@19Bill94 they say there will always be a risk, but in a future update for this, they say it should help to where it is live friendly. so for the current time, use at your own risk

At 3:18 after connecting the Xkey to the motherboard you say, "if you don't have a dvd drive you can leave it like that." Is this true? Can I just leave my DVD out of the xbox completely once this is installed?

Also there are comments saying there is a new way of connecting the device...anyone know about this?

This video is no longer any good as the method of connection of the LCD screen has changed, specifically, the cable is different and it connects to some different USB dongle now...wish someone would release a new vid.

@adnausium Hey Man you just run the flat cable out of the case then put the usb dongle int your back usb port and run the flat cable in the top of it. thats all it is now just plug the screen into the dongle and the HDD into the the screen :) Hope this helped

my x360key is installed. when playing games from an external HDD the games work for a like 5-10 minutes and then the xbox 360 restarts itself. I have made sure all the wires are full connected. (games include MW3, Golden EYE) - new games and old 1s.

i saw on a forum someone saying its like 1 in 500 chance that the x360key can fail and that this has happened to at least 1 other person.

the xbox 360 is from 2006 and got red ring of death in 2008 so microsoft fixed it.

Something i havent seen done yet, that i would like, is knowing what type of Usb hub is made for xkey, you would think that running custom linux firmware would allow the xkey to detect HDD's no matter what hub they are connected to, but this doesnt seem to be the case, so if you could please post a video explanation about how to hook multiple HDD's up to the xkey. That'd be great.

hi i did evreything in the videos but my tray wont open wen i turn the console on with the power button.wen i push the tray button to power on i can open the tray and close it

butt the ke stays in pass thru what did i do wrong? i only disconectet the drive and the key to

flash the drive saving the firmrware again as in the video#2

ok so I am having a little trouble with this step in the install. all i can get xkey to load up in is pass thru mode (no matter how I turn it on) the dvd drive wont open when I press the button (not sure if this is connected) I have a stock standard dvd drive so I have just dumped the files straight onto the dvd drive and tried to boot.

. the drive firmware is named BENQ-OFW.BIN do I need to adjust this? really appreciate any help anyone can give me troubleshooting this problem.

I know since i have a JTAG, this device wouldn't do me any good....but out of curiosity, how would you use the by-pass mode since booting a JTAG with eject puts it in Xell??

@DvdXploitr you make no sense even if you had a jtag what would be the point in going into bypass mode? bypass mode just makes it read as a normal drive so you can go online and with a jtag you can't go online reguardless so it doesn't matter

For those getting the "NO FW" message, use the customFW.bin and rename to firmware.bin instead of Dummy.bin. Worked for me :)

@Wokings This is the problem. You cannot just rename your firmware file to firmware.bin. Check out the previous video, micro sd card setup!

I decided to try to format to FAT16 (as that is what my mac showed it as being) and copying on the recent updated xkey files (from your mediafire link) and my firmware.bin.

At this point my x360 key refuses to do anything other than display the logo. I'm not sure what to do from this point as there's extremely limited information/anecdotes regarding installation out there.

@quidenousdeux I dont work for x360key but you should have formatted it to NTFS so it can hold files over 4gb in size.

I'm having some issues getting the x360 key to work,

When i first installed it i noticed I was having a difficult time getting my PC to see the micro sd card though either the internal adapter or an SD-USB adapter. My mac would intermittently read it so i was at least able to copy my firmware.bin file to the root. Upon booting my console It first displayed the 'No FW' screen.

@Crazywhitie You mean if you can RIP a game from the XBOX to the External HDD ? That would be beastly. I reckon that update won't be too far off, and impossible. Unless it has already been announced. Anyways atleast with your original copies you can play the game. :) I will wait a while for a proper cover and the price to drop a few.
