  • What year was this made? Was this Kruschev-era? Post-Kruschev? Glasnost?

  • and thats why you dont play with matches

  • :(

  • 1:43 is about berlin

4:52 united states are launching a nuclear bomb

  • tbh i was satisfied when that on match in the end*died*...the fat one..cause thats the only one i didnt like from the start

  • what's the name of the song at the beginning pls?

  • What's the song at 5:10 untill the end?

  • I was rooting for the green army

That weapon of mass match-striking was a dirty trick

  • @kozmon0t ya me to

  • great job, director!

  • Peace have no language.

  • ипать, такой срачь вокруг мульта развести... судя по всему исход холодной войны не устраивает обе стороны конфликта... но в общем, да, вариант из мульта мне тоже кажется более кашерным)

  • @Jazzyjonno At us every second governor the swine and the murderer, but the Russian person not to break!!! Great Russia!!!!!!!

  • Great animation!!!

  • good

  • hahaha this is great

  • Great animation so simple and full of meaning. I remember it when i was kid. The important thing for me isnt the existance of ''art house'' animations. But that USSR endorsed it and supported it.

  • Isn't the whole human history a reference for this

  • I wonder how they got the sticks to stand up like that. I think this is the Sino-Soviet border conflict.

  • This is how the world is today and how it might end one day

  • They need to make more movies like this.

  • @MrShootinputin

they wont. You cant sell ''matches'' in plastic blisters for 12-15 euro a piece. You cant have cartoons, video games or tv series about them.

I use matches as a metaphor..

  • there isn't supposed to be any historic references

  • Agreed dude :)

  • amazing

  • there is a sense.

  • ...puts me in mind of Imagine by John Lennon.

  • That was funny how the border piece got knocked over wile they were marching and caused them to fight over the territory. lmao

  • They had to use their Tor-M1 ?

  • Dumb blues! They started that border conflict and they used weapons of mass destruction!!!

  • This is a great video.

Why do we have to discriminate each other from their faith, religion or race? Because all of us have the same mother. If there's any conflict, just use the compromise instead of gun and bomb.

5 stars for this good video. :)

  • Atombombe

  • this is a cool video, cheap but effective

  • jesus christ this little video sparked one big ass debate!

  • the way i see things, america, artistically speaking is weak. Why? well, someone with a cold is usually weakened (but not you, mr badass, right?) and capitalism seems to be arts version of aids, look at your tv. look at the internet. its fucking everywhere, sucking up all the time and effort it can. Communism produces commercial free art, look at the animations from the 1980's era and notice that they arent feature length toy commercials, rather they are depth filled artworks, just saying

  • this is awsome and proves a good point

    war dosen't achive anything good

  • mind=blown

  • Motherfucker blue'S !!!!!

    They are the begginers xDxDxD

  • genial!

  • A great idea!!!! =)

  • You can really see that with quite simple means you can still make a brilliant animation.

  • This animation is brilliant, who made this?

  • Garri Bardin russian director

  • perfect!

  • love soviet children

  • Finally I fount it in Youtube.

I love this animation since I see it.

You don't need russian to understand, in a War, no one wins.

    GRAET and SIMPLE.

    Yago

  • Помню было, что-то в этом роде про застолье. Там было прикольно. Я больше люблю наши советские мультики с мультипликацией или кукольные.После всяких биенале типо осторожно религия, порой понимаешь, почему разгоняли бульдозером в 60-х.

  • Brilliantly done, loved it.

  • Very moving at the end but the cavalry made me laugh, such a funny image

  • Haha, the machine gun, the horses, bloody brilliant.

But seriously, this is a master piece.

  • Excellent! 5/5

  • Гениальный сценарий.

    Гениальный фильм.

    Гениальная музыка.

  • It's amazing what you can do when you combine Hard work and talent, This movie had such a small budget, yet it's so powerfull and moving, a lot of studio's nowdays could take a lesson from this.

  • we all come from the same matchbook! i like it.. and its a great animation!

  • Indeed... we all do come from one 'hole'

    Great animation!

You can even draw distinctions between those times (Soviets vs NATO)...

  • otherwise a great piece of soviet cinema ...

  • Great work, no doubt about it.

For the record, the Cold War was still alive and well in 1983. The last "thaw" didn't start until 1986 at the earliest.

  • Thanks for the upload! This made me cry when i was 3-4, great animation!

  • really, great video

  • great video

  • Beautiful, simply beautiful!!!! I don't care where does it come from, its message is universal.

  • ekselent!!!

  • war in any language is unsuccessful. i'm strangely comforted that this comes from the Soviet Union, because it's something i believe here in the US.

  • lots of people in the USSR didnt want war either

  • Truely powerful

    Amazing work

  • Que buen video cabrones!!!

  • Amazing, I love this, The URSS know how to make good stuff.

  • IN Spanish.

  • Its URSS in spanish. Just like its CCCP in Russian. Get a life!

  • Your kind of obssesd with the URSS.

  • ты мудак.

  • Wowzers!

  • Simply POWERFUL. Amazing

  • una brillante animazione, compimenti

  • Brilliant... perfect, classic film.

  • clap, clap

  • Perfect!!!

  • EXPECTACULAR!

  • A great, great movie!! Nothing more to say.

  • People kill each other for the leading position, but vanity always can give birth only to the other vanity..

  • Que bonito.

  • AMAZING...a creative remake of NORMAN McLAREN's "NEIGHBORS"

  • Soviet animation - is the best one in the world!

  • No they weren't killed

  • in the 30's, stalin did kill plenty of artists. after that it was unheard of that the USSR shoot an artist. solzhenitsyn for example was deported

  • yeah, OK, you are right

  • Gilnar13. You are idiot.

  • I wonder—why are you so quick to insult, when he's made an admission of error?

  • Soviets were occupying Afghanistan beecause Americans give to Afghanistan weapons and money for killing people. Now Americans occupying Afghanistan. So?

  • При чем тут политика и отстойный мультик?

  • ты не нигилист, ты мудозвон! (it is read like "moodozvon")

  • Shut up, idiot. Soviet Union wasn't bad because rednecks say so.

  • I'm no redneck and I still say that the Soviet Union was bad. I say that communism is bad and what the government of the Soviet Union did to its people was bad. I do enjoy a number of films made by the soviets. This is one of them.

  • Flashmikko, tell me how S. Union (post 1956) was bad. Tell me why Communism is bad, and what the Soviet government did to it's people which was so bad (post 1956) and why it was worse then what other nations did.

To me you sound like you base all your knowledge on the (famously bad) US school system.

  • Sorry, but life in Soviet Union had many advantages, and was of relatively high quality (compared to rest of world, also West) until the 80's, when it began to decline. Of course freedom, democracy etc was lacking, but Soviet Union was advanced in other aspects of social life.

  • Oh, and I called that idiot a redneck because he talked like one and looked like one.

  • First let me ask right up front, could we keep this a civilized debate and not decend to deragatory name calling? (Not that you presented any evidence of such a thing but it's just an up front request) It's funny that you immedietly ask what was bad about the soviet union during the years that Stalin wasn't in power because I would really have a lot more to say about the sins of the soviet government (say shooting their own men for retreating). It doesn't fall under what you ask but it's bad.

  • Now, about the nationalized education in America, I'll have to admit that it's one thing that's lacking a bit as of now. Most of my good education comes from reading on my own and talking to people that were educated back when it was much better or from private schools.

  • Now, on to Communism. The main problem that I have with it is that it doesn't work. I admit that it's a beautiful dream but it's something that humans are not set for by nature. Humans want to succeed in something and do much better in something when there is a personal initiative to do better. Let's look at the soviet animators for instance. No matter how well poorly their films did, they were always paid the same as the next animator. Where's the initiative to do well? There is none.

  • About the bad things that the Soviet Union did. I have two big ones. The first was lie to their people about the world around them. If you look at their cartoons and propaganda, they depict the rest of the world as being a terrible place to live where only the extremely wealthy can afford to live a good life and the rest are oppressed or unemployed. That certainly wasn't true about the United States. They said that Hollywood pictures about the luxuries that most Americans enjoyed were lies.

  • Now with the second. The Soviet Government would not allow their people to leave the borders of the country to see the world for themselves. They were trapped in a cage. A rather large cage but nevertheless a cage. The Berlin Wall is a perfect example of this. People are not meant to be trapped like animals in a zoo. If people want to leave a country and go somewhere else to either work or live a new life, they they should be able to do so. The Soviet Union didn't allow that.

  • I think I have written enough for right now. I am now awaiting your response.

  • Tbh, I think you have good purposes, but you are biased against USSR without your will. Sure, like I am against US. But don't lecture me about USSR, I know many people who spent good years there, (and many who didn't either).

What bad things in USSR, were simply lack of democracy, bureaucracy and often lack of goods you want to buy.

  • Well, I'm glad that we were able to keep this civilized. I guess when we come down to it, we both have our biases when it comes to each other's countries. I do try to base my statements on what I believe is un-americanly-biased (I've actually talked to people who lived in the Soviet Union). I'm not trying to lecture, you simple asked me and I'm trying to reply. In fact, so we don't take up so much space of this board, could we continue this discussion via personal messages? I enjoy this talk

  • 1. People COULD leave a country for vacations, or whatever. People COULD move away from USSR (especially Jews, they were granted extra rights). This was common after the death of Stalin. This is again US sources kicking in.

    2. Berlin wall was completely necessary for the survival of Eastern Germany. You understand, most of their doctors, engineers, intellectuals.. Were leaving the country for Western Germany. DDR would not be able to survive with such brain drain. Brutal, sure. Necessary, yes.

  • 1. Lie to their people? Hahaha! Not even closely as you describe it. This is simply ridiculous. US was indeed presented as a capitalist country, very bad to live in. BUT THIS WAS BY PROPAGANDA. Just like US did to USSR (and still do). In TV, US and America were mostly presented as Cowboys, living a wild life, or insulted in some way. But often there weren't much bias either against them in TV.

So you are really once again basing your knowledge on American stuff.

  • Communism was to be done in stages. Sure, it and USSR didn't work (mainly because most of the world was fighting it..), but doesn't mean it's evil.

Oh, and there is ALLOT of initiative. Fame, and respect, and artistism are some of them. Soviet government did it's best to encourage artists, and gave them a significant amount of freedom, to even criticize the Soviet government and Soviet Union.

Not everything is about how much money you can make Oh, and successful people did live well in USSR

  • sure make your point in PM.

  • But main things told about America in Propaganda had much truth in them, like the many homeless, the large poverty and crime rates. This was mostly unheard of in USSR (not saying there were poverty here, there was, but not any homeless or beggars. And crime rate was very low), so people didn't really believe in this either. So you can't say it was all lies.

  • It was desperate time, and similar to German orders to shoot anyone who retreated during 1944/1945. But I agree, it was barbaric order by Stalin nonthe less.

PS. Education in US is pretty much sub standard compared to most of the European ones. And there is still this bias versus Soviet Union, like there was in Cold war.

  • Great!

  • Nice

  • real good material! thx for that

  • nice, that's all ^^

  • Yeah. I remember it! It was one of the standart propaganda toons of the cold-war time ... :) No one wanted war this time.

  • it`s 1983, cold war was end at this time.

  • Cold war was on its last raise.

  • You guys will be surprised... but cold war strikes back now again and again... ehhh... =(

  • kleva! Mne ponravilos'.

  • so good, so 'correct', so moral...

and, as usual, not helping people prevent conflicts...

  • Sarcasm doesn't prevent conflicts either. At least this might have inspired a little thought among viewers.

  • no, it doesn't, i fully agree with you.

  • It was talantly made. Art couldn't prevent conflicts already happened and crimes already commited. But it gradually make people a bit wiser.

  • A very well made animation. I kind of knew how it will end when I realized it was a conflict between MATCHES.

  • ^^ no war

  • ... wooow... so deep :P
