it, but we aren't going to... since it's a conflict of interest buying advertisement slots within the same review show.
I apologize that our ad was just a re-hash of the older ads. We are working on improvements that aren't complete, thus we can't show them off yet. ...soon! ;)
@Khalos44... "If you end up reviewing it, I honestly won't trust the review at all."
Just to address this directly, this is a good point. We were worried about the integrity of our future review (both Duality ZF devs and XNA Roundup producers) when we bought our first ad. Trust in us that we will solve this problem in a way that it will be clear we have not compromised the integrity of this (great) show...
Sorry if I sounded a bit harsh in my first comment. I really do love the show.
I just HATE ads. I don't care how good or bad it is, I'm not going to watch a 2min ad of something if I can voluntarily skip over it.
I'm glad you won't push to get reviewed, because it would indeed be a conflict of interest. I think the biggest problem is at the moment, Duality is the only thing that has ever sponsored the show, there is no variety. It just seems like way too much overexposure.
I found myself skipping the XNA Roundup intro to get to the games, so I understand. When you only have 30 seconds of free time and a 5 minute video to watch, you skip everything you can.
For people who've seen earlier Duality ZF ads, there's nothing new to see until we showcase new features (currently being coded). But for people who watched this episode for the FIRST time, they now know about our game. Marketing is tricky...

When is Duality due out?
richardhutnik 2 years ago 2
we are submitting it to Dream Build Play (20 days) and then will examine our launch options at that time.

So, you looking to be soon in a "Gone Gold" state? That is cool. Hopefully it will be out a reasonable length of time.

I picked up Biology Battle originally when it was 800 points and it was a great purchase - now at 400 points its a no brainer.

I agree. Every episode is better than the last!

I like this format and both of you have good chemistry. The show had flow to it and moved on at a good pace.
Also I liked the idea of checking out missed titles from the past.
I do have a suggestion but I'll PM you... :)

Green + number: good.
Red - number: bad - team damage.

I believe Nick is just saying its sponsoring,
the developers are two guys here on youtube i believe.
I assume they just asked nick to introduce their game cause I am sure hes nice enough to plug their game for free.
I could be wrong though and they could be paying him but as far as I know they are not an actual company they are just two normal guys(brothers?)
