I agree with this vid, the Storm 2 is simply awful, all blackberrys i've seen, seem to contain crappy, cheap hardware. My advice is if you're think of getting a blackberry. dont, buy a HTC handset (far better hardware)
@jsmvids your problem is that you are either using the full qwerty keyboard rather than SureType, which works much much better, or you have fat hands.
If you do not have the magnetic case, the phone goes in standby to preserve power..... (Common Sense) So to unstandby the phone, you press the lock feature on top. This prevents people "Butt Texting/Phoning" or turning the phone on in your pocket.
If you have the magnetic case, well the phone goes standby inside the case and when you pull it out, its automatically on.....
@ChrigerS All this sounds great, but its all faffing around to fix what is a design flaw. The samsung galaxy S2 gets around this be having a proper recessed pressable button on the front screen at the bottom which releases from standby, the the touch screen is good to go.
100% Agree with VendettaSLPK Quote "VendettaSLPK You do realize before you can enter your password if the phone is locked you have to unlock the phone with the button on the top of the phone right? I have this phone absolute amazing would not trade it for anything. "
Wrong....! You can see in this video no buttons are pressed apart from the screen... which then reluctantly comes back to life. The touch screen is unresponsive and the technology is flawed. This is the worse phone I have ever had! Also which idiot put the back space button next to the enter button... typing your password is hopeless!
lots a people are havin trouble with there storm2, the make call key, bb key, return key and end call keys dont work ... have to do a battery pull..... HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!
I have same problem. I cannot make the call or some times cannot end the call. Donno what to do. Additionally now battery has stopped charging through the charger, but charges through laptop cable. Looks like the connector has conked off. Can some one help?
The Storm 2 is designed to not allow you to even press or click the touch screen while it is locked. This is to ensure greatest battery life as the backlight will not come on due to every pocket press or screen rub. it is an amazing feature which the electric screen was a great fix compared to the original suspended technology!
But in this video the screen is shown to eventually come off of standby anyway, after a number of screen presses of equal pressure.
It would do the same thing in your pocket anyway, save for the wallet blackberry give you with the phone, which you can then lose and have to carry everywhere, and put your phone in and take it out of.
I should also do a video showing how poor the screen is when entering characters and how inaccurate it is.
Why bother with a touch screen at all then? It is clumsy to type, and has flaws. It's impossible to type your password correctly first time. So now you're telling me there's another issue - they had to apply this "fix" so the battery wouldn't run flat from the screen lighting up?
You do realize before you can enter your password if the phone is locked you have to unlock the phone with the button on the top of the phone right? I have this phone absolute amazing would not trade it for anything.
I really must say, this phone is hopeless. The poor touch screen response kills the thing dead.
It's easy to make typing errors unless you have the hands of a 5 year-old. Also backspace and enter and right next to each other... so go to correct an error and you press enter instead...
No wonder you have TEN attempts to enter your password. The manufacturers must have known this was an issue from the start!

@sneakyu I agree there, you are trying to type in your password, just as you go for the enter button you can easily hit delete!

The software/unit is just unresponsive.
