Donna Loren had a beautiful voice...this is my favorite beach movie. Just an fyi for those who don't know..Donna Loren played in a Monkees episode entitled "Everywhere a sheik sheik" as the princess.
Also I cannot believe how young Mike Nader was (the guy on the other side of the fireplace with his girl getting kissed and bumping his head LOL. He was also in the TV show Gidget and General Hospital....just for those who don't know, but I am sure you do :-) Thanks for posting!!
And if we are taking about the same guy (the one roasting/burning the hotdogs, the girl kissing him is Donna Michelle (Ronner), a LA model, famous for her selection as Playboy's December 1963 Playmate and 1964 Playmate of the Year. She was also a gymnast (in high school) and athlete (for what athletics were at the time). Despite her beauty and charm, she never made it as an actress except for small few and far between roles. She eventually became a successful photographer.
I always loved Donna's voice and this is my favorite song from all the "beach" movies. Made me want to move to California and look! I finally did it! Long live Annette and all the girl singers!!
Good song and great looking lady, and I miss the likes of the beach movies, lots of fun and romance. As for poor bonehead, he always gets misunderstood.
Beach', I agree that it's frustrating to cut away from Donna to Keenan Wynn and the chimp, but on second thought it makes you anticipate cutting back to her. Notice how the editor cuts back to Donna just at the right time, on highlights. It's interesting that they took the time to lower her singing on the cut aways as Wynn is further away. This makes it more real as does the sound of the waves. Would the sequence be as powerful by staying 100% on Donna?
The best song in any of the Beach Party movies (and Beach Blanket Bingo had far and away the best girl group songs to begin with)...thanks for sharing, especially the widescreen version
i used to have the biggest crush on her when i was little, does anyone know what the fun song she sang was, it was either from that movie or from one of beach movies
Oh, that one...that's a good one too except for the editing. I hate the way the camera keeps interrupting the song and dancing and cutting away to show that idiot and his pet monkey.
The blonde guy in the red shirt who lies down on the coffee table and eats the hot dog is Johnny Fain, a famous surfer. The guy who puts the hot dog in Johnny's mouth is Mike Nader, another surfer who later played Dex, Joan Collins' boyfriend on Dynasty.
The guy on the guitar ("Ok ready?" "Go, Donna!") is Ned Wynn, son of actor Keenan Wynn (who was in Bikini Beach). He wrote an autobiographical book titled: "We Will Always Live In Beverly Hills" (published somewhere around 1990-92). He writes about his drug and alcohol abuse, being a son of his Father, etc.
Thanks, great post. All this time I thought it was Guy Hemeric, Gary Usher or a young Mike Post (who later produced some of Donna's 45s). I'll get the book on Amazon.
Donna Loren appears in several of the cult classic beach movies, and I felt this song, imparticular, was one of her shining moments in the Beach Series. If you'd like, I could upload some Annette, as I very much enjoy her songs as well.
What a great song!

Great song - and the background vocal females at the beginning set the pace for the song.

Her original " The Way of Love" was better than Cher's redo - which may be why it was removed from here
