@khan233 They were looking pretty bad at the time when I made that comment (they were 29th in the NHL at the time IIRC) Now, they aren't that bad, but they might run into the same problem the Oilers had a few years ago, treading water, fighting for the 7th and 8th playoff spot.

Of course the Oilers was unexpected, maybe even more than Carolina. The Oilers was like 7th in the west heading into the playoff. Why can't it be unexpected if the team won it before? When Tampa Bay won 2004 that was not unexpected even if they never won before.

@khan233 They were looking pretty bad at the time when I made that comment (they were 29th in the NHL at the time IIRC) Now, they aren't that bad, but they might run into the same problem the Oilers had a few years ago, treading water, fighting for the 7th and 8th playoff spot.

the fact that it will be 5+ years before we make it to the finals again, is a really sad and heartwrenching fact =(
but we got ourselves in this hole, and now we gotta dig ourselves out of it. if this little "minicamp" Quinn has setup doesn't right the sinking ship we're on, we'll have to gut the whole roster because there wouldn't be any other choice

we shouldnt get too excited about eberle, i mean sure he was a great player in the WJC but players like him are almost always duds when they get to the big leagues

@prontoshadylane but the biggest thing we need is skill...and thats what eberle has, and he's also upped his game if anything since the oilers drafted him which is definitely more than what a few of their first rounders have done (no names will go mentioned...schremp, pouliot, et all...except for like fuhr, lowe, and smyth. those are like the only 3 non-flameout first round picks for the oilers ever)

Of course the Oilers was unexpected, maybe even more than Carolina. The Oilers was like 7th in the west heading into the playoff. Why can't it be unexpected if the team won it before? When Tampa Bay won 2004 that was not unexpected even if they never won before.

I completely agree...but as much of a die-hard and loyal fan as I am, I extremely doubt that we'll make the playoffs this year. the best we can do is to tank the season and go for taylor hall....but at the same time I don't want another playoff-less season =(

Actually yes. There are a number of Penguins fans in this area for some reason. But even so...what is the issue there? You speak negatively about the team and region, but forget the players and staff are the ones who are winning the cup first and foremost. So, trying to insult the team is like saying the players didn't earn it at all which is pretty fucked.

CBC I think is the last major network in North America who does good opening montages. NBC used to do it here in the States with its NBA coverage. I've literally got chills watching this. If you're not ready for game 7 after this then you shouldn't be a sports fan. Only way this video can be made better is with the old HNIC theme song.
