  • I've owned several of these. Loved every one of them. You have to watch your fuel mixture if youre running boost. It'll pop the head gasket without even thinking about it. They will run lean in the upper RPM range and then pow! Glad it was just the head gaskets and not something worse.

  • wow a dyno shop tech that doesnt know what he is doing. always monitor engine vitals. dont get me wrong im sure that motor was built to spool that turbo quickly but i would have tryed to let off the gas. i mean didnt your wide band go " SHIT!"

  • actually a/f was good till it went from 13psi to max in less then a 1/4 of a second. when the turbo spooled, it was instant max boost.

  • Because rice cans and body kits are so fucking gay, Im into keeping the car the way it was when I came off the factory lines, or convert it to an only japanese market trim kit, thats as far as I'd go.

    The real deal is in the motor, what series motor you put in it. There are plenty of under rated and powerful motors made by foreign companies that have potential.

    But its all in the build. It just so happens they get no respect for being FWD and a 4Banger.

    Mustangs and camaros and shit like that are the scene girls of the car world. I think they are overrated, ugly, and played out.

    Cars from the late 60's, or a brand new challenger are where its at.

    And I will never buy a new import, or new american. All of them are ugly and have no real style or class, just heaps of metal and plastic.

    But Im into Late 80's and Early 90's Tuning, Like Toyotas, and Honda CRX's.

    And I have beat mustangs in my car, some, but not all. So don't knock it until it happens to you.

    And they don't realize the possibilities for them cars. They are honestly endless. You can take any motor from almost any year Honda/acura and drop it into a CRX. I can take a motor from an Acura RSX Which is goes as low as a 2.0 With over 200 HP Stock, and use any of the endless mods to beef that motor up. Not to mention the CRX doesn't even weigh over 2000 pounds.

    Now I hate rice cans and body kits.

  • did you know the ls7 has a better power to weight ratio then the fc20, which is a 250ish hp 2.0....

    the displacement means nothing, engine weight is the only important thing, the ls7 weighs about 100-150 pounds more, and gets over double the power....

  • they are not all that much lighter then old muscle cars... the nova ss weighs less then 600 pounds more then a 2009 civic, which is 2900 roughly

    the old amcs were under 3000 pounds....

  • buddy has a 93 with 115k miles and ran 14psi regulary on the stock motor

  • I thought for sure when I dyno'd my 5.0 that I spit out a gasket, but that was three years ago and still G2G. 148,000 stock motor (head gaskets too) with 10 PSI 62mm turbo. 445 horses to the wheels reliably. However, if I'd left the vacuum hose off, it would have either done the same as yours or split the block in two! I hope yours was just the gasket.

  • how big of a job was it to replace the head gasket, im guessing u had to take the heads off? cause mines blown on my 04 GT but i think when i replace it im gunna port the heads and throw a cam in but i didnt really know what was involved in replacing the gasket
