  • Allez! Gasquet. Good luck in Cincinnati you can win it.

  • spot the difference: Nadal in 2011 and Gasquet 2011

  • Loooooove the look on Nadal's face !! :D

  • lol, love the look on nadals face... hes like wtf?

  • Too bad Gasquet fell off the planet since 2007.

  • @SSky06 He will be back and sooner than you think.

  • God damn!!! What an unbelievable shot!! I think Gasquet has the best backhand in tennis and a pretty good overall technique, but it's a pity he just can't seem to close his matches and constantly gets caught from behind (ex: Murray Wimbledon 2008, or Youznhy Australia 2010). That's too bad because I think he belongs in the top 10 as far as his quality is concerned..

  • gasquet has the best single-hand backhand in the world

    ALLEZ RICHARD

hope he will come in the top ten

  • I guess. When I wrote that comment I was thinking more like over the last year, during which most of the time it was dominant.

  • Well yeah, but it's not anymore. That's why I said "Nadal's forehand IS the single deadliest shot in the game." Not "Nadal's forehand is the single deadliest shot in history."

Fed's is still the best when he's hitting it well, unfortunately for us Fed fans, that's not all too often anymore.

  • nadal has the best reverse forehand and topspin forehand... but i would say federer has the best forehand in terms of overall balance of variety, power, and pace

  • That being said (Federer fan here) Nadal's forehand is the single deadliest shot in the game. It's top-spin produces a lot of errors from opponents and also allows him to avoid errors on his own and makes it a quality defensive shot. He creates great angles due to the top-spin as well. Down-the-line and inside out shots are easy for him because the ball dips down so sharply at the last moment.

Gasquet's backhand is the class of the world. It has so much top-spin but with a ton of pace too.

  • I think people who are separating the "best strokes" argument into top-spin FH, slice FH, flat FH are getting too ridiculous. What makes a shot great is that you have variety with it or that it is simply too damn good in one way.

  • 1:00

You made me look like an idiot.

  • ok let's be precise :-)

    flat FH : El Delpo

    covered FH : fedex

    over-top-spin FH : Rafa

    two-handed slice FH : Fabrice 'the magician ' Santoro \o/ ^___^

  • strokes

    Forehand - Delpo

    serve- karlovic

    backhand- nalbandian(?)

  • I would say best strokes at the moment.

    Nadal - topspin forehand

    Gonzo - Power forehand

    Karlo - Serve

    Can't think of a good b/hander

  • GASQUET!!!

  • gasquet's backhand should be his forehand

  • best strokes of the moment :

    fed's forehand

    karlo's serve

    guasquet's backhand ?

  • I prefer Wawrinkas backhand.

  • gasquet's ranking has dropped, at the moment the top 3 players have a better backhand.

  • ok then it was best stokes of the not-so-last moment ;-)

hope gasquet is back at his peak next year

  • the incredible thing with his BH is he can do the same motion (unique powerfull top spin) even with very high balls

  • LOL, after that last point, Nadal was like wtf?

  • "You can't do that."

    LMAO

  • "There's only one person nto smiling after that", slow motion video instantly shows Nadal smiling LOLZ.

  • the amount of strength in the wrist and arm from Gasquet is unbelievable!

  • i want this guy to get his head together and start winning some matches that actually matter. I want him to win a slam

  • hell yes! he is capable to win without a mental problems

  • he is awesome. but he gets to semi or quarter losts idk y. CMONNNN GASQUETTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!

  • me 2

  • haha Nadals face

  • what's the name of the commentator said 'spectacular' out of interest?

  • I can answer this one. The guy who said 'spectacular' is Robby Koenig, a South African commentator who always does the ATP Masters Series Events along with Jason Goodall and Doug Adler (the other guy who you can hear in this clip).

  • cheers, I never get to see the masters series cos I dont have sky :(

  • Nor do I. But what I do is go onto the atpmasterseriestv site and watch live streaming of the main two courts. I've got a one year subscription for $70 and it's good shit

  • who's the commentator that always goes, "oh, stop it"

    might be the same guy?

  • epic backhand

  • How about I hit a ball at 100 mph directed at your body and then you can show me that shot. :)

  • ...you try hitting that shot then babicz

  • too bad gasquet lost the next game

  • haha, genius instinct shot. one-handed backhand rocks, you couldn't hit that with two hands. you can see nadal appreciated that shot even if he was surprised

  • Lol, and to reiturate what my point from a few days ago, Gasquet just got knocked outta the Australian Open.. By Tsonga.. so I guess ol' Richards gonna have to wait til next time to begin his reign as the next up and coming Federer rofl, I mean seriously, Gasquet just isn't gonna be as good as Federer, espec. as long as "Federer" still plays.

  • Federer is scared of Nadal as he should be. He totally fagged out a couple years ago in the Fench. I love the look Nadal gives Gasquet in this clip("You lucky shit, you totally pulled that out of your ass")

  • Ok. I like Gasquet Alot, but honestly, to put a rest to anyone heres argument that Gasquet is "On pace" to match Federer, by the way some of you imply that Gasquet is "21 and better than Federer was when he was 21".. Honestly, tell me right now that Gasquet will go on and have a career half as good as Federer, go ahead.. tell me Gasquet will win half as many grandslams and overall titles as Federer, yeah, go ahead, cuz you all know damn well it's just not gonna happen.

  • well,if you have forgotten ,Gasquet is now in the top 10 (he is 8th in the world) and he is 21.....and like Federer back then,he is seen as a future prospect

At 21,Federer had won less titles than Gasquet and hadn't gone further than a GS 1/4 final(while Gasquet has already made a GS 1/2 final)

  • Federer won Wimbleon in 2003 when he was 21 years old and 10 months. Richard is now 21 and 6 months so he's got to win Australia or the French next year to keep up with Federer. Federer also won Hamburg MS in 2002 at the age of 20 against Safin but in all fairness, he wasn't playing against himself so Gasquet was at an unfair disadvantage.

  • yeah.

Gasquet made 2 MS finals but in both of them,he had to face Federer

  • well,if you have forgotten ,Gasquet is now in the top 10 (he is 8th in the world) and he is 21.....and like Federer back then,he is seen as a future prospect

At 21,Federer had won less titles than Gasquet and hadn't gone further than a GS 1/4 final(while Gasquet has already made a GS 1/2 final)

  • no doubt gasquet has plenty of talent, and as a pure shotmaker, he certainly rivals federer. shot for shot, gasquet can hold his own against federer off the ground. but federer's edge is on serve, also his ability to change tempo, and most important, federer has a clear edge in movement over gasquet. all things considered equal, while i'd say gasquet is just as good a striker of the ball, in some respects better than federer, but he doesn't match up in a few key areas.

  • all you say is very true but don't forget one thing: Gasquet is still only 21!

At 21 ,Federer was nowhere near as good in term of movement and in term of ability to change tempo as he is now.

Gasquet is still far from being mature ,especially physically(he still seems like a little boy sometimes)

  • Also ,i noted that Gasquet's serve has widely improved in the last few months.

Now he can regularly serve aces over 130 mph

  • ive have never in my life seen a backhand overhead winner from like 10 feet behind the baseline

  • I don't think Gasquet will be the new Federer(what Federer has achieved in the last few seasons is really exceptionnal, especially in term of dominance of the tour)......but one thing i'm almost sure is that he'll win Wimbledon in the future.

  • This shot is FREAKING AMAZING!!!!!

  • It seems like everyone sees how talented Gasquet is except Gasquet!!! Gasquet is like the new Safin. He can own the best players for a set and then do nothing for the rest of the match. Well, the Fed didn't really show what he could do till he was 22-23 so hopefully Gasquet will do the same in the next few years.

  • well he's beaten Federer,Roddick from 2 sets down at Wimbledon,Blake(2),Djokovic so that tells you how great he is.

Gasquet has made the semis of a grand slam, while Blake has NEVER even made it that far.

Gasquet if healthy will have a great future

  • there's a reason why Federer the most talented player out of the "young guns" and said Gasquet's backhand is the best in the game and far far better than his own. That says a lot coming from the best player tennis has ever produced!

  • looks like a backhand-copy of federers forehand passing shot against roddick...

  • soo nice =) Richard FTW!!!

  • Absolutely amazing!!!

  • I'm pretty sure Richard Gasquet is the only person in the world who could have pulled that shot off! Unbelievable!

  • beautiful gasquet... u should've won this match!

  • Thank You Soooooo Much..My favorite Tarzan is back in action now !!!!!!!!!
