@oddball163 yup haha and the funny part is that we're playing this exact piece for our school concert on thurs, dec 22. it was also performed in Allstate this year... repetition? i think so. but it's okay because this piece is AMAZING!!!
my middle school did this and everyone was saying how crazing my teacher is for picking that song. but we bombed it and it was better than a lot of the performances on youtube.
The part at 7:30-7:42 sounds so familiar...Was it used in a modern song? I was sight-reading this today and i've never heard this before and yet, I knew exactly how that 12 second part went. Someone help me please!
This is very nice performance. However, I feel like they're dragging a LOT as the movement progresses, starting with the melodic line in the cellos at about 2:18. It seems like it loses the momentum that they had built, after that. But other than that, they sound really good :)
I've never played this personally, but I would love to someday (viola player).
my high school orchestra (the mesquite high school symphonic strings from gilbert arizona! =D) is playing this song at carnegie hall in early april!!!! i'm so excited! no joke
@strawbanana12 i love this song, but i do say i was disappointed in the finale. It wasn't as huge of a tear jerker as i usually expect. and the opening is just the elegie and then later its 1st movement
dude im playing this right now. there's this one section where i think tchaikovsky just wanted us 1sts to jumble up our fingers, hes probably on a cloud laughing :p
lovely sound. this serenade might be my alltime favorite piece. because of that, i may be too critical when i say that the first chair violinist in the firsts does not seem to be "in" the piece at times. she just does not show emotions at some parts where i think u need to. but i may be too critical and music for the recording is amazing.
this and Dvorak's serenades inspire me everyday.

@moveyourbody468 This piece tends to drag at that point. My conductor had us work on not making it drag, regardless it still did.
