  • Cool vid! Ah your eyes are diffrent coloured, I like it :=) I agree with you even I´m German

  • I've been around the world, and I don't really see us, the US, as trying to make the world like us. We go to other countries, for example Italy, and we don't expect them to start acting American. But, we want to keep acting like Americans. We don't merge, we don't become Italians, we stay Americans-in-Italy. You get enough of us doing that, and the Italians start getting annoyed. Some parts of Italy just aren't Italian anymore - and it's our fault. What they really mean is, stay home.

  • Is it no tagbacks? otherwise I tag you back and run! :O

  • Oh now that's just wrong - LOL

  • Great vid Curt! Amazing stare contender there! lol

  • Thanks, Russ. That was about the only thing I knew how to answer correctly, LOL!

    Pretty sad, it is...

  • p.s. when you said "stare challenge" I thought of it as "stairs", so in my mind I imagined you going up and down stairs with a set time limit or something. :-/ Was that "calling boob ass" on your phone?

  • I hope you get to travel Curt. The travel bug was ignited in me when my parents dragged us kicking and screaming overseas when I was 13. We weren't going to Disneyland and that's all we cared about. But boy did another world open up to us. To me in particular. Suddenly my world had expanded, yet it was just out of reach as we had to come home. I hold my arms outstretched and I'm always heading in the direction of seeing and experiencing more (even if just in my heart). Btw, well said Curt.

  • I have to say that you summed it up very well. I gave up needing to be the best long ago, and have found since that I'm a lot better than I was when I had the need. This is yet another of your thought-provoking videos!

  • Thanks, Andy. I might need to balance this out with more silly for a while, who knows.

    :-)

  • I have yet to dislike ANY of your vids. Whatever you put up will indeed be enjoyed by many...

  • I love to use My Space to discover all sorts of underground, unheard of, amaxzing and awe-to-the-some bands from around the world.

And America's culture is way too competitive. If we'd just learn to relax and chill out and appreciate even being #2 in a few things, life would be much easier.

  • MySpace is just one of many sites that has turned the music industry on its ears (a pun perhaps?). And good on them for doing that - we were overdo for a shakeup.

I guess competitiveness is just another part of human nature, but, yeah, we should work harder to override that more often.

  • Agreed, but that's a tall order. If you think about it - the people who are here today have made it this far through the evolutionary process (or since the time of creation, depending on your outlook) because they competed that hardest and won. Darwin figured that out with scientific eloquence. So, putting away the competitive instinct is not only hard, I'd say it's impossible. That's why we have Vlogs, so we can vent about it. :)

  • LOL - I wonder what Darwin would vlog about if he were around today.

  • I know.. the tag games scare me.. I never know what to say.

    Lets ban the tag games!!

  • HA! Well, there have been a few where the questions immediately sparked answers, but for these I just couldn't get the creative juices flowing. This has more to do with me lately than those questions.

  • sighhh, don't get me started...lol...

  • On the America stuff or the MySpace stuff? LOL

  • mostly the america stuff...

  • How do you live in California and end up being so pale?!

  • LOL!

Lots of 30 SPF sunscreen. There was a time when I was constantly trying to maintain a tan but it became too much work and I was getting a few spots that worried me. So I stopped and now I'm a paleface.

    :-)

  • That's your new nickname... Paleface. Don't hate on it, it's truly an honor.

(I work the paleface every now and then too, except I go with SPF 50. I know, hardcore, right?) ;-)

  • I will wear that name proudly.

    :-D

And holy moley, 50 spf must be impossible to put on. 30 is thick enough as it is.

  • ahh I did wonder if you would post your own response to your question and I'm glad you did, interestingly the point you made about many Americans not leaving US was something I commented on one of responses. You live in a big country but it's an even bigger world out there

  • It's a huge slice of land, no doubt. But the solar system does NOT rotate around it, that's true.

Thanks, Steve. I'm glad this upload was a worthwhile effort (I go through a similar quandary with my vlogs that you've talked about with yours).

  • I will see more parts of the world, i know there's so much more than Europe haves to offer!!! Do i? I never got out of Portugal and the first place i go is NYC! Sick!

    I have myspace but i wish i hadn't!

I have to get Steve phone number and leave him an intercontinental message!

  • Felix, I'm envious that you've seen NYC, actually. I still never have.

And LOL @ Steve finally being the one to get a message. That would rock!

    :-D

  • o(^-^)o

  • :-)

  • ts not really deleted, its on YouTube forever!

  • Hey, once something is on YouTube for just 5 minutes, we might as well consider it on the Internet forever.

  • America and it's people are not the problem. I have never met an American I didn't like. The problem lies with the politicians who decide ultimately on what the western powers should do. Don't get me wrong, the politicians in this country are just as disingenious as they number crunch. The good thing is, people are beginning to see through it all at last. Scotland could be an Independant country within a couple of years due to Westminster's mistakes. I'd be very happy with that.

  • I wonder if those in power see all this access to information as an asset or as their undoing...

I'm all for exposing those in office who don't do as they say or who do what they say they didn't do (good grief, I won't even try to read that to see if it makes sense... I'm just hoping it does!)

  • the look on your face at the when you hear your message was priceless LOL!!

  • Captainfury2007 is the Sri Chinmoy Ghose of YouTube!

  • Because America is 76.5% Christianity and think that they are number one and they're right and everyone else is wrong. :P

  • Another video response came in the other day from BaubleRob that you might appreciate. He's in the UK so he offers a cool perspective, and he touches on this in a way.

  • That's interesting how religion is frowned upon over there in politics. Thanx for sending me.

  • You have some very pretty eyes, (except for when you bug them out like that in the staring

contest, of course.) Hope you're having a good summer and that the kitties are fine.

  • Well, Lisa challenged me to the stare and I have a soft spot for her. So I couldn't keep turning that down. But, yeah, the look doesn't work FOR me, that's for sure.

And, yep, summer is good so far. The cats are getting way too much attention and loving it.

Hope your summer is going great too, PB!

    :-)

  • Rejoined Myspace? I think I update semi-annually, now.

  • To some, that might still be seen as too much effort, Allen.

    ;-)

  • We used to be one of 2 Superpowers. When the USSR was dismantled - we were the only one left. Maybe the one good thing to come out of Bush's asinine foreign policy is to show the world that we are no longer a super power either - and with that in mind - at least down the road when wounds heal - we can join the fellowship of nations and not act like the bully in the school yard. Being number one isn't what it's always cut out to be.

  • At least he never threw up on anyone like his father did. That's about the nicest thing I can say about the man at this point.

    :-|

Danny, I think you've hit on something important. It would be a heck of a lot better for us to just be PART of that fellowship than anything else (IMO).

  • The reason that we think that we are better is because we are. We keep the peace worldwide. We brought peace to a part of Europe. Now we are spending a lot of money trying to educate the uneducated. That is my opinion anyway.

  • Hey there - thanks for sharing your honest opinion. Although I don't agree fully, I do agree that a lot of the charitable efforts being made emanate from this part of the map.

    :-)

  • I think I have a myspace account but cannot remember the password. It's been ages since I last logged in! To be honest, it doesn't appeal much to me. In fact, I'm now getting tired of facebook too and thinking of closing that account. YouTube is where it's at!!

  • I was intrigued a little with Facebook at first but then lost interest quickly. I have to agree with you - the audio/visual aspect of YouTube without as many spam-like bells 'n' whistles makes this a more interesting place (IMO).

  • What did the guy say on the phone?

  • "Porn Boob Ass"

I've heard it said that these three words, when chanted slowly and quietly, can rally the YouTube gods.

  • lol. captainfury is hilarious.

  • He is the Albert Schweitzer of YouTube.

  • It's cool, baby!!! AND...I totally agree with you. 'nuf said

  • (((Mic)))

  • O.O i wanna be rufus' friend on myspace! ohhh and Curt's lol

  • I just surfed over and clicked on 'accept'

    Thanks!!

    :-D

  • Hi Curt!

You do *not* look like crap! I like your rugged look. Quite handsome! Hugs to you! :0)

  • (((JG2)))

Hey there, how've you been lately?

We miss seeing you on camera, btw.

    :-)

  • Not be Number One?!?!?! That's heresy, I tell you, the devil's words!

  • The devil called me and gave his approval for this video, so it's okay.

  • Being happy, healthy and productive 4 me is #1. Prob why Im not rich, lol. And no by no means is any country # one, If you ever get bored one day read Japanese news. You'll quickly realize how far and odd the world really is. Just one example. Nice stare btw.

  • Thanks - I try NOT to perform that stare while in class, but it's tough sometimes.

I've never read Japanese news before. I guess I always assumed there wouldn't be an English translation (showing my ignorance??).

Just out of curiosity, do you watch Gimmeabreakman?

  • lol, yeah sounds like me in high school.Only I would stare blankly at teacher, but thinking what I was going to do that weekend.. And no it doesnt show ignorance. I myself just found out about it, if youre interested in reading it let me know I'll send you the link. I use to watch gimmieabreakman all the time, but since I havent been YTing as much I must admit I've slacked on his channel a bit. But he does bring up killer topics :)

  • You're making too much sense. Stop it.:)

  • I hear they arrest people for such madness!!

  • Great Vlog!!! Now that's what I call a stare!!! LOL Steve!!!! Thanks, Grams

  • Steve is my Daily Inspirational Caller.

I can't shower and start my day until I've heard from him.

  • I've never been interesting enough to tag. ;))

    Lucky me!! ;)

  • Hmmm, shall we change that trend for you?

    :-D

  • :-)

  • *waves to Kai*

Loved your comment on the other video, btw!

  • Great vlog, Curt! I was curious to see what you had to say.

    -- Matt

  • Thanks, Matt - not a very exciting answer, I'm afraid.

I'll never be a politician. I just don't have enough hot air (though I'm sure some would disagree).

  • LMAO hahahahahahahaha the end killed me. Great Video

  • The good captain is filled with much wisdom.

    And beer.

  • I knew I was missing something Let me go grab a beer BRB LOL

  • You goddam commie!

  • Don't go raining on my Marxist parade, Mr. Angry!

  • You could never look like crap. But pleaaaseeeeeeeeee pleaseeeeeeeeeeee dont go emo anymore :)

  • I couldn't.

    I'm Agnostic!

  • Cool vlog and music, I have to raid Incompetech again!:)

  • LOL, thanks! I'm do for another pillaging myself.

  • Talking of imposing on other people I have some footage I haven't used yet of a poster requesting the public to give Bibles to India! Presumably someone has the bright idea that India is gagging to go Christian. But then as Britain is now nearly a Muslim country I suppose it is a fair swap!

  • Does this person know they supplied you with a collab clip?

    :-D

  • We have discussed this many times in the past. We can't figure out why our government insists on trying to make the world like us. Even at work we have had to take classes in diversity. How diverse would the world be if we were all the same? Ok, that was a sort of an oxymoronic question, but you know what we mean. Maybe we should make our government officials take the class too.

  • I agree! Can you imagine if it became a legal requirement for every citizen?

They'd probably still find a way to keep their own children out of those classrooms, though.

    D'oh!

  • Love this Vlog :-)

I hate tags...LOL but your stare was good!

  • Thanks - I can stare really good, especially when I'm supposed to be concentrating.

    ...what was the question?...

I like being tagged but am bummed when it's for something I have no inspiration for, if that makes sense. I felt like I let those folks down, so at the very least a shoutout/thankyou was in order.

I wonder what the next wave of response videos will be...

  • I hope they are more mickmusing singing in the shower ;-) video's LOL

  • LOL - RIGHT ON!!

  • Germany ROCKS!!

  • ...not so much for almost 10$/gallon for gas

  • True that!!

  • I still say it sucks how much we have to pay for gas here, but other parts of the world still have it worse off.

    Bicycles, anyone??

  • Chuckling away over here.. There's just something I meant to ask you, re. the US vs The Rest of the WORLD.. How long did it take you to drive across from one coast to another of the US, at the time when you did so?? When I took a train from the west coast of Denmark to the east coast the other week, it took exactly 3 hours.. and we stopped on the way to let people on and off.. Puts things into perspective, I guess.. sizeways anyways.. :)

  • This is a cool comment/Rob - very astute. What many people don't realoize who have never traveled to the States how immense it is - how many different cultures, topographies, climate zones and time sones! Flying from Los Angles to NY takes six hours. Compare this to flying from London to Moscow, which takes 4 hours. :)

  • How IS Moscow darling? When are you due back so I can prepare supper? x

  • America is a continent as well as a country.

So, to put it all into a better prospective I guess we should compare coast to coast in America with from the west coast of Iceland to the east coast of the country most to the east of Europe. ;)

(or we could start with from Iceland to the east coast of Finland (to cover Scandinavia)... right? ;))

  • Ja, jo.. det vet jag ju.. but we're talking about America and AMERICANS as a whole, not Texans, Californians or Misery.. I mean Missourians per example.. Scandinavia is not recognised as ONE country, and neither is Europe.. (not yet, anyway!!) whereas USA is.. so therefore it'll have to be USA vs Denmark, not vs Scandinavia or Europe.. if you see what I mean! Sedan kan vi ju diskutera teknikaliteter i all evighets evighet om du vill.. ;D ;D

  • I'm 7 hours late to this comment thread. Has the question been answered? LOL

Oh, as far as driving, that took me roughly 3 days. Approximately 2500 miles from Los Angeles to Florida. Texas took the longest to drive through (over 800 miles).

  • Curt.. Well, you have answered it now!! I could have looked the videos up, but wasn't sure if you still had them , or if they were posted on Curt344, so thought it quicker to just ask! I thought it could be an interesting comparison.. :) The new computer is up and running now, by the way.. Hooray! But I have not much time to sit on YT tonight.. :)

  • CONGRATS on the new computer!!

YT will still be here tomorrow (we hope).

    ;o)

  • Congrats Rob!

  • you dont look like crap... Bernie

  • Thanks, Bernie.

Hope your birthday was a blast!

  • I feel it's best to be obvious about my neediness.

  • lol i'm sick of the tag games too. i keep denying all of them. i suppose they are good for birining the commuinity together though.

  • Oh yeah, it's definitely good for that. And even though I had messaged a couple of these folks privately, I felt like they deserved some kind of 'thank you' for at least including me. If I had been able to come up with answers that were both interesting AND honest, I'd have gone for it.

  • awesome! :o)

  • Hey, cool - I was only shooting for 'tolerable!'

  • I really liked this vlog! I meant to respond to the other one, think I said I'd be back... life took a turn.. I know you understand. I had so much to say as well. Now that My Bday party is winding down, I'd like to watch all your video responses. Was an excellent topic. And once again, thanks for making my day! You know IFLY!!

  • Pipp, I hope you had a glorious birthday.

    You deserved it!

    :-D

    *Love you*

  • Good one. I agree with you. I'm glad you shared your thoughts on this. There wasn't any cursing, but whatever.

IMO, someone being "well-traveled" does not necessarily score points with me. Some of my favorite people have never left their home towns, and some of the biggest jerks I've met have boasted about all their worldly travels and they are still jerks. There are other qualities than "well-traveled" that have much higher character value. You know already this, though.

  • LOL - sorry for not cursing. If it's any consolation, I just yelled out the "F" word for the "F" of it, and now my cats are looking at me funny.

And good point about a person's character. You can educate until everyone is blue in the face but you can't cure a terminal case of ass hole.

  • why do I see you on a bicycle touring France?

    Hummmm.... must be that hat...

  • It might also be the French Fries I had for lunch the other day.

    *urp!*

  • Spot on Curt, I like listening to you opine and agree wholeheartedly with you on this....it shouldn't be about being number one, or the biggest and the baddest, afterall it isn't cowboys and indians anymore!

ciao bello Reynaldo with love and peace from San Francisco Baby!

  • Exactly, Rey. Sometimes I think that whose-its in office saw an opportunity to play out a childhood John Wayne fantasy rather than just lead a country.

  • Did you remove Tom from your F-List on Myspace? I gave you a time limit...I just didn't tell you what is was. could be in 5 days, could be 5 minutes.

    *insert evil laugh*

  • LMAO - Hey, I got your email and then tried to do it, but I can't find the 'remove loser' button.

    HELP!!

  • best tag response ever

  • LOL - a really freakin' LAZY one, that's for sure.

  • Sure...I make an Oh Curt video and I don't even get so much as a comment. Well, I am hurt. Guess it sucked so bad that it wasn't worth watching.

I'm going to eat a pint of ice cream and yell at my students. See what you've done. :(

  • You made a fridge cam video??

Hey, grab an extra pint of ice cream for me while you're in there, will ya?

    ;-)

  • My BEAUTIFUL Curt..........:)

  • Aw shucks!

    (((Natasha)))

  • Love your video, wow you are so cute,

If you lived in Atlanta I'd try and fix you up with my brother. LOL x 100

    Lauren:)

  • Thanks, Lauren!!

  • Rufus has his own myspace now? That dog is so lucky. :)

And, I agree with you about what you said about the way people impose the way they do things on other people. The world is a big place and diversity is what makes it interesting. I didn't know there was a stare challenge going on. I always seem to be the last to know about things. :P

  • I forgot to say so, but it was Hippiefied1 who tagged me for that (a month ago??). At least it was the easiest of all 4.

    :-)

    YAY for diversity!!

  • I must have missed that video....will go watch now!

  • It's 3 minutes you won't be able to get back, just so ya know.

  • "Happy, healthy, and productive", wow what a concept. I think you're on to something Curt!

  • Thanks - I think maybe I just don't belong in politics because of radical thinking like this.

    ;-)

  • *waves*

Always makes me do this o.O when people refer to Americans having culture. I guess I just don't see it...

  • We do have culture.

    It's called Nick @ Nite.

  • A.K.A. your DVD collection?

  • Naturally!

    :-D

  • (((pornboobsassshot)))

  • (((tweezershot)))

  • (((stillhurtsandleftamarkshot)))

  • (((bactine&aloeveragelshot)))

  • YOU my friend are one of my second favorite American, you know who my first is :P

  • (((Salime)))

I'm guessing it isn't his clone, but the genuine article, right? LOL

  • Ahhhh, you out stared me!

    Nuts!!! Best 2 of 3?

It looks like your eyes are slightly different colours. YOUR left one seems to be greener than your blue right one.

    Or is it just me????

  • Heehee - Nope, it's not just you. The colors on YT make it look a little different, but they're actually green and one has some hazel in it.

  • You effing Americans are weird.

    (To people that don't understand, this is a sweeping generalisation saying that if one has a different trait we all do. Chinese people are small and love cameras, Jewish people are cheap, Americans are fat, the British are stiff upper lipped {WTF does that even mean!}

    etc... etc...)

and it proves my point about that what we thought we knew about the worlds people aren't nessesarly truths.

Hmmmm, Green with some hazel - that's cool.

  • You look twenty years younger when you look like crap!

  • A fellow effing American giving you a high fiver!! Rufus just rules!! Hell yes - lighters in the air!

  • LOL - Thanks, Tony

  • JP: Wow, you look like a total fratboy - I don't know if that's good or bad. :D Choose wisely, hehe, great vid!

  • And this is as close to being like a frat boy that I ever get, too.

    :-)

    Thanks

  • i would friend you but i'm a cat person. dogs make me squirm.

  • LOL - it's okay. He's had his shots.

In fact, I even poured them for him.

  • This conversation came up a few time this weekend. You were with us there in spirit.

You could never look like crap! ;)

  • Oh man, you mean people there were discussing the anti-American stuff on the site?

    *Thanks, Jenn*

  • It came up a few times. When with YouTubers I found you spend a lot of the time actually talking about YouTube. I think because it's so hard to find others who "get" the YouTube thing. :)

  • That's for sure. At best, my other friends occasionally ask me what's new with the site and ask if I've uploaded anything since last they heard about it. Some can get into it and some don't seem to get the attraction.

It's similar to what I've experienced with fellow Knots Landing fans.

    :-D

Ps. Gary got featured on the front page!

  • I know I just saw! How ironic, I think we even talked about THAT video this weekend and now it's featured!!!

  • You are soooo right, sometimes every country thinks its the center of the universe and then they get mad when they realize they are not.

The greeks and the romans and later to a less degree the turks the english and the french.

Till this day because of their "glorious" past

they resent not being involved in anything important.

  • People (and nations) forget that just having a seat at the table will get you fed. Why fight over who sits at the head of it?

...or maybe I'm just too much of a pacifist...

  • Well said -

  • For once, I have nothing specific to say. Good video.

  • Thanks!

And I think you said it beautifully in your video response the other day.

  • OMG he said my name in a video *swoons* =P Its ok that u didnt do the tag, at least u acknowledged the tag. :) *still swooning* XD

  • If it's any consolation, I liked how YOU answered the tag. LOL

  • lol atleast you watched the video (and i know you watch almost all of mine and the such.) :) I just stole all the good answers =P

  • OMG your call answer sounds EXACTLY like ours, I find this shocking. That woman gets around.

Yes, yes Curt that is exactly how it should be, and when everybody starts asking this question the world will be a nicer place. :)

  • I read an article about her a while ago, but I forget her name now. I even forget the details of the article, though I have a fuzzy recollection of her being some kind of doctor...??

Yeah, I'm a lot of help.

  • Damn, I must have missed that one.

  • Oh, it was a festive one, lemme tell ya. LOL

  • You never look like crap Curt.

I just commented on your last video. I'm always behind.

    (((Hugs)))

    ~Mimi

  • Hey, Mimi - I just replied to you over there.

I'm often behind as well (but not today here in the comments, I guess).

    :-)

  • Curt, you could look like that everyday and never look like crap! :)

  • Thanks, Ruthe - maybe the lighting was my friend here, LOL

  • 1) I love your eyes. They look very cool in this video.

    2) Captain Fury leaves great messages.

    3) I just don't know what to say about us effing Americans. My USA-esteem is pretty low at the moment. But I do think being happy and healthy is a good plan. Live and let live. Peace :)

  • Thank you, JoAnn.

    8-)

I think I get where you're coming from with the esteem thing. If it's any consolation, I'm practically counting the days until the next inauguration too. It won't solve everything, obviously, but it will be a good place to start.

  • Okay, where do you want to go (next winter)? I need a vacation.

Always wanted to go to Egypt... see a pyramid... but I'm open... :)

  • :-D

Australia - I've been aching with curiosity about that place for over 10 years now.

  • OOooo... I know someone there. :D
