  • These look amazing. Thanks for the memories I love the care you took in putting these together. Very nice work!

  • Well, as I Can see, Paramount didn't have the B&W Era.

  • 3:16 Notice, that CBS Paramount Tune is the same as in 1:09

    Just hear... and notice.

  • 1:28 ALWAYS loved this one for the long trail off...

  • 1:08 Is Christmas Paramount Happy Holidays

  • 1:24 Lloyd norain the end of the movie 1977

  • Is Christmas Paramount Happy Holidays 1:05

  • Desilu= best!!!!

  • @logicalsmach very of paramount

  • Very cool montage! Thanks for sharing.

  • paramount With Rugrats Theme 1:47

  • paramount With Rugrats Theme 1:47

  • THE END MGM 1944 0:52

  • 2:06 the end theme frosty of the snowman

  • paramount with spongebob squarepants theme 1:38

  • 1:29 lalo

  • Thank you so much for posting these! I wish that when releases from this company are put out on dvd that the execs would leave the original credits on them instead of putting the CBS logo all over the place. I remember the old shows with these credits and they lend to the nostalgia and old feeling of viewing the program.

  • Does Viacom still own Paramount? Does Viacom also own CBS?

  • The logo used in the 1970s (identified with The Brady Bunch and all those Garry Marshall shows) was one of the greatest, but I really liked the logo they adopted in 1987. It was a perfect way to end the closing credits of Start Trek: TNG and reruns of Hawaii Five-O reruns.

  • @Duruwen Same here, I had recurring nightmares of that when I was little

  • The last one would make a great wav file for logins to Windows OSes.

  • CBS did not just buy out Paramount Television, but they also bought Kingworld as well.

  • this is good can you do this history Of Desilu and Paramount Televison 45 years

because you missing one the paramount televison 1968 yellow spilt rectangle and the paramount televison 1969 high picth.

  • Is it OK if I borrow this? I just want the audio part. I may use for a logo ident I may make up.

  • 0:21 is a remade logo

  • Were there black-and-white versions of the "Split Rectangle II" (1970 Lalo Schifrin music) and the "Blue Mountain" (1979 Lalo Schifrin music) used at the end of "The Lucy Show" (black-and-white episodes) and "The Untouchables" (1959 TV series) in 1970s-'80s syndication?

  • PARAMOUNT IS WITH VIACOM DESTROY THEM!

  • I remember as far back as the one at 0:32, but the one from 1:00 - 2:25 brings back major childhood memories.

  • I think I'm in lalaland by now oh wait

The CBS/paramount one is soooooo soothing. I guess the past isn't what it's cracked to be isn't?

  • I'd watch Hub network for some of these logos. It is airing Family Ties, Happy Days, and Laverne and Shirley. Complete with the "we'll be right back" bumpers, it's definately trying to be what Nick at Nite/Nickelodeon was in the '80s/early '90s.

  • DUDE THAT WAS ANNOYING

  • fucking desilu, if that didn't get annoying in the past i dont know what did!

  • The ones from :52 to 2:26 used to scare the heck out of me as a kid, especially with the music and the sliding "television".

  • @Moreau68 lmao...when i was a kid these gave me nightmares...especially the closet killer at 0:29...some of these sound like a car trying to start come to think of it...lmao...im glad that iwasnt the only one that was scared of these...

  • @Moreau68 I"m with you! Used to scare me too!

  • i thought viacom still owned Paramount...

  • @Macintosh3745 Yep the new "Viacom" owns it after the Viacom/CBS Split, Paramount assets got divided and Paramount Pictures went to Viacom (new one), while it other assets (Paramout Television & Distribution, Paramount Parks, etc) went to CBS Coporation.

  • 0:31: Scary!

  • @jands8186 It's a long corporate story. After Gulf+Western renamed itself as Paramount Communications (after selling its other assets) and sold it self to Viacom (old one), then the company renamed itself CBS Corporation and the Viacom (present one today) was created. Ergo CBS-Viacom Split. That's why most of CBS former companies have the "Paramount" (loan from Viacom) and they have links. In additon, Viacom & CBS Corporation are both owned by National Amusements, a theatre chain company.

  • it seems to me that through the years paramount studios has been passed around like a ho for sloppy seconds in a 50 cent backstage party... sad

  • I love the original Desilu theme and the 2nd most recent CBS theme

  • I think Paramount should Be Renamed Desilu Paramount Pictures

  • very good and informative, i had no idea that paramount had ties to CBS~

  • 79'

  • Whats the purpose in this?

  • kate

  • Hoe komt je er daar aan van Desilu Productions? Nu is er Paramount Television

  • bring back paramount television (which would be owned by the new viacom only)

  • What I always found puzzling is why they switched the Blue Mountain jingle to Goldsmith's in 1976, only to go back to the Schifrin one just two years later. Did something go sour between Jerry Goldsmith and Paramount?

  • Nice logo video!!!!!!

  • AAP POPEYE?

  • The music for the logo at 3:25 was composed by Lalo Schifrin.

  • Which one is from 0:11 to 0:14? That's one I've never seen or heard.

  • @DogPatch1149 It's from Mission Impossible

  • Anyone else scream "Thank God!" at 2:26, the redundancy being broken :)?

  • Comment removed

  • the one at 2:19 is kinda scary. That and it's kind of creepy how the Television bit slides right in under the Paramount.

  • love the video johnny.

  • Nice one johnny

  • Impressive,dude,very impressive!

  • what the heck is gulf +western

  • Gulf & Western was a multi-faceted conglomerate, mostly in real estate. Since Hollywood back lots = major real estate, they got into films & TV through the back door.

While I'm at it, you forgot to include the 1st Desilu logo (black script animation, w/ & w/out VO) at the end credit for "I Love Lucy"; that would have made the history complete.

  • The blue mountain logo always scared the living daylights out of me as a child, I'd have nightmares of it

  • i used to close my eyes and cover my ears if i knew of a show that had that bumper and it would scare me half to death if i wasnt prepared. I notice now that intros and bumpers are nothing like the ones in the 70s and 80s shows how things can affect some people subconsciously.

  • I did the same thing. Would jump in my bed and pull the covers over me.

  • @fieldsfan336 Seriously, dude?

  • About a year before UPN and The WB merged, I read where UPN was going to change its name to The Paramount Network. It would have been interesting to have see what their logo ID would have been.

  • At 1:22, I saw that in the end of Make Me Laugh.

  • I love it!

  • desilu theme seems like a friendly thing.

  • damm....im only 26---but this took me back to being home from elementary school and watchin all the old shows thats still came on tv in the late 80's

  • Amen to that.

  • One of the logos are okay. The most logo that I like Desilu.

  • Comment removed

  • Desilu forever!

  • I like the Desilu version the best at the beginning. I don't really like the second one that much. It sucks that viacom had to take over in the 70s.

  • Actually first in 1967 Paramount took over Desilu

And it was then in 1994, I think, Viacom took over Paramount

  • i was in love with that closet killer music - and i was only FIVE - and when it changed in 1970, i was puzzled and crushed, and waited like an abandoned child for them to come to their senses and change it back. even then i couldn't understand why something so complex and interesting could be replaced with something so mediocre and dull for years and years and years and...

  • I remember crying when I was a little kid when that Paramount logo (the one that played over and over again in slight variations starting at 1:30 ) came on after Cheers lol

  • From somewhere around summer to the middle of August in 2008 I saw either the logo from 0:51 or 1:00-1:08 on happy days. Old logos are not as rare as you think they are

  • Bum dum dum dum dum dum dut duh-duh!

    Star Wars, duh-duh-duh-duh!

  • Comment removed

  • It sounded to me more like "closet killer starts to attack, then looks in puzzlement when he sees no one's there"

  • Whats the Point? The'yve used almost the same logo for years! this could have been done a lot differently!

  • Comment removed

  • If you type fmt=18 and try it again you will hear some of the logos come out in stereo with improved picture quality!

  • The Paramount mountain with the gold "Paramount Communications..." byline was used for the 1st and part of the 2nd season of "wings" (as seen on the DVDs), and the next version was on the 3rd season DVDs. The second CBS-Paramount logo was featured on the fourth and fifth season (with a clever mistake involving the old jingle and this logo on a few 4th season eps). The current CBS-Paramount logo is on the 6th & 7th seasons (6th with jingle, 7th season is silent).

  • FUUCK YOU VIACOM!!!

  • CLOSET KILLER!!! RUN

  • how the heak did viacom tack over paramount???

  • They bought it, simple as that.

  • From the first time I heard it for real, I thought the theme used in the logos from 2:26-3:08 sounded EXACTLY like the first six notes of "Star Wars". I even thought it was a kind of inside joke at 20th Century Fox's Star Wars franchise since Paramount had Star Trek to themselves. I was surprised Fox, Lucas or John Williams didn't raise a fuss over so obvious a theme.

  • @pbanta62

But in reality that fanfare is actually an adaptation of the old 1930s "Paramount on Parade" theme composed by Elsie Janis and Jack King.

  • Paramount has created some of the greatest shows/movies ever. Star Trek, Mork and Mindy, The Brady Bunch, The Odd Couple, Family Ties, Forrest Gump, Ghost, etc.....

  • I second that.

My all-time favorite Paramount Television (and some Desilu) series include: "The Lucy Show," "The Brady Bunch, " "Happy Days," "Laverne and Shirley," "Webster," "Solid Gold," and all incarnations of "Star Trek."

I recently heard rumors that National Amusements was going to revive the Paramount Television name and restore it and CBS Productions into two separate companies again; so far, no truth to those speculations.

  • My favorites are Star Trek Series, Happy Days, Family Ties, Solid Gold, Entertainment Tonight, Real TV, Life Camera Action, Webster, The Brady Bunch, Mission: Impossible, Laverne & Shirley, Judge Joe Brown and Cheers as well as JAG.

and as far as the rumors go, I hope that they come true, I would rather see Paramount Television on shows like JJB and ET rather than the CBS Television Logo.

  • Agreed!

  • Sorry, it's a done deal; CBS Paramount Television is now CBS Television Studios as of mid 2009.

  • Comment removed

  • The only show that seemed loyal to the Blue Mountain logo was "Cheers".

  • I read in an old newspaper article that Paramount had a television subsidary formed in 1939, the first movie studio to do so.

  • Re:Viacom accompanied Paramount when it was in their 90th anniversary. GO VIACOM!

Oh Yeah, Gwiz? Here's 2 Words For You:YOU SUCK!

  • desilu was first that changed to paramount and cbs bought paramount. it was doing so good

then new shows that are cbs were suppose to be paramount i dont have much issues with this then new nick but cbs bought paramount and it be better if they had it the same

  • I agree with that too.

  • They would show the logo with same song at 1:03 all the time after every MASH episode I watched and it scared the hell outta me.

  • Re:They would show the logo with same song at 1:03 all the time after every MASH episode I watched and it scared the heck outta me.

Actully, M*A*S*H* Is Only On Paramount Comedy, & That Channel Is Only Found On Television In The UK!

  • Um, no, WareWolf, we get M*A*S*H* on alot of stations in the U.S., too....

  • Desilu Was Paramount and then paramount was paramount then cbs!

  • I heard the last logo on "Wheel of Fourtune" and "Jeopardy" when I watch it.

  • I have the logo of Desilu & the Paramount blue mountain with "A Gulf + Western Company" on a Star Trek tape when Channel 33 aired "Trek Fest '90" when I was little. I never seen so many old ones before! I came up with a little "Desilu dance" & I usually do it when I see the Desilu logo come on. Thanks for posting this!

  • OH GOD! MY HEAD!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm suprised that it has come from Desilu (1950s) to Paramount (1960s-2005) to CBS/Paramount (2006-07?) to CBS television (2008-present)

  • 1;17/1:51

the same "television service" special ident with different music.

    GREAT

  • Scary from start to finish!!!!

  • I should get the mid 1980's one as my ringtone, it would annoy me so much I'd have to answer my phone straight away!

  • Strange thing, sometimes, the CBS Television logo will sometimes catch me off-guard and make me jump a little. I guess the Closet Killer's ghost haunts it or something...

  • OMG was this annoying or what!

  • I'm sorry...yes, Desilu was Desi and Lucy's production company, which I believe was formerly a lot owned by RKO or Monogram or one of those studios, adjacent to the Paramount movie lot. Gulf+Western bought out Desilu in 1967, tore down the wall between the two studios, and renamed Desilu as Paramount Television.

  • Did Desilu belonged to Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball?

  • I believe they used that at the end of I love lucy as well

  • No, maybe in first-run syndication, but the original prints had a custom in-credit logo with an announcer.

  • Yes.

  • 0:12 is viacom's theme song lol

  • 2:38-3:06 VIACOM :(

  • Why are we losing all our old studio logos to places like Sony, CBS, and Luthercorp?

  • Why?Because of Dirty,Greedy,Filthy,Stanky,Skanky Money that's why and you can thank the young idiots from 28-45 years old for doing that. They're practically srewing up everything in this new generation.Oh yeah and that's including old studio logos and completely zooming past Television credits as if it were not important...

  • that's exactly it.

  • @LPOSLA

Isn't that the truth? Amen to what you said!

  • i mean they are screwing up this new generation!

  • Did the mountain suddenly grow in the logo @ 2:18? Its peak's overlapping the word "Television"!

  • lol...someone sketched the mountain too high it must have been a studio flub...

  • as a matter of fact the big blue mountain @ 2:18 was used for the 4th season of Webster.

  • That's not what I asked!

  • Did anyone notice in the newer Paramount logos (2:26 - 3:06) that the clouds in the background are actually moving?

  • I have Seen The Paramount Blue Mountain from "Mork And Mindy"

  • Why are some of the logos from The N, when it was a block on Noggin?

  • The Closet Killer keeps on killing the Paramount Television Majestic Mountain.

  • any idea who composed the music for these logos?

  • Lalo Shifrin! He's to blame for helping to spread the nightmares all across America during the airing of these Blue Mountain Paramount logos.

  • @LPOSLA yeah, but he plays a damn mean piano!!....check out one of his CD's!!

  • @citizenterryk cool! i'll definitely keep that in mind...

  • Holy crap, some of those Blue Mountain logos still can send a chill up one's spine. Great compilation.

  • I think the one at 00:30 is really, really creepy.

  • yeah,it looks and sounds as it's coming out of the tv to get you! lol

  • This one is even better than the last one you did, JohnnyL80.

  • This is the best collection of Paramount logos I've ever seen. You really outdid yourself, JohnnyL80. By the way, I've never heard the one at 2:06 before. That's rare.

  • Same here, that's the "chill up the spine" logo I mentioned in my earlier comment. It's also kind of funny sounding at the same time.

  • The 1978 jingle kind of makes me nervous.

  • Wonderful! BTW, CBS Television Distribution is the main distribution arm of CBS Paramount Television while CBS Paramount Network Television is the main production arm.

  • Freakin' AWESOME!

  • excellent!!
