Beck sang with Serge's ex-wife Jane Birkin, and he's been writing and producing their daughter; Charlotte Gainsbourg's new album for the last year and a half, should be released any day now...can't wait
Beck has been incredibly influenced by Gainsbourg, this song is a very well done and mutated version of Serge's Requiem pour un con, Beck also took the strings from Melody Nelson for inspiration in Sea Change.
Only in his very best performances does he have that look- 1:39- allowing us to catch a glimpse of the world he visits as he describes what it sounds like there and invites us into it. Absolutely brilliant!
He really does have such esoteric tastes, how many Americans are obsessed with Serge Gainsbourg lol! Beck sang with his wife Jane Birkin and produced his daughter Charlotte's new album. you have to hear S.G.'s Requiem Pour Un Con....and the drum part!!!!
dear thanks for the vids and all but this percussion is a tribute to Serge Gainsbourg, if you want i'll mail you the song with the percussion Beck uses in Landslide :)
It's funny you should mention that he sang with Serge's wife Jane Birkin(I'm sure you've seen it, it's hilarious), and he produced his daughter Charlotte Gainsbourg this year on her new album. I love the drum and percussive set up here, he does this often, with the two drummers and 2 percussionists etc. on too many songs and performances to mention, which S.G. song btw specifically is it here on yt somewhere?
yeah i've heard/seen that all.. i think that his interest in the Gainsbourg ladies may be inflicted by the fact that he worships Serge in a way? the song by he french is this - Requiem Pour Un C... , atleast so says my player
can some tell me the chords to the last part 2:07?

It's not really a solo. It's more of a bridge. Buy his simplicity is what makes him so delectable.

Def my favorite from the finale triple track of The Information.

Yeah for sure, I edited the song so it was just Landslide. I liked the rest of the song too but this part is definitely the best of the trio

LIFEONPLANETBECK 3 years ago
In fact, "Requiem for a jerk" is a remix by Faultine, Brian Molko only sings
