I was allowed to stay up Saturday nights to watch Creature Feature as a 15-year-old, probably because my mom thought Wilkins was so eccentric. The cigar and glasses, as well as his monotone not-so-excited voice, were likely the keys to his success. He also was painfully honest about some of the dud movies they ran. But he also introduced me to the classics (Universal horror movies of the 1930s).
Bob Wilkins and Creature Features was a major part of my growing up in Oregon. We got KTVU on cable up there, and it was great. Going to miss you, Bob.
@jackskeets1 Wow....DISAPPOINTING!!! Somerville even mispronounced his name! So little for someone who gave us so much sittin' in front of the TV at 11:30 at night hoping that mom & dad didn't send us to bed. Shame on you KTVU - you undoubtedly spent more airtime regurgitating garbage about the 'Octo-mom'.... and I'll bet she never smoked a cigar in her life, let alone watch 'Attack of the Mushroom People'! God bless you Bob.... in this age of 'reality TV', you are and will be sorely missed!!!
i remember watching Creature Features when i was 8 yrs old as my folks played poker. I loved Bobs humor and being as i was a Trekkie, I really appreciated Bob's support of Star Trek. I was very sick as a child and watching Creature Features helped to take my mind off of my problems. My heart goes out to his wife and children.
I am so sad right now. He was a MAJOR part of my 70's growing up. Six million dollar man lunch boxes-KISS-Bruce Lee-STAR WARS-JAWS-Wacky pack stickers-MEGO toys-School house rocks and last but not least CREATURE FEATURES and CAPT.COSMIC......:(
Gee KTVU, thanks for spending thirty five minutes to a beloved KTVU personality. I'm so glad you spent five minutes on the switch to digital. Whew, you all have your priorities!
He was the best and a great buy to talk to.

36 seconds of tribute. Pretty pathetic KTVU. So much for your Bay Area heritage.
The man gave years of service to channel 2, and that's the best they could do.

I was embarassed that KTVU cared so little, about a man who gave so much.

Aeolis7...I agree with you 100%

What an embarassingly short and unaffected tribute to a Channel 2 legend. KTVU botched this one.

"Seconds," I think you mean. Otherwise, well said.

Ick, just noticed. Thanks for the correction.

@Jenniferkate I am assuming you meant to say 35 seconds... you are right, it's in bad taste.
