  • one of my fave. cover version of her

  • iko-ikooooo!!!!!!-super!!!!

  • Ms Lauper took "Jack-A-Mo" up - much to my surprise and delight. She made a worthy interpretation! Sad she didn't continue much - this is really good.

  • @joacos Sad she didn't continue much? What?! She is still making great music to this day. She has released 9 albums since this concert in 1986. Any of her true fans would know that.

  • skeleton key XD

  • I will always be again 18 yrs old when I see or here or hear. Splendid; also it helps that she looks like a very good friend who is a singer; Lori Yates.

    Hope she is well too.

    rock on people

    Regards, G.Thomas Stewart

  • @gtsify do you go by G or Thomas?

  • Sounded to me like she was singing what would have been the harmony if her backup singers had been a bit louder.

  • cyndi soo cute soo beautiful..who can wears just anything..xx she sings better than madonna.

  • Love Cyndi Lauper!!!!! Forverer

  • Wild Chopitoulas gonna' stomp some romp! Not to mention the Red White and Blue. Betta keep yo' tourist WA in da hotel till you go to Brennan's for a second rate brunch.

  • Say what you like about Cyndi, I've always liked her (with some exceptions).... but look at that organization she's got backing her up!

  • My ears are bleeding

  • I like her, but she butchered this...

  • she's shit lol.

  • @tammas2000

You said it so that means you have it in your mouth.

  • More Cowbell!

  • @123palimpsest I agree!!!!! MORE COWBELL!!!!!

  • @123palimpsest more TITS.

  • This great and entertaining song is my favorite Non-single track on Cyndi's "True Colors" album (along with "911"). Cyndi was the Bomb in the 80's like Madonna, Michael Jackson and Tina Turner

  • my douche friend says to your douche friend im gonna set your porch on fire

  • no no no

  • In the Arab countries America is nicknamed "The Mother of Nations". This refers to the notion that new ways of looking at things, new ways of doing things, comes from America.

This Cyndi Lauper is an example of the best of "The Mother of Nations".

As for "United States", well not so much good thoughts, even by Americans.

Good videao, Cyndi Lauper is a dear.

  • GET A T-SHIRT THAT FITS.

  • The song spoiled the ugly sod in the striped t-shirt that is much to small for him pratting about beside Cyndi

  • @Gapples007 you guys are so lame. sorry his attire doesn't fit your standards..

  • @NevanImranTheCambion Thanks for saying sorry, but you need not have bothered, that was 7 month ago, I got over it now !

  • by the way what is the meaning of these Iko Iko words? i am desperate to know the meaning. this song has got Stucked in my Head and i am humming it at any time.

    Please help me..

  • No doubt she looks beautiful and sings very well but her Hair looks wierd. then too i like her songs, they are good and feels energetic.

Listen Music and Sooth ur Soul..

  • Lohar- She is looking unusual yes but I am still available to slip this one my salami upon her request. I am liking her looks because she is nice in legs and buttocks as well. Her breasts are lovely and I am finding myself thinking about them again. I would defineitely bone this woman.

  • Okay, I'm a new orleans creole and it is apparent to me that all of you are talking out of your a** because none of you know where this song came from. And it's so annoying to read your comments saying you hate this version when you dont even know who did the original or what this song is about.

  • suka - Its from the Couer D,Alene Indian Tribe in Idaho isnt it?

  • guess its a good thing she was just having a good time and not tryin to win ya'll over

  • Love Cyndi Lauper..but Dr. John's version f Iko Iko is the best...ever...

  • yet another talentless armchair expert.

  • @Wanderer123 Actually I think Dr. John absolutely destroyed the original...this one is actually more faithful to Sugar Boy's original.

  • aku suka lagu-lagunya cyndi, apalagi yang tahun '84-85, keren...thanx for all...

  • She is so beautiful, I like her with long hair¡

  • Iko, elegant

donwloan my music from web site delchoco*com

  • I LUV YOU CYNDI!!!!

  • poor trick

  • I like Cyndi Lauper, but this sounds dreadful.

  • Shemade her voice sound native in this or close to indian, i don't know bu it sounds good.

  • I'm a Goonies fan so I must say I like some of Cindy's music, but this rendition of Iko Iko is horrendous! She's so out of her element trying to sing this song.

The Belle Stars did the best version of the Dixie Cups' original track in my opinion.

  • Comment removed

  • it was kickass...what are you talkin about!

  • Lol, Dr. Jon did a great remake. Absolutely love it.

  • grateful dead had the best rendition...

  • @OL78Harley

Exactly. Check out Live in Egypt 1978 (DVD or CD) - killer version.

  • I love that version!

  • BrokenChair - I suggest that you listen to the Neville Brothers version of this as begun with the same tempo version of Brother John. Cyril is definitely on this night !

  • I first heard this song as a high schooler in 1965 at dances held in The Laborers Union Hall on Tchoupitoulas Ave. in New Orleans. The Dixie Cups sang it at that time and from then on more and more people did it.I had no clue what it meant or what language it was.But who cared ?

  • Just charming. She was such a cutie.

  • Now that is a woman.

  • Yipes....

  • Personally, I don't care who else has done a version; I love it!

    Cheers for posting.

    x

  • I like the album version, I think Patti LaBelle is the guest singer on it. CYNDI RAWKS!!!!!

  • i think, that The Dixie Cups did the original.

  • The Dixie Cups did not do the original, but they did the first official remake after it originally came out in the 50's. I like their version the best. It has been remade by some number of different artists.

  • na that one sucked

  • ignorant. the dixie cups. 1964.

  • hm, I don't like this version. I like the Grateful Dead version. (:

  • Wonderful

  • The lyrics of the song are based on Louisiana Creole French. The phrase Iko Iko may have been derived from one or more of the languages of Gambia, possibly from the phrase Ago!, meaning "listen!" or "attention!"

  • "Iko Iko" is a much-covered New Orleans song that tells of a parade collision between two "tribes" of Mardi Gras Indians. The lyrics are derived from Indian chants and popular catchphrases. The song, under the original title "Jock-A-Mo", was written in 1954 by James "Sugar Boy" Crawford in New Orleans, but has spread so widely that many people take it to be a much older folk song. The song is closely identified as a Mardi Gras song, but it is equally known as a Top 40 hit

  • parkhamuptonwest, you are right, most of these lyrics are derived from Choctah Language, a tribe that like My own Crow People still speak our Indian Languages as a first language! Kewl to see you bring this up!!!

  • cyndi is awesome :3

  • i love cyndi....

    iko iko is cool ^^

  • I LUV YOU CYNDI!!!!

  • go sterling!

  • It is a New Orleans song, but it is not cajun it's creole. look it up.

  • fwi--aiko or iko is a slang cajun term for PARTY!!
