  • @Mynus100 Good job not paying attention to the video when they talked about how hollow charges work. Also please learn to spell, thanks.

  • In the village of WANK!

  • they thought of everything except for an air attack by paratroopers

  • lolz german beated ´the crap out of france belgium and norway denmar and nearly USSR and many other countrys 2 times i hope not its going to be a third time

  • lol to bad the Brits, Americans, French resistance, Scottish, and Russia beat the crap out of germany and its allies

  • The river Meouse? maybe the river Meuse is ment.

  • It appears to me the fort needed a detached battalion of elite infantry housed on top of the fort, but most importantly, having no access into it.

The fort simply had no way of counter-attacking opposing infantry that managed to gain the top except for two bunkers with machine guns. Fixed emplacements such as these can't counter-attack.

  • that's an awesome fort, i want one!

  • It only had two guns bigger than 75mm, and they were only 120mm or 5" guns. That doesn't seem to powerful to me.

  • this was early ww2 no armor would be able to stand up to the guns up to this point

  • You'd think a fortress would at least sport a couple 155 mm or 205 mm guns, or larger, to destroy enemy strongpoints at long range.

  • they obviously thought their armament was strong enough and and plus they figured the germans would be moving in columns of lightly armored vehicles and horses with a few tanks along the way but they never thought about the newly founded paratroopers and dive bombers

  • The Germans used 420mm mobile mortars in WW l to destroy the forts around Liege. Larger guns in the fort could've made life difficult for large German gun emplacements. But you are right, a few more larger fort guns wouldn't have changed the outcome. What was criminal was that they had no drill to repel an infantry attack on top of the fort. They should have had surface posts as well as infantry trained to fight off invaders

  • the germans also had money a resources for that they were an empire then for the paratroopers the regular infantry would have been outclassed because the german paratroopers were one of the elite elements of germany(besides the SS)

  • @P51F86F4F15F22 Actually I would pretty much consider most of the German Heer as Elite vs the traininig everyone esle was getting at the time war broke out. Paratroopers, Gebrigs Corp, waffen SS were Elite, tip of a very powerful Spear. Only the British, UK, Australian, N.Zealand, Russian (Much later sort of) got good training. Paratroopers always recieving more. US Marine Corps! Uh Raah! Allthough I would consider the Soviet troops more brave then well trained.

  • @JuergenGDB yea i completely agree the soviets at the battle of stalingrad they were literally throwing troops who havent gone through basic training into combat it was later that the soviets gained the upper hand that they recieved better training the Brititsh always had elite troops which every military does some more than others but the germans had one of the most elite paratroopers no lie but they let nuts like hitler decide every move the army made therefore leading to their downfall

  • "hollow charge" or "Hohlladung" is the name you´re looking for.

    regards

  • Known as the "shaped-charge" in the US,the discovery of its effect was made by a man named Munroe (I believe he was a railroad engineer). The H.E.A.T. anti-armor weapon uses this power today. It also is used in creating implosion in nuclear weapons (Fat Man) used at Nagasaki. The terrorist in Iraq also use it in I.E.D.'s.

  • haha u know ur stuff good job

  • Excuse me but I didn' t understand what was the name of the high explosive that the German developed in 1939...if someone knows how write it, he will make me a big favour! Thanks!

  • Germany liberated Flemish Belgians from French Rule !

  • what the no they didn't

  • "Complicated chain of command" thats Beglium in summed up in 4 words.

And by the way; the germans cheated ;)

  • Sorry its war and no great!

    We dont need it!!!

    Peace forever!!

    Besten Dank!!

  • The first airborne pinpoint raid in history....marvellously executed.

Perhaps the Germans would have done more of these if Hitler hadn't been so put off by what happened on Crete.

  • @Reegatron2 There is a great novel out about their assault on Eben Emael. Devils with Wings by Harvey Black. Really gritty.

  • You need to visit this fortress!

Contact me if you need information!

I would be glad to help!

  • Here we go again, celebrating the bad guys. Why do I find it so compelling? Wish I didn't.

  • Very interesting documentary!! I've been in the fort for 4 times already!

  • Thanks, this is great!
