I usualy use my hand only and do the up strum with my thumb. I don't know, guess I'll have to use a pick for that.

Double strumming is honestly a little shifty but it sounds fine. If you're going to compare it to Shane Barnard its not even a remotely fair comparison.  That triplet strum is tough..
