Quake was brilliant ^.^ Its sad they kinda went downhill afterwords in terms of atmosphere. Dont get me wrong, quake 2 was fun and the soundtrack was amazing but none of the sequels quite had the same horror action vibe the orriginal did. Nothing like hearing a feind growl at you and turning just in time to see it flying at your face.

@maintguy69 Wolfenstein 3D was 2d even though it was called 3d. Wolf was revolutionary but hardware for personal computers changed drastically during the Quake era. The two games cannot be compared. It is like comparing a VCR to a DVD player.

I didn't play Quake I at LAN parties, I was just a smidge too young when it came out, but I played Quake II and got my rocket jumping skills, which later served me as a TFC Soldier in all those rounds of well and 2morfort I played... Ah, good times.

@M4S2K0H I loved Doom as well. Doom was 2d sprite based and Quake was full 3D acceleration so the gameplay was much smoother in Quake.

I remember when TF2 was going to be more like Enemy Territory and then got delayed for a decade or whatever :P I didn't pick up TF2 until just before it went F2P so most people playing it were pro thus making it not so fun for a noob ;P I would prefer Team Fortress Classic on Quake or HL over TF2 :P

My son used to sit in my lap while I played Doom, and he would cry pitifully when I died with a bloody face. He of course grew up and ripped through the Halos and CODs like a rocket sled. I personally never got interested in any of the post-ID FPS though. Thanks for the memories.

You need to set up a hatchet melee. It would be something like: alias melee "impulse1; +attack; wait; wait; -attack; impulse3" bind mouse3 melee

You may need to insert some more waits. One may be needed between the weapon switch and attack, etc. Another fun one was the Double Barreled Shotgun Grenade Launcher combo!

This is so weird. I go from watching you play Minecraft; nice and calm and reserved and relaxing. To running around in Quake exploding people with a shotgun. Contrast. Unfortunately I was never big into the whole Quake scene. I played Doom for awhile and then my parents, who at the time weren't too find of my gaming, saw what Doom was and forbid me to play it (not that their words really stopped me). So for a few years I just didn't game as much until I got a N64 a few years after its release.
