Great match! I remember Orton Sr. in 1972 with Eddie Graham's Florida promotion, feuding with Eddie & Mike Graham and teaming with Bobby Shane & Buddy Colt against the Brisco brothers and other teams. The Big O's sons, Bob Jr. & Barry (aka "Barry O") were both pretty good, and his grandson Randy has a good style despite the often ridiculous stuff WWE gives him to work with. Have you posted any more matches of Bob Sr.?
My very 1st pro match was with Bob Orton in Waterloo, Iowa in 1972. He was a great worker and he healped me through the match. I last saw Bob in Las Vegas a few months before he passed away and he still had great stories to tell. He was one of the great ones who had a long, successful career.
My pleasure. I wa sincolved in the business beginning in 1961 as a photographer and writer when I was 14. I wrestled from 1973 through 1986 under a few different names. I am still a hardcore fans and historian and will never get tired of watching these great videos. I like a lot of the new workers too, like ROH & PWG. Brian Danielson is a hybrid wrestler who reminds me so much of Dory Funk Jr that it's scary. He has complete control every time he is in the ring. Too bad wwe got him.
Agreed. If used right, Bryan has the potential to be a cornerstone of that company. He reminds me more of Jack Brisco and Bret Hart with a mix of Bret's brother Owen. He deserves to succeed because I met him in Chicago one time and he was a humble nice guy. Speaking of the Ortons, have you watched any of Randy's work? If so what do you think of it?
@RSXemperor I watched some of Randy Orton's work and I think that he is the top worker in wwe right now. I generally don't watch wwe anymore, but if I do it's always for an Orton match. He's a great worker who can work the crowd very well. He's got a great look too.
Orton is a joke. Your a Worker huh? The guy is boring in the ring, most of his matches are just headlocks and other holds. To say that hes the Top Worker in WWE right now is just retarded. Jericho would be the best Worker in WWE. Hes a good In-Ring performer, great Mic-worker and just overall a far better Worker then Randy" Headlock " Orton is.
No one here knows something about Pro-wrestling and about the Business.
I worked for 7 years and my best friend is the hottest Indy-worker in the world, wrestlet in Japan, ROH, JAPW, and worked for WWE before asking for his release, so I know a thing or two.
My bf was in WWE, a friend who I trained with for Wrestling but in the last 3 years he made the transition is in MMA and goes to Japan a few times a year, but Im not bringing them into this.
@Takerfanatic93 OK, you may know a thing, but definitely not two. Nobody would believe such an outrtageous statement. Are you afraid to name your best friend? You are because it's all bullshit.
I won't be giving you any more responses. I'm too busy fighting off women as I walk down Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, where I am often mistaken for Brad Pitt, even at 61., whereas you may be mistaken for a peach pit.
Listen up monkey boy, I'm in the know, I was fortunate enough to work with some names and took the opportunity to learn from them, problem is we don't have the territories really anymore, you have cookie cutter developmental systems that produce crap (Cena, Batista, most of the guys coming out now...my friend was so miserable there he left the fed, thats saying something for how bad its gotten!) and are taught by guys who suck (Hugh Morris, 'Sarge').
He was actually signed for over a year, I've never seen him more miserable, he has an open door back but he's much happier in DDT and ROH, and he's allowed to have good matches. And his work was good enough for Flair to pull him aside after an ROH match and compliment him.
Kenny Omega is a ma friend, i will say Omega is my fav guy to work with, thats how you know a good worker, have 5 star matches and its fun and easy and call on the fly, if you can't call on the fly you're shit and need to do it.
tell you what Worker, send me a link and I'll get you booked in Canada, promise, I have a lot of pull with some promotions (worked for them and on good terms with the promoters).
I always called matches as we went. This planning the whole thing out before hand is crap. Kenny Omega is a great worker. Sure, get me booked in Canada. I bet there's a real stampede to go see ex-wrestlers over 60 workAnd all of this flowing bullshit from Kenny's pal in because I had the audicity to like Randy Orton. Everyone knows that the only REAL TOP TALENT in pro wrtestling history was FRANK "SPACEMAN" HICKEY. He was goofy, just like you, only likeable goofy. .
Yeah, Kenny is great, although the comedy spots are too much sometimes. And who are you now? You still havent told me. Tom Hankins? Trained by Harley Race? And yeah i know Hickey, but what does he have to do with that here now.
1. Theres a Red Bastien, heard some storys of him from Ox. Never heard of a Fred Bastien. 2. I think i know who you are now, so please dont give me some funny answers. 3. Ive heard some weird shit today. You know ive checked some things and it said that a guy called Bill Goldberg will get inducted in HoF 2011. What a joke! That guy could not work!
Listen up, you dont need to talk shit here, i know who you are. Your finisher was the flying neckbreaker and i also know that you had a feud with Brisco. Crazy Charlie Reid..
Don Callis, who if you knew anything is good friends with Jericho and the two go way back to the IWA days and the infamous 'hell tours' with Tony Condello (these tours made scott norton, rhino, edge, christain, everyone just break, I have some funny stories)
Send me your pack and I'll egt you booked, promise, but i bet your a liar anyway.
Who are you anyway? Who trained you? When did you start with Pro-wrestling? Ive seen your profile? Theres a link and error when i copy and paste it. Crazy Charlie Reid??
@Takerfanatic93 If your best friend is Davey Richards, then I'll apologize. Next you'll be telling me that Necro Butcher is better than Richards! I'll be seeing Davey Friday and I'll ask him who you are and how great you really are. His answer will be "who?"
My trainer is Don Callis, who is a good friend of Chris Jericho, and Don isnt the greatest guy...
most workers are dirty people and take to the ring rats and make them do terrible things just for kicks, I've heard some stories that made me lose all respect for some legends.
Callis was only in wwf and ecw and a lot of indies, only travelled the world as IWA champ and produced some international TV.
Later Don transitioned from being a worker to being on the writing staff (at the time like 3 guys, before they started hiring TV writers and it started sucking) then we burnt out (cause with vince and the writing staff its like a 24-7 job) and then went to ECW as cyrus (during that time is when he started training) and because I got trained by a name I got to meet and work with other names he knew (rhino, kurragan, road warriors, etc...), I lucked out in that sense.
I broke my collar in 4 places wrestling, wreslted with a broken wrist, twisted ankles, teeth busted through my lip, so dont call me anything. You insulting me.
And I could care less if you believe me or not, I got trained by a former WWF guy and head writer and actually pursued it and worked in a ring with some big names before getting out and focusing on school, I didn't sit on the sidelines.
If you'd like I'll send you a dictionary, as you really seem to seriously need one.
I know full well who Don Callas is. I'd be shocked to hear him admit that he even knows who you are, wannabe. Oops..I'm afraid I've upset you again. Well, it doesn't take much to upset a pea-brained, noodle-armed moron like you.
@Takerfanatic93 Oh my. You sound like a careless, wreckless wrestler, getting busted up so much. No wonder you went back to school. But you were trained by a writer...that's just wonderful. It must have been Vince Russo.
The only mark in here is you so called Worker. Everyone with a brain knows that Jericho is a far better In-Ring performer and Mic-worker than Orton. Get a clue, looser.
@DerFlaechenbomber Do you like to shoot? I can stretch you right now and give you grammer & spelling lessons at the same time. You can hide behind your computer school boy, so don't fear.
And remember everyone, if you like Randy Orton, according to this multi-named moron, you have no brain. He's giddy over Jerico. I like Jerico too, but I'm not slobbering all over him. The mere fact that you chose to argue with me over this pointless issue, shows that your are indeed a mark of the lowest rung.
what's wrong with the end. it's wrestling its not ballet. its supposed to be rough. you're in there trying to move your opponent into a disadvantageous position and o'connor pulled it off
amazing!..Papa Gramps..is just as ruthless as his son Orton Jr. & grandson Randy!..All GREAT Wrestlers! x0]
