Most of these "jab locks" would only work against people who don't know how to tech (and presumably wouldn't do it accidentally by hitting all buttons in frustration). Falco's Laser Lock (and apparently Link's jab lock?) can lock a person into a non-tech-able bounce infinitely (if the stage were infinite), only the first ground hit can be teched out of, but if you miss that, prepare for pain.

Basically, it's the area that an attack covers.

Example: Ike's first jab HITS at about only a foot in front of himself. Small hitbox. His 2nd jab (the kick) has a bit of a longer hitbox because he reaches further out. The 3rd jab's hitbox covers the entirety of his sword and the arc it travels in. If you are in range of the hitbox, you are hit.

@DarkMark04 a hit box is an invisible area of an attack radius. here's a hit box [] and here's a character: (o) if they touch each other it's registered as a hit i.e. the word hitbox. Take marth's down A in the air: it sends the opponent flying downward if you hit the bottom part of it but if you don't hit it just right, they receive a less devastating blow that sends the opponent upwards instead. I hope you feel smarter now

Yeah, "advanced," glitchtastic techniques SHOULD be removed. I think that enabling grab-breaks (like they did with TMNT: Smash Up) would fix a LOT of problems with Brawl. As for jab-locking, that's an easy fix: just limit how many times a character can be bounced while down. After two bounces, make them lie flat.

DACUSes kinda piss me off, too. Especially Snake's, just because of how illogical it is. Sliding accross the stage with a mortar launcher? Ha! Doesn't make much sense.
