@0ne0fTheFour now are you just saying that or do you have actual proof? The furthest back of anybody i know (family tree) is 1410, an English Knight by the name of John something (this is on my Great Uncles' side)
I wonder what he REALLY looked like. I bet he was handsome. I've been in love with him ever since the movie Brave Heart. I wonder if there were any paintings done of him when he was alive. I'm dying to know what he really looked like.
@batlady2 they say he had curly brown hair, as well as a beard, and dawned a blue tartan for his kilt (when he wore one) not much like mel gibson i would imagine.
@ertren6 i wish I was born in that time period because even though there was much more disease and restless war, as there always has been, i think that the simpler times are much better. I agree with you though. I too would've valiantly fought at his side
The battle at Stirling was on a bridge not an open field, Wallace lured the English onto the bridger then attacked from both sides, thats use'in your wits. I love the movie although its pretty historically innacurate. Wallace was kinda like a Robin Hood, if you will, he lived with his men in the woods ambushing english troops as they moved through the country. I read he was a very brutal man and would torture English prisoners till they begged for death.
the 4 ppl who disliked this video where killed by william wallace after he consumed them with fire balls from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse.
William Wallace was just the interim leader during the wars of independence, Andrew Moray started the rebellion and Robert Bruce led it to victory 20 years later. Wallace led the bit in the middle. A lot of Scottish history has been skewed because of Braveheart, a film written by a descendent of Wallace.
I'm not saying he wasn't a hero, he was, but he was also just a farmer who got caught up in something Andrew started and Robert finished.
Respect and love for William Wallace and the idea of real Freedom and peace in this World! Fight for real freedom people and don´t let your brain washed by propaganda!!!!!!
@Nostro200 I think that's true for many of us who were ignorant of European history. However, I think that Millions knew who he was, long before the movie came out. And even then, let it be a movie that tells the tale - as long as it is told...and better yet, remembered.
wallace was a thief and a rapist, he used to terrorise all the other scottish clans, he isnt the heart of scotland, the people of scotland are and this beutiful country, the cairngorm mountains
you werent alive during 1270 -1305 so whats the point in making those ridiculous claims? no one alive today will ever know who this man was, we just know he fought for his country and died for it
We know that men in those days were hardened by a harsh brutal life modern people wouldnt last a week in, never disrespect anyone from that time period, we can only imagine how hard life was in those days
@MisericordiaVerdader how do you know that he fought and died for his country , as you just told everyone else you werent alive during the 1200s , so how can you know he even existed , there is abspolutly no evidence not writtintg , no photos , no papaer work and not even a painting so how do you know he existed

@1987iantaylor the scottish clans all terrorised each other, just becuase wallace was bigger and stronger dont make him the only sinner , all clans fought and killed each other, he who is without sin , let him cast the first stone
William Wallace is a hero rarely seen Serbian people admires to him because it reminds us to our history and suffering. Scotts, be proud of this because you have a hero like William, many states would wish such a hero! Serbia has a many of them but keeps them with passion because people who practically have no history trying to incorporate them!
jus makes ye think, he won us the battle of Stirling, after losing Falkirk, he escaped, and him and his men went to France, then Wallace was persuaded by a scot that betrayed him, jus to get him captured when he came to Scotland, apparently edward bribed alot of people land, to help him find Wallace, disgrace how some some of the scottish people accepted a bribe, off the man (king edward) n by the country that was causing us hell
To be honest we know very little of what the real Wallace was like, what kind of a man and all that.
But what we do know is he fought against what he saw as tyrrany and the rape of his land by an evil, lecherous race, who wanted to rule the world of their time.
For that alone we present day Scots owe him homage.
Today, the ballot box replaces the sword. The spirit of the man we don't really know still lives with us. God bless him.
Yes and he had fireballs getting out of his arse and lightings from his eyes. A man that loves freedom is a rare sight, and this is what he was. Hail to Scotland from Greece for having such a proud son!
Your all really awesome. Wallace could have been short but in his time of life mayb the world considered him to be tall because of his running naked ness screaming highlander waving a gigantic sword at you. yourd shit yourself like the romans english did. BUT DUDE HIGHLANDERS LIVED IN HARSH CONDITIONS THEY WERE INCREDIBLY TOUGH..
I've always thought that maybe Wallace was simply so strong, dexterous, and cunning as a warrior, that despite the long length of his sword (5'4") perhaps he really wasn't all that tall. I'm not saying he wasn't for sure or anything, but I think people want to picture a tall man when they think of Wallace, but what if he was 5'5"? How much more impressive would that shit be? I think it would be more than possible given the lifestyle that he and all the rest of the highlanders lived.
Aye Wallace was and for ever will be Scotlands true hero, he was brave and itelligent he spoke 5 languages and in those times was impressive even today thats amazing.
Wallace will always live on in the hearts of Scots all over.
lots of people state that he was 7 feet tall, that he had a robust physique, but also; that he could should fireballs out of his arse. i think he was slightely taller then the average height in those days, i'd say about 5'5 or something? what do you people think?
HIstorians state he was at least 6ft 6 to have used a 6ft broadsword effectively in combat and i agree because ive felt the weight of his sword at wallace monument many years ago, most people had trouble lifting it off the ground.

Don't know why they marked this comment as negative; If you look at history, if I remember correctly, Wallace won a resounding victory at Stirling Bridge.......And that's about it. Now it was Bruce, once again if I remember correctly, who led the Scots to victory and independence at Falkirk.
It was what Wallace stood for that made him so strong. He didn't have the support of the necessary channels that would have ensured his victory. Had all of Scotland been with him at the time, this single victory at Stirling would be a completely different story than it is now.
William Wallace, patriot, liberator, hero and the saviour of Scotland.
Betrayed in 1305 by Sir John Stewart of Mentieth, the keeper of Dumbarton castle.A monument at Robroyston on the north east outskirts of Glasgow mark the place where Wallace was captured on August 3rd. 1305.

The young learn little of Wallace, it wasn't on the curriculum when I was at school.
He's an enigma and always will be but Mel gave us a taster of what he achieved in opposing the English. And made kids proud of their country.
To oppose a force so strong and numerous in those days required courage, no doubt about that.
The one thing the film got right was that we have a very very brave man who thought being Scottish was important.
And he may have been the first to believe this.
nacho1560 2 years ago 4
They don't want us to learn of Wallace....why? Because if Scots were told of OUR history we would become an independent nation again.

Don't know why they marked this comment as negative; If you look at history, if I remember correctly, Wallace won a resounding victory at Stirling Bridge.......And that's about it. Now it was Bruce, once again if I remember correctly, who led the Scots to victory and independence at Falkirk.
camshook 3 years ago
It was what Wallace stood for that made him so strong. He didn't have the support of the necessary channels that would have ensured his victory. Had all of Scotland been with him at the time, this single victory at Stirling would be a completely different story than it is now.

Cheers friend, all the Germans I've met are good people, the English get their backs up when we support Germany over England at sport
because Britain fought two World Wars against you,but they only lasted ten years while Scotland fought England for 800 years and Hitlers army wouldn't have stopped at Hadriens wall..self preservation.

indeed, has anybody else noticed that when england goes for the world cup it is "England is going to win the worldcup!" (ha ha ha) then again when Scotland goes for the european cup and wins it is "Britain has won!"
The sassanach will take advantage of scotland as long as we let them

Wallace was betrayed by John Stewart of Menteith, the keeper of Dumbarton Castle.Wallace was worshipped by the ordinary people, despised by the nobles.
They were jealous of his popularity among the common folk.WALLACE LIVES!
