  • man i miss music like this I cant stand all this bullshit stupid hoe garbage misleading the youth we need mc's like queen latifah monnie love and mc lyte in the game

  • @Mr707BAYAREA hhahha :) im liking the humour

  • i'm in my 40's and came up in the TRUE hip hop area and i have to disagree with what's said about nikki..if you REALLY listen to her mic skills and her flow, she understands how to rap metaphorically as those back in my day..her young jeezy and a few others have that gift..alot of what's out today is crap but they are few that still try and be true to the game..it's a different time now then in the past and they rap about what's happening in their time..some is dope, most is garbage

  • There is a difference between Hip Hop and Hip Pop. I'm glad these women know how to Hop their Hips. I'm also glad I found this part of youtube.

  • Ohkkkaaayyy so it's true nicki minaj isn't the greatest.... But uk she's gt balls comin out here doin wat she wants...she dnt care if u like it bcuz at the end of the day u viewing her nd she's gettin money from the fans and haters... So hate if u wanna but if she on ya mind nd u still lookin at her she still gettin ya money!!! NOBODY CAN TOP QUEEN THO IM SRRY LIL KIM OR WHO EVZ ELSE BUT SHE'S THE BEST! I start studying queen for my health project and she was a QUEEN I ACTUALLY PREFER OLD SCHOO

  • I love you Queen - you know what you saying and you know what you doin

  • Nicki who? This is what call a true female rapper! Queen Latifah's songs had meaning and not all about sex. She didn't drag out a word for 10 seconds.

  • @mcfarlinbrandon68 Couldn't agree with you more! This is the type of hip-hop/rap I LOVE to listen to!

  • Minaj is a terrible role model for young girls today

  • im young im 15 and i rather lil kim ms queen l.foxy brown remy ma all dem FUCK NICKI MINAJ AND ALL THAT STUPID SHXT!

  • I grew up listening to some of this hip hop, especially those tunes that sent great social messages. I'm just glad this music video hasn't been forever lost.

  • Where's our feminist role models in the media today?

  • Monie Killed it!!! this here my jam!!

  • I love how she is so strong and fierce about how women are just as good as men... thank god for queen

  • This is when young girls back in old days were more talented, knows how to DRESS, Higher Self Esteem in manner. Young Girls, even young Single Moms nowadays are Fake, out of control with nasty attitude, low-self esteem, having babies out of wedlock by Thug deadbeat dads, wearing their tight ass jeans to show off, Texting 24/7, on their cell phones all day talking about other people's business.

  • also joyful noise is a good movie

  • that's my gf at 1:02

  • hail to the queen,

  • This was my national anthem when I was a kid...True female rappers.

  • Comment removed

  • im only 15 and i love Queen Latifah! Shes what u call real talent :) she dont need no fake ass or breasts cos she has talent :)))

  • @evespoisonous u go girl....much respect to you for selecting a positive role model!!!!! u gonna do something great with your life, i can tell....

  • @evespoisonous Correct. Continue to support the real female mc's out there who can actually spit. Lol...

  • im A young GIRL and i dont listion to nikki minja i come on this side of youtube because i think the sound and flow is better then that high beats &techno stuff i proud to say im not brain wash I <3 HIP HOP

  • show

  • This brings back memories, I was only four I remember this video vividly and listening to and just being fascinated by the female heavy hitters... Ms. Melodie, Monie Luv, MC Lyte and Salt N Pepa. coming up. Make me wish that I was much older to really enjoy these ladies during their start.

  • i think ladies first is true but really latifa making a huge deal out of it.

  • that latifah is something else

  • queen latifah is good...nothing im used to listening to im 16 and all i hear rapped is weed, sex, alochol

  • Love queen's glasses

  • This is sexist.

  • Fuck Nicki Minaj!! Nuttin but an ugly big bootied bodaggin bitch ass trick with no talent and a brainwashed audience... Keep movin cunt...

  • Someone needs to show Nicki Minaj this and remind her that you don't have to be a gimmick to be a good female rapper

  • Monie went in

  • man, hip hop with a message. I miss this more than I can explain. Ive completely left new school hip hop outa my life.

  • empowering hip hop... how I miss you so

  • Monie Love and Queen Latifah. Remember Ralph McDaniels used to show this on Video Music Box.

  • This is my Hip Hop!

  • The best!

  • Queen latifah that Dyke.

  • Man Queen was the shit back in the day. I still listen to her music. Oh and stop putting that "barbie" in the same sentence as the queen. I call that treason punishable by death.

  • These young kids of today dont know NOTHIN about this shit rite here. That TRUE hip hop. Not that Nicki Minaj barbie doll BS that we see today. Smh... The young girls of today have been so dumbed down and brainwashed that they wouldn't know how to react if they heard a real female mc like this. Lol...

  • @Mr707BAYAREA not all im 13 and i dislike Nicki Minaj how can a human be a freaking barbie doll she can actually sit down somewhere I LOVE QUEEN LATIFAH

  • @wilkinsfox65 Wow... I didn't know young girls like you thought like this. Lol... Dont eva change young sista. Continue to have that mindset and support agreeable, true hip hop like Queen Latifah and others.

  • @Mr707BAYAREA lol dnt worry i won't change

  • @Mr707BAYAREA Im a teenager but i prefer the 90's and early 00's over anything

  • @alexqaz3 Yeah the 90's had some real good music and so did the early 2000's... I say around 2006/2007 is when rap and hip hop started to go on the decline...

  • ;)

  • Some people are still not getting it, we all know nicki minaj is not all that HOWEVER, old school hip hop had it right promoting women and unity and respect, sure they had their beefs (Latifah's name callin' diss) but they made a point of showing women to be more than a toy for men. Yet stil were dissing nicki, sure she may be a slut/fake or whatever, but my issue with her is not that coz Lil kim was promiscous but kim actually had talent and was about women.

  • da Queen has spoken...

  • classic dis my joint

  • I never knew Queen Latifa rapped. I always thought she was just an actor... great discovery! :D

  • @BeauParfaite Oh yes, dear....She had an entire life of hip hop before she ever stepped on the big screen. One of the best female emcees out there.

  • Hell yea

  • I remember listening to this as a little girl and feeling really empowered. This song is still powerful all these years later.

  • In the 90's you didn't see any of the female rappers with a whole bunch of make up on and sound like there having a mental breakdown. It's a shame that hip hop went from who you callin a bitch to I'm a bad bitch.

  • Monie I love u !!!!! and Queen also of course !! GO GO female rapper !

  • A blast from the past..All hale the Queen! She is still puttn it down!

  • sad the industry will not support female rap music like this any more.. this was my shit!

  • @moni83ful 100% true !!

  • Back in the day when females didn't just rap about designer clothes and their vaginas.

When females had respect for themselves and could par with the male MC's.

  • ''I'm conversatin' to the folks who have no whatsoever clue, so listen very carefully as I break it down for you''

If that doesnt convince you Monie has flow...you need your hearing checked.

  • I <3 Latifah but Monie Love has some serious flow not to mention talent! GO MONIE! :)

  • LOver

  • Ladies first! Who the fuck came up with that shit 9 times out of 10 it was a bitch! Lmao -geto boys

  • Who runs the world? Queen Latifah!

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHASHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH

  • this is what rap is missing, damn shame

  • This is a great masterpice of art

  • hmmmmm kvalitka i love you latifah )

  • NOW DISX IS REAL RAP RITE HERE.! ITS HAS A REAL FLOW TO IT. &QUEEN LATIFAH GANA BIH DHA QUEEN FOREVER.

  • Ladies First! -3 damn good song!

  • She did her thing in this

  • It seems older hip hop music is more proud of heritage than prejudice and stereotypes

  • lady first bros betta respect!

  • eines muss man sagen. rappen kann sie.

  • thats right ladies first

  • Shes good (:

  • omg she was so young

  • Who cares what her sexual orientation is.. that's her right.... she good in her music..

  • even tho this song was 16 years old at the time mia bombina sang this song with her sister for our high school talent show and thats when i fell for her

  • fuck lil wayne young mone and b96

  • I was only 19 when this song came out. I remember thinking this chick was pretty cool. Loved the song. Still is and still do.

  • it shows that a female rapper doesn't need to be slutty and alienated the people to be consired good.

THIS IS FOR YOU, NICKI MINAJ. YOU YOUNG MONEY SLUT!!!

  • @DavidAtomic lol YM slut

  • @miamivicepastels83 No. Nicki Minaj is the black Lady Gaga of Young Money, but yeah. She's still a slut.

  • How can you be pro black and be queer? I thought blacks with self knowledge sustained from sexual immorality such as homosexuality. But i guess angela davis broke that stereotype.

  • @veeseee128 You've lost your mind. Queer? Define what lies have been told to you. Define "immorality". I'm as hetero as it gets, and I hope you go "queer". You will be so enveloped in self-hate, that the positive human rights rallies I attend will welcome your absence.

  • @veeseee128 you are an idiot...

  • @DONDRA504GIRL takes one to know one.

  • queen was a dyke back then heard she loved her some pussy. by looking at this vid i can tell. ladies first over men.

  • latifah i heard was homosexual even back then but was in the closet about it., heard her and monie had a thing together.

  • Monie was nice too! wow way ahead of its time

  • Latifah was 19 when this was released! wow!!

  • Love Queen Latifah. She does badass in a classy way.

  • Queen was only 18 when she did this.

  • Love this song monie love goes innn

  • I miss this part of Queen. She was such a rebel back in the day.

  • @girlmusician24 yeah well its hard to be a rebel when youre rich.

  • Love it. Def need these types of lyrics in these female rappers today.

  • Happy Mother's Day! Play Wit It!

  • I'm not a lady but I can't stop listening to this... >:D

  • i like old latifah better then today's latifah

  • I had all her tapes back in the day. She is the first introduce me to females in hip hop/rap. She was/is DOPE!

  • I feel so empowered listening to this!!

  • @maddywoo13 that's what hip hop is supposed to do

  • classssssssssssss

  • Great jam - Latifah flows, but Monie Love killed it!

  • music today is bullshit, except for some artist, but most of these artist can make a song about dumb stuff and it becomes a hit.

  • QUeen Latifah is truly one of the original queens of hip hop.

  • Naw, yall gotta support the muscians who are out that are making quality music. I find it annoying to always here people talking about music today when all you demand is the mess you claim you cant stand. There are so many artist out who are staying true to the essence of hip hop who aren't getting heard.

  • This is pretty good, and I usually do not like rap.

  • This brother respect our sisters. Much love to the pioneer ladies of hip hop who paved the way and didn't get suckered in commercial pop. Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Salt n Pep

  • @THUNDEROUS122 umm as i recal salt n pepa talked about the same things new artist talk about.

  • @THUNDEROUS122 Salt n Pepa was more pop, but I agree with the rest and let's not forget Monie Love.

  • this is back when they were talking about something

  • Check out shelly thunder @ 1:00 I forgot she was in this video.

  • Classically Hip ... pure talent and sophisticated, success in the making - and has. Gotta love the Queen, she needs to do a major remix/remake of this song. '80's in the house!

  • QUEEN LATIFAH

    MC LYTE

    LEFT EYE

WAT THE HELL HAPPENED 2 THE GOOD OL MUSIC

  • @princessdime010 It was the great times of hip hop, wasn't it. I wonder the same thing myself. What happen to good music

  • @THUNDEROUS122 heck yea i jus think that

  • @princessdime010 It's still around. It's all underground. Actually, this was underground when it came out, wasn't it? The 80s was also a shitty time for music where the radio was mostly dominated by hair metal or crappy synth vomit.

  • god bless the short-lived years of hip-house!

  • 0:57 she looked pissed off!! look wht u guys did lmfao

  • Queen Latifah

    MC Lyte

    Left Eye

What has happened to good music?????!!!!!!!

  • Omg...whos that girl wit Latifah...

  • @zendalo08 monie love

  • @gangstervural

Omg...she is young here....i like Monie....tnx 4 tha info bro...

  • @lucasdasilvamania what part of @RedWhiteBlue50 's comment is wrong please inform me in my opinion even the guys in the hip hop world should take notes from this vid

  • Where can I download this version?!?!

  • shut it down

  • HELLZ YEAH! what done happened to music like this

  • I'm lovin' this! Keep it up! Straight up!

  • Where is Monie Love? She is so underrated and she doesn't get enough recognition for her talent and contribution to Hip Hop.

  • Monie Love crushes this.

  • you gotta love the Ooooool ladys first, ladys first part ! I wasnt born yet, im 14 and i LOVE this music ! Wayne,Nicki and any of those other acts ESPECIALLY that erchent (spell check) SOULJA BOY !

  • Instrumental?

  • Thnx for the post

  • i forgot all about ms melody until i saw her in this vid.... Ladies 1st!

  • Monie's flow is awesome! I remember being in the 2nd grade listening to this

  • sooo great to see this again.

  • What about beyoncé? She has a good voice, her songs used to br from good to OK, but now, the lyrics are a big a piece of shit. I guess as long as she has a group of fans with no critical thinking and keep sucking Jay-Z's dick, everything will be fine for that industry's bitch. Latifah represents the women that make good music.death for the sellout bitches like beyoncé and nicki minaj.

  • I remember this video when I was in Washington D.C. in 1989. Monie Love and Queen Latifah has proven that a female rapper does not have to be nasty and slutty to make records and music. This is one of the best female rap videos have have seen and I am not a real big rap fan. It just goes to show how music has changed for the worst from one decade to the next. No one can really name a female rapper that is out now that can hold a candle to these two ladies.

  • Fuck Lil Kim and Minaj, Queen latifah and Lauryn Hill = Queens of Hip Hop.

  • Music used to be ABOUT important stuff! It was empowering. What do we have today? Lady Gaga? Ugh. Nobody sings ABOUT anything today!!!! And that's why music today is shit. Bring back musicians who care about things!!

  • @quoidanslemondequoi Have you ever heard a Lupe Fiasco song?

  • @quoidanslemondequoi Lady gaga actually supports the gay community but i agree, its all still shit

  • @quoidanslemondequoi lady gaga is a stupid wierdo whore i hope that ''thing'' will disapper

  • @quoidanslemondequoi lady gaga is all about empowerment. Born this way is all about accepting who you are.

  • @kubetriangle FUCK DAT SATANIST

  • Women of this generation needs to have this in their playlist

  • Lauryn, Latifah, where are the women of hip hop who were there to guide the women of future generations through the power of hip-hop? Who's gonna save our music, our children? People have GOT to hear this.

  • real lyrics! queen latifah was by far the best female rapper in the game! lil kim, nicki minaj got nothing on her!!!!

  • @princessalikababy123 I agree but why is nicki minaji the queen of hiphop?????

  • Because mainstream isn't embracing real emcees like Jean Grae or Bahamadia. All they can handle is someone like Niki. @reioniji

  • @nayahri i think ppl would embrace it....i just think we are being spoonfed this mess

  • @miamivicepastels83 You have more hope than I do. From the looks of it rappers are more and more dumb than ever. Even Drake (why is he considered to be so great?). It's bleak for hip hop...very bleak.

  • @nayahri i feel the way i do cause i see so many ppl on boards talking like we are....i think ppl are ready for variety

  • Kings ▲ N Queens ▼, Princes ♂ and Princess ☿ ... Black ∞ is beautiful! Marvin Gay said so!! #swaggaWednesday

  • omg the blazers. i remember when those shoulderpadded blazers were so in!

  • Great song, one I'm proud to recommend to my young nieces. And those Patrick Kelly bullet jackets the background dancers are rockin' are fly.

  • Good example of women in hip-hop Notice fully clothed and speaking with intelligence

  • @kebry63 Yeah -- exactly! Human beings, not objects.

  • this is what rap need right na

  • Geto Boys - I'm Not a Gentlemen !!!
