Alice In Chains are more influenced by Metal-ish

Nirvana are kinda like Punk-ish and Rock-ish

Pearl Jam have kinda a 70's rock feel to them

Soundgarden was a huge powerhouse in "grunge" but there were mostly 87-90's, bands like Pearl jam (Ament, Stone) were made up of members from bands like Green River, Mother Love Bone (Huge influences in "grunge").

I discovered this band only an hour ago, maybe its my generation being born in 84 but I immediately thought of Nirvana when I saw these Mudhoney vids. Don't get me wrong they are hardly similar but its the videos they just remind me of nirvana.
