@sheametsfan6 He didn't have a father or a mother growing up, he had to live with his aunt and uncle and on top of that he was probably extremely busy fufilling his duties as one of the beatles so he couldn't be a full time, providing father. Cut the man some slack.
The Beatles came together in 1960 not 1961. Five members not four. Included Pete Best (Drums) and Stuart Sutcliffe (Bass). Sutcliffe left in 1961, Pete Best replaced by Ringo Starr in '62. If you are doing a biography, do it right.
@scilscil Maybe so. Only problem when grazing over history is that those who don't know their history will take it as gospel truth. Maybe no one cares about Best and Sutcliffe but I bet they do. I also bet Sutcliffe was pissed that he left the Beatles and then they became the most popular band in the world!
@JakeAfterDark Touche, just read up on Sutcliffe, seems he had a bright future ahead of him though. What a shame. Didn't know that they put him on the cover of Sgt Peppers.
Remember the mighty oak that grew, was once a little nut like me; surely he could not get as mad and angry as I do. Everything I go thru is real, if someone forgot to tell me something - it would probably be best to let me know now. 12.28.10 3:03pm
srry, but ur kindah wrong on sumtin... john didntt decide to leave the band. their manager brian epstein died in india, 1967. so the beatles tried not to argue n tried to manage themselves. but they argued too much. (they lovd each other mor than they argued) but since they ddin't hav a manager, the arguin increased n led to paul one day comin to john's house n sayin "im quiting th band" john was shocked n pissd. soo wen paul left, john left, n there was only george n ringo... soo they jus left.

Fuck all religions there are no fuckin gods, they're all made up stories, I was raised as a catholic and yes i am baptized, and i can still say FUCK GOD and his mother.
You can believe whatever you wish, but please don't come on here and preach to me about what Imagine means. It is merely your opinion and I don't share it and many others don't either. And don't preach to me about Jesus and the terrors of Hell. This isn't a Church and I am not interested in Bible passages and hearing sermons. If you don't like Lennon don't listen to him and focus on singers you do like. I have said enough and will move on now.
There is nothing offensive in the song Imagine to me. He is not putting down Jesus or religion. All he says is Imagine no heaven and hell and yet that is somehow a sin to do. No it isn't. He is expressing an idea through imagination and the song is really a peace song. It doesn't express violent ideas, but a world without hunger, greed, war and living as one. Hardly evil. Yet people cannot respect this. I believe in respecting people for their spiritual or non spiritual beliefs.
Of course I have and I have sang the song on my guitar. And years ago I read the playboy interviews from 1980 where Lennon stated people think I don't believe in God, but I do and think he goes on to say that he thinks Evolution is BS. He actually made himself look quite ignorant by his dismissal of Evolution and the stupid things he said. And in that interview, he said he believed in God. And far as Imagine goes, the lyrics just say imagine there is no heaven & hell and religion.
Lennon was a peace advocate from 1969 onwards and that is a fact. To say he isn't because he got drunk one night and made a mistake and was violent is unfair. Drinking too much can change one's true nature and I know that for a fact for it used to change mine when I was younger and got drunk. But alcohol can poison your mind and it clearly did with Lennon. He loved Stu as his brother and his death really shook Lennon up.
It is true Lennon beat up his friend Stu Sutcliffe, but there is no evidence that beating led to his death. Stu's sister wrote a book and said that, but is just a theory, so you are being naive to believe. Stu was beaten up a few years below after a Beatles show, but a group of thugs and they bashed his head against a wall. That could have contributed to his death too. No one knows for sure.
Well if you honestly all believe that John Lennon gave a shit about peace, you really need to read up on the man. Check out the kicking he gave Stuart Sutcliffe which led to his death to find out how violent he was.
I strongly object to you publicizing John's killer. By promoting his name, you help him maintain notoriety for his crime. If you truly wish to honor John and his memory, you will edit out the murder's name from this video. Recognizing John's death in no way requires you to publicize his murderer. You play into the murderer's hands by doing so. Let John's killer be obscured in anonymity and gain nothing from his crime. I ask you this in John's memory and in recognition of what John stood for.
what is that cool commercial thing. "whatever you do, do it for peace" u know, the piss on peace or smile for peace, how do i get the whole, un cut video?

@Bumbley1 Sutcliffe doesn't really care, either. He died in Hamburg before the Beatles even had a recording contract.

Lennon was not an atheist. In 1980, he said in an interview he believed in God and did not believe in Evolution. Your statement is wrong.
