Beck has been incredibly influenced by Gainsbourg, this song is a very well done and mutated version of Serge's Requiem pour un con, Beck also took the strings from Melody Nelson for inspiration in Sea Change.

It's funny you should mention that he sang with Serge's wife Jane Birkin(I'm sure you've seen it, it's hilarious), and he produced his daughter Charlotte Gainsbourg this year on her new album. I love the drum and percussive set up here, he does this often, with the two drummers and 2 percussionists etc. on too many songs and performances to mention, which S.G. song btw specifically is it here on yt somewhere?
