  • I THINK THE BLOKE WITH THE BEARD TAKING PICTURES IS FROM ONE OF THE MUSIC PAPERS OF THE TIME NME OR SOUNDS, CANT REMEMBER HIS NAME

  • I THINK THE BLOKE WITH THE BEARD TAKING PICTURES IS FROM ONE OF THE MUSIC PAPERS OF THE TIME NME OR SOUNDS, CANT REMEMBER HIS NAME

  • Fairplay to the bloke with the beard taking photos - there was always all sorts of people at punk gigs in the 70s - that's what was good about them.

  • The Adverts are always a good barometer of what 77 was really like as a lot of the other stuff is buried under mounds of myth & bollocks & Jonathan Ross type perception of what original punk was like.

  • Loud and raucous even by 21st century standards?

  • thanks ... there care some sync issues

  • Gaye Advert dresses up a lot like Joan Jett did when she was in the Runaways (another great band).

  • Actually, looks like it was the best time to be 21 !!

  • pogoing > doing laps around the gig

  • I still design my own clothes ;)

oh, I love pogo as it was danced in the late 70ies.... what a pity that the good old up & down died out; I always try to bring it back at punkrock gigs, but most of the times no one joins :)

  • kicking play this at the end of my days

  • i love gaye advert more than debbie harry...

  • Lovely tunes. Lovely band. Lovely bass player.

  • THE most underated band of that great short period in the late 70's when we felt we were taking over the world! Amen to all those old homemade clothes. My Mum took my Oxford bags in on her sewing machine to make my drainpipe trousers! I made a Adverts t shirt with stencils and non -drip Dulux, that was still wet when I saw these with the Damned. Covered everyone with paint and almost died from the fumes!!

  • You gotta check out TV's recent music. It's far beyond awesome!

  • remember making me own clothes and a trip to the army navy stores. that just left a trip to see mclaren and west wood when i come to London to see the clash and the wardrobe was complete. ah.. great days not two people dressed alike. not like today's clones in nylon track suits and white trainers . look regimented like an army of loyal servants to the big conglomerates and commercialization. what happened to free thought and individualism. nothing worse than a 30 something in a white track suit

  • you`re right, mate.i picked up my clothes at the local fleamarket for a few quid & made them up

with sawed on zippers & sprayed on paroles.

that was the great thing w/punk in the `70`s -

nobody gave a rat`s arse about brands & labels.

  • I still care as much about brand names as a did in the 70's an a wasnt born till the 90's,

  • @taqn

In fact... the fact that Punk was the last big cultural revolution to strike (and over 30 years ago!) is truly frightening. No wonder ZOMBIE films are so popular... That's what we've all become!

  • this is my favorite adverts vid!

  • Rentaghost vocals, stuff it guitars, loose drums and a great sexy bass player...love the Addies

  • Who is the guy taking shots? Anyone know?

  • yeah, that's Alvis Costello

  • verdaderos clasicos del punk

  • Fantastic! So simple, musically, but so powerful and inspirational!

  • The word "vortex" was so mysterious+delightful 4 us in 77-80's...!

  • Just amazing.. How I wish I had been there!

  • im looking 4 all the song obn live at the vortex so hard to find

  • Thanks so much for this - one of my favourite bands from the early punk era

  • On the roof - good.Like garagerocknroll. It's in all time

  • no time to be 21 yes yes yes still got the 45with pic cover wot a track takes me back to the football days

  • its not john peel and its definately vortex

  • Great Band even if there not that good at playing.

  • Is that John Peel at 2.14?

  • a world of NO!!!!

    dont even look like him!!!

  • He had more hair even then. I loved those pre mohawk, pet rat, cider drinking days when it was all new and soooooo rebelious. It didn't last long.

  • And real shirts with collars and even a couple of ties! Why can't today's youngsters take a lead from these correctly-attired folk? Truly 'twas an age of elegance, before drab uniformity set in. Great stuff.

  • Probably the most amateur band I`ve ever heard ,still good though 5*

  • Pogo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • tak tohle žeru!!!

  • this aint the roxy! all those vids on youtube saying "live at roxy" are fakes! this is the fucking vortex. does there even exists live footage from the original 100 days of the roxy club??

  • Suss on you Lawrence!!

  • this is not the roxy mate, its the vortex in wardour street if you look behind the drummer you can see the vortex logo

  • Great stuff, but defiantly not the Roxy..Its the Vortex..But looks like its cut with other stuff!!!

  • TV Smith - leg end!

    Nuff said

  • Great great footage of one of the most underated UK bands . I'm still in love with Gaye Advert all these years later : 0 )

  • Cool stuff, thanks for posting! The bearded balding guy taking snapshots at the front of the stage is a dead ringer for Robert Quine!

  • Great footage.

CROSSING DA RED SEA is a great album.

Gaye is looking as gorgeous as ever.

  • One of the greatest albums of all time...I can say that about hundreds of bands...this is fucking great.

  • that applies to all the adverts records!

  • great footage

  • my favorite song "on the roof" classic
