  • Great Garden my friend,....when ya show us the lettuce heads bolting with the seeds,....for a sec i thought they were dandelions,....lol....great progress there in your garden, i remember seeing kohlrabi announced in seed catalogs and lumber&hardware stores, but i've never tasted this veggie,....ya think it will grow well here? Thumbs up to ya Mrs. Family Chauffeur,...hehehe....and thankin' ya for another AWESOME UPLOAD!! =D

btw, that Sam's a smart critter, veggies are better than meat.

  • @qualqui thank you thanks you. I am very excited about the growth being this is my first year & the soil or lack there of was sooo so bad. Those cucumbers have been busy the last few days. Lots of babies. Kohl Raabi grew no problems in Pa for me, all summer. Here it is a very early spring and fall crop. I will be surprised if the "ball" forms. Pick your coolest part of the year to try it. Even the children I give this to really enjoy it! You are very welcome as always. Much Love, A

  • What types of squash is that at 5:52?

You have so much growth! Looking beautiful!

  • @madeofyucca I don't see squash at 5:52. I have Hopi, Chirman ( an old Japanese variety), Turks Tubin, Shamrock going right now.

  • @artnuwa11 oops 6:52

  • looking really fantastic!

  • @skybirdbird Thank you!

  • @neacie71 HUmmm, that is interesting. I have grown basil in a few regions & have never seen anything munch it. What kind of bug? Some say you can use a mild natural dish washing soap diluted with lots of water,or a mild pepper spray in a spritzer bottle. You can also get some lady bugs. Let me know how it is going. Love, A

  • whats funny i have monstrueux de viroflay spinach i planted last winter i cut it back so much and i tried to let it go still hasnt bolted i wish i didnt pull most of them out but the 2 i didnt still going strong and still have the tender taste

  • @MajorRager76 Oh my, yes, I have that spinach too. What a great flavor compared to others, esp. store spinach! That would have been a great specimen for seed since it is taking so long to bolt. Last year when my 1,000 heads of lettuce bolted I labeled the seeds for the last ones to bolt. They are the ones that I am going to try to get to go later into the spring for us, every year. Maybe you will get lucky & have one male & a female. If you see fresh pollen & the female is close, rub the male...

  • @MajorRager76 on her.

  • those cactus that are popping up are they like Nopales type cactus? I know you can eat nopales but they have to be cleaned of their spines very carefully (of course LOL) you may be able to eat the cactus.

  • @PsalmsNmyrrh Yep, that is what they are. Did the research, the entire thing is edible. Even the seeds can be made into flour! A South American friend sent me a recipe!

  • Things are growing quickly over there! If you place your strawberry planters where you want a strawberry patch, they will just set down : ) Or just catch them in more planters!

  • @Helioforge Yep. Xo, A

  • Do you let the pods dry or do it before? I will have to do this soon. Also, for radishes, do I let the pods completely dry also? Thanks for your great advice. It is a pleasure knowing someone such as you.

  • @thegoodgreen1 When radish, mustard greens, kohl rabbi, broccoli, broccoli raab, beans, peas or any other pod easy pops open when a small amount of pressure is applied with the finger tips, along the seem, it is ready for harvest. If you are due for lots of rain & they are just turning brown and not ready to pop you can uproot the entire plant, hang upside down over a bin and let dry all the way, in doors. Bean & peas should be let go as long as they can outdoors. Collect entire plant & hang...

  • @artnuwa11 Thank you very much for the info. This heat is killer in SC this year.

  • @thegoodgreen1 it sure is, but this is my third year here and all of them have been Hades hot!

  • @thegoodgreen1 Around the middle of your growing season pick your very best pea & bean plants and let them mature on the plant. The plant will stop producing new pods. That way you can have great seed stock. Your secondary plants can be kept producing more & more by picking young & often. Many ppl make the mistake of waiting until end of season to collect seed. This works with some plants. But for the very best squash, cucumber, tomato, peas and bean seed stock take from mid season growth.

  • @thegoodgreen1 Squash, eggplant, okra and cucumber all must go way past edible stage for good viable seed. As we get deeper into the season you will see what it looks like. You are very welcome. I am thrilled to help others along. Much respect to you!

  • Some really amazing growth in such a short time. Can't wait to see everything fully mature. Well done my friend. :)

  • @jwlrymkr Thanks, Xo, A

  • I'm jealous of all these great gardens. I gave up planting this year at least for now. We have had an absolutely horrible spring so far where I live. It simply will not quit raining.

  • @USAPatriot63 Don't give up. I am dealing w/ the opposite. No rain and temps in the 90's!
