I've always loved this episode (although I get a little pissy when I saw how over the top the producers went to make the Thompsons look like total flakes) & thought that there was a lot of good done for both families. Allison's situation was a lot more simple - I think she just needed a bit more appreciation and for people to pitch in a little bit more. Bella's family seemed a lot more messed up with the kids not being able to do nice things.

I think it just goes to show what happens when a woman's allowed to run things!

But, I love this episode, going in I thought that Allison's family needed the most work, but watching I saw that both families were severely unbalanced, Allison needed more 'her' time and to be more of a woman and Bella needed to step back from the magic a little and focus on family. on most Wicca texts one of the big issues they have is balancing real life and the practice, you cant have too much of either and this episode showed that beautifully, I got teary-eyed on more than one occassion ^.^

I'm glad for the changes made by both sides but a coven really is like a family with the HP/HPS at the head.

If a pastor/priest of a church said "I need to focus on my family, so no more church services" it wouldn't be fair. It's worse in this situation because covens take the relationship even further since it's pretty much a family you got to choose. If the HP/HPS can't handle their duties, they need to appoint others to take their place.

Where did the coven go after this?

I don't think the thompson family were a true portrayal of a Wiccan family-they were a little extreme. However as a wiccan myself i understood some of their values. The talking to the fairies and reincarnated goddess parts were too far-fetched to be of much real value but i truly believe that each to their own. But if they are coming on a programme like wife swap then they have to be open to the fact that a lot of people are going to think that they are crazy or fake.

it only seems more realistic because as we grow up, we come across Jesus, Heaven, Hell, etc way more often. Even if your not religious, you run into people throughout your life time that are, and you become more familiar with it.
