  • The woman reminds me of the late Margaret Dumont

  • People used to be smarter.

    What happen?

  • @joaquinvelasco they dropped the "ED" from past-tense letters. you set yourself up for that one.

  • I would have to say that Ms. Sheila Crystal is a good example and rarity that a good man would ever find in a good woman these days. It was certainly a pleasure to see this clip and admire a good woman when a man sees one. By the way, good women don't look like that anymore these days either.

  • Ew she was Macedonian not Greek.

  • @pixi2nv Macedonia is a name of a region in Europe! In 1951, Northern part of Macedonia belonged to Yougoslavia and Southern part belonged to Greece. So she said it correctly that she was from Macedonia, Greece. Although, it would be better if she said she's from Greek part of Macedonia.

  • Ooo it'll start in the rain!!

  • he is so quick with his comedy

  • "say the secret woid..."

  • "I ust dropped the opulos"... :D

  • must get a NEW 1952 DE SOTO....

  • Not before I get one first! Those doors are just SO WIDE!! DO WANT!

    :-O

  • @Nowekian My dad was a NYC cab driver/owner, he drove every kind of car hundreds of miles a day and he said the best built car, ever was the DeSoto, very reliable

  • Groucho is totally upstaged by the Greek lady, she doesn't stop

  • I love this show. I work for Macy's and this is a lot of money because $2 dollars Macy's money is a lot of money.

  • To bobh385 : The woman had 24 children!

  • And the car got 4 mpg. What a riot.

  • That was a lot back in 1952. Bear in mind also, gas was incredibly cheaper back then and the dollar stretched incredibly farther.

  • Yes I know, that was my point. petrol was a lot cheaper. The oil companies also bought out a lot of the public transport utilities and closed them down.

  • one of his best combacks on one show was after a lady said she had about 7-8 kids he said....."I love my cigars but I take them out of my mouth once in a while".............great!!!!

  • You fucking tool. You got the whole fucking thing wrong. He asks her how she has so many kids, and she says "well, i love my husband very much" - hence the line "well, i love cigars, but i take them out of my mouth once in a while." Jesus.

  • LMAO

  • His one liners were great, what a talent.

  • is guy is like clockwork

  • Wow. a commercial that actually talks about why you should buy the product.

  • I might have grew up in the 80's but Grocho Marx was the man, he had good decent comedy

  • My Pop had a 1959 DeSoto Firedome! Groucho was regular in our home every Thursday night during my formative years.

    Peace,

    Max

  • I wanna answer questions like that for a thousand bucks! XD

  • The contestants are so quirkie just amazing... this is GOLD compared to todays shows

  • I guess creativity just isn't what it used to be, huh? The best part? He makes comedic gold without ever making a single dirty joke or swearing.

  • HOw nice and unthreatening women used to be at that day and age...

  • Darn that bra burning craze! Darn it!

  • These contestants were something else.

  • makes me want to play Fallout again >xD

  • rofl

  • I luv her voice.... especially when she said w/authority " Wee Willie Winkie"...ahhhhhhh

  • ...yeah, truely ...the ladys voice is just gorgeous huh...

  • I really enjoyed this

  • There will never be another Groucho. He could make a joke out of anything - sometimes outwitting his guests so bad he made them look ridiculous just telling him their name and occupation! He will never be replaced.

  • kudos to all you youtubers who watched this!

  • I love this greek woman, I would love to hear the rest of her story!

  • 'And the 4th day; he took me to War.'

I had to pause this and have a lie down after that line.

  • who is the new equivalent of Groucho Marx? in terms of popularity of couse

  • conan o'brien possibly?

  • You have got to be kidding.

  • There is no equivalent.

the python guys (cleese in particular)are very good, but it's still a different kind of comedy.

  • SIMON AMSTELL!

well ok there is no equivalent but simon's still REALLY hilarious, look him up!

  • No disrespect ...but how can you mention Simon Amstell, SIMON AMSTELL ...in the same space a Groucho ...my god man!!

I feel TAINTED to even type his name lol...

I respect all are different ...it's be a boring world if not aye ;)

  • What can I say, I like them both! haha

They are so differewnt, you cant really compare

  • If you're going for a "never mind the buzzcocks" host, I'd say Mark Lamarr is a lot more like Groucho than Simon Amstell.

  • There will never be another comic genius like Groucho. His jokes are totally unscripted and improvized. No one - including Bob Hope - could outwit him. He was just too quick. Pure brilliance.

Too bad near his death he descended into senility, possibly from Alzheimer's disease.

  • Actually, in terms of style and influence, Bill Cosby is the modern-day successor to Groucho. He has often spoken of how major an influence Groucho was on his style, right down to the cigars. The Cos even hosted a brief remake of You Bet Your Life at one point.

  • the ad sounds like an antique ad except instead of the "new" 1952 desoto it would be "onsale here is a 1952 desoto."

  • Did anyone know the answers to any of those questions? Wee-Wlly Winky?

    This is great history.

  • yeah, I do, these were english nursery rhymes. I'm guessing that you are american 'cause you don't know these.

  • yeah acutally i knew all the answers to the nursery rhyme questions - they were pretty easy but then I grew up hearing them and read them to my kids

  • Did you notice the car commercial actually mentioned the qualities of the product?...shock absorbers, water proof ignition, safety-rim wheels...what happened to driving up mountains becoming the person you always wanted to be through purchasing a car, and such? Did companies in the 1950's actually compete by making better products instead of better commercials? What a concept.

  • @nikancuole I think they arent allowed to lie in commercials anymore, now instead of bullsh*****g about the product, modern commercials just plain bulls***t.

  • I really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing!

  • That lady is priceless! What a story!

  • Groucho was absolutly funny. Spontaneous and creative! Tks. to all who have posteed his clips.
