Riverside PD are assholes. I got stopped once in Riverside they were ASSHOLES> They REFUSED to believe me when I said i hadn't been drinking, kept fucking with me, asking me OVER AND OVER how many drinks I had. When the cunts finally realized I was sober they searched my car illegally because they just wanted to make an arrest for any squirrely excuse they could make up.
Well what would you do? This is probably the first time the lad ever pulled his boss over, and it's not something that you think would ever happen, but then it did. Would YOU really ARREST your own boss without hesitation? Would you not think for a moment that you might be fired for it? It's a difficult situation.
If your boss is breaking the law and arrest him or (if not a cop) report him to the police you can't be fired. If you're, you could take it to court and easily get your job back and then some (possible money for wrongfully firing you). By not arresting him the police officer got in much more trouble. I bet you are one of those people who would do whatever your boss/superior tells you even if it's against the law because you're too scared to stand up for what is right.
I WOULD have arrested him, but what I'm saying is, some people don't think about it right away like how you and I do. And you're kinda rude. There's no need for that.
You need to grow thicker skin, I wasn't being rude. If you're questioning whether you should arrest someone for a DUI when they are CLEARLY drunk just because they're your boss (or ex boss) then you shouldn't be a cop. It's not a difficult situation, it's a difficult situation if he causes an accident and possibly kills someone.
You were being rude. I'm not saying I was offended by it, but you were still being rude. And I KNOW, all I'm saying is that it's a difficult situation.
Not excuses. All I was originally saying was that it's a difficult situation because, as this is a rare occurrence, some people don't immediately think to arrest their boss for fear of repercussions on their part.
OK, but there's a difference, he didn't arrest his boss. THAT'S the problem. What he was thinking in his head doesn't matter, what he ultimately ended up doing is what matters and he made a bad choice both lawfully and morally.

And some wonder why there are so many people who are upset with police. This preferential treatment happens in most police departments.

No but you're trying to make excuses to defend his actions.
