i love that in reavh u can put your own character in the storey its so cool. i wish u could do that in halo 4 but its gong to have masterchief so u cant. i wonder if halo 4 will be good sins it isnt going to be made by Bungi but instead 343 industries
How did this not win best soundtrack? That violin solo is killer!!!!! The VGAs was a complete joke. They shut down doors to games that should've deserve an awards.
The whole VGA was a joke. Halo Reach should switch awards with Black Ops. because Halo is more on story and Black Ops is more on multiplayer. Also, Reach should've won best original score.
there should be a vote for vga awards for fans on who should be the host this year and since watching this we are all or should be in agreement that nathan drake wait so sorry nathan filliion should be the host of the 2011 vga.
@carnby1990 i cant agree with you more... Neil Poof Harris is a joke, he made gaming look sooooo corny and geeky whereas Fillion delivers iconic class and respect, you can tell he is a genuine gamer and whereas Neil poof is a massive sellout after watching Vga i cant watch himym anymore HAHAHA
The entire vga didnt make sense. somehow mass effect 2 won Xbox 360 Game of the year. Doesnt halo reach have its own custom console? controller? Isnt halo the reason why some people even have an xbox 360? Doesnt Halo reach have the deepest story of any fps released? The amazing soundtrack?
They didn't even announce Star wars Battlefront 3!!
@Hakudo2VisualKei You heard it in this video, halo is a story of saving the entire human race, the differences that certain men and women make by themselves. How the admiral and the lieutenant in first strike gave their lives to destroy majority of the fleet that attacked earth. What Cpt. Keys did. When Kurt stayed behind to save the rest of Blue team from the covenant. The Battle of New Mombasa... Sgt Johnson. The spartan team from halo wars..look at what Dr. Halsey had to do..
@ClusiveC I actually think Mass Effect 2 deserved it. It was too epic for words. Now, don't get me wrong, Halo: Reach was FUCKING AWESOME :D. In terms of story, even though the ending was a bit of a tear-jerker, Halo games were never that big on character developement or deep story. Like I said, don't get me wrong, I loved them all, even ODST. ME2 was just plain oragasmic, and I honestly think it deserved GOTY over Red Dead Redemption, and I liked RDR too.
@Vexeron1 You have to read books to know more about character development. Halo has always been big on deep story, you just have do a bit of reading. Halo has always been about the difference that one man can make. How sam sacrificed his life to destroy the covenant ship, like jorge. Or how the admiral gave his life to destroy majority of the fleet that was headed for earth. How sgt johnson told the mc to send him out with a bang. The speech lord hood gave at the end of halo 3...
@ClusiveC Actually, I did read the books. All of them (The Eric Nylund ones were by far the best, although The Cole Protocol was surprisingly really good). I meant the GAMES themselves. Books admittedly have more room to tell a story, and they did a damn good job of it. As for character developement, the things you pointed out were not necessarily developement, but heroic/memorable actions. I believe Mass Effect does a better job with developement, but still, the Halo games/books are great :D.
@Vexeron1 I cant think of a character in the halo games that doesnt really have good character development. Of course halo reach did a good job, seeing that Jorge was more sympathetic, Emile was more hardcore, Kat being a tech geek, Jun talking alot and favoring the sniper rifle. Sgt johnson, The Arbiter, Miranda Keys personality of being independent "I dont care if i have the clearance or not" (halo 2). But that doesnt change the fact of how deep the story of the halo universe is.
@ClusiveC Character Developement is how a character changes over time. Throughout the games, and even the books (but less so in the books), the characters stay the same. Johnson, the Chief, and Miranda Keyes are badasses, and stay as such throughout all of the games, and they're just a few examples. The only character who goes through the most change is the Arbiter. There's always more to it, but the games themselves aren't big on character developement. The story was pretty good, just not deep.
@Vexeron1 Well think about it. Of course mass effect has more character development, it wouldnt make any sense for any fps game to have better developed characters than any mass effect. Mass Effect almost has no choice but to be big with their characters, thats what me2 is all about. Building a team of the best fighters in the galaxy. Halo has a pretty well thought up story compared to any other fps game you can think of. Forerunner trilogy, boot camp, Battle of harvest, Uprising, Helljumpers...
@warrennguyen08 Mass Effect 2 doesnt have a waypoint like halo does. Mass effect 2 doesn't have a studio releasing anime for it like halo does(Ex. Mona Lisa)
Mass Effect 2 doesn't have an entire development team dedicated to its franchise, other than bioware. Mass Effect 2 doesn't have its own custom console like halo reach. Mass Effect 2 isn't the reason why hundreds of people even have an xbox, but halo is. I could go on forever and ever and ever.
@ClusiveC You can't give a game a GOTY award based on it's franchise, the game itself has to stand alone. Otherwise think of all the crappy games out there that would have gotten a GOTY award based on it's franchise.
@DEATHBYFLYINGCDS I don't know if you know the history of star wars or not, but star wars actually has some of the greatest games ever released. Battlefront series. Star wars galaxies. The old republic. Republic commando. Empire at war. There aren't that many crappy star wars games other than the lego series and republic heroes.
How many people can you find that's looking forward to me3? How many people can you find that has had an epic experience with me2?
@ClusiveC I've played most of the star wars games out there, and know of all the others. First off there are 4 star wars games based on their animated series, so you can pretty much count those as automatic crap. Then in order of their wiki listing there is star wars battle for naboo, obiwan, obiwan's adventures, the phantom menace, episode 2 attack of the clones, the new droid army revenge of the sith, Star wars galaxies-POST NGE, the clone wars(2002), demolition, super bombad racing,
@ClusiveC There are a few others, but those are just what I could fit in one text box. On the bright side the clone wars (2002) actually has a version that comes with tetris on the same disc, and got it for like $2 at gamestop, which is why I have it. Fact is, the star wars franchise and countless others, don't have the golden touch. I like star wars believe me I do, I've been tracking "The old republic" for years, and am even a beta tester.
@DEATHBYFLYINGCDS Either way, the majority rules. The more fans you have, the better your game must be. Majority is siding with Halo, rather than Mass Effect.
Even still, taking Franchise out of the factor, Halo Reach should have still won. The game was easily more anticipated than ME2 was. More updates. More stuff to do, as far as gameplay goes. The game attracted way more attention than ME2, even though Mass effect is a really big franchise. VGA 2010 was stupid, point blank.
@ClusiveC As any case of blue balls can tell you, anticipation is no guarantee of delivery, or quality. The judges have to be unbiased in their decision, which means the number of fans, and the amount of attention it receives CANNOT be taken int account. Just look at all the hype that surrounded star wars episode 1's release. I hate to keep using star wars as an example but they are the masters of great productions and horrible let downs.
@DEATHBYFLYINGCDS Well, I still say that Reach should have won. Reason why is because, when Halo 1 was released, the game became xbox's killer app, almost instantly. And it still is. Nothing has replaced it yet. Not gears of war, and neither is left 4 dead.
What is taken into account then? The length of the campaign? The amount of characters? Mass Effect 2 was 360 game of the year, somehow, when the game didn't even have as high of a review as Reach did. IDK who they have judging but theyre dumb
I wish the show had been more like this. After NPH won Best Performance by a Human Male, I couldn't watch it anymore. Nathan Fillion should've been the host and Dane Cook could go to hell.
@Bakllazaan you can download it on the net :) just need to know where to look, dont worry you didnt miss much alot of shitty neil patrick harris jokes :( waste of time haha

To make it even worse, the damned game isn't even an xbox 360 exclusive. What kind of sense does it make to name the game 360 GOTY then?
That's like saying Gears 3 is PS3's GOTY this year.
