  • Still think these are the scariest vampires.

  • It doesn't show up in this 'montage', but the reason why Ben Mears can't properly close the door of his jeep from the outside is because the door has a mechanism to close the door from the inside, which one can see early on in the production, when Ben Mears gets into his jeep at night outside the Marsden House.

  • The vampire looks like my uncle Charles when he gets drunk... :-\

  • That is one creepy ass lookin vampire! Lol

  • It's funny that the whole town was waiting to meet Mr. Barlow. If only they knew meeting Mr. Barlow was not going to be a good thing lol.

  • the master truely scared the crap out of me when I was little! if I ran into that dude grown up now I'd still be crapping in my pants!!

  • I'm a teenage girl and haven't even watched Twilight or read the books (though I daresay the books are better than the film; most of the girls who fantasize about the pretty-boys in Twilight haven't even read a book in their lives). Seriously, Stephen King is my kinda horror. The old scary films are the best; nowadays it's hard to be original and even harder to keep from cliche. Tobe Hooper+Stephen King, perfect match ^^ x

  • @HannieeeAllStar finally a girl after my own heart who knows true horror!!!!!!!

  • ptmre son puras fotos q se jodan esos pts maricones q isieron esto

  • This was a "Made for TV" movie back in the 70s. It still scares the crap out of me today! Alot scarier then the new vampire movies today.

  • nyahhhhhhhhh!!!!! That is scary. a "Nosferatu" they say, i love this movie!

  • I read the stephen king book, the vampire in the book is depicted as a sort of good looking dude & he talks in the book.

  • This is some scary shit!!

  • Cool!!

  • In the book Mr. Barlow is not like this. He has a moustache and slick black hair, plus he talks suave and is much more attractive..... But everything else in this movie is just like in the book.

  • The lead vampire in this movie/book novel was no handsome, suave, smooth talking type "Dracula" like in other movies(1992 Bram Stroker's "Dracula" or 1979's "Dracula"or for today's young generation's "Twilight").He's a tribute(or is) to the German's 1922,"Nosferatu".

  • that vampire scares the shit out of me every time i see it

  • He has one hell of an orthodontic problem! XD XD XD

  • The funny thing is the vampire looks retarded

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself no way.

  • @SpyWhoLovedHimself no he doesn't and why would u find that funny?

  • Oh god that vampire sends chills down my back but its funni to look at his teeth lol

  • @XxJoJoxX211 thats a nosferatu vampire one look and he shall make you mad brulla are sexy and wise ones

  • great

  • the remake is crap ,james mason is great

  • lol silver bullet an salem depot r one of the scariest den any wer wolf or vampire movie

now twilight is just a load of shit XD

  • scay as hell movie and book

  • 0:39 Thats what a fucking vampire looks like, not some twilight bullshit motherfucker who wants to save you from being a helpless annoying bitch. He wants to fucking kill you, not cuddle you and buy you tampons!

  • @thrashitupX if vampires look like that there shit, i think its better when they look human but then end up ripping someone up like in underworld or blade! :D i find that they look comical like this.

  • @thrashitupX You hit that shit on the head!

  • @thrashitupX I love you! Couldn't have put it better myself. Woah! He has TEEETH! I think I may need therapy he is so scarey. HA HA HA. The MASTER he no cuddle, he no kissy. He Bitey very hard, then you is a VAMPIRE. When I saw this movie, this scene, where the Master is revealed made my Dad and I jump in our seats. Bella honey, where the Master is concerned, thou shalt be bitten, very hard. Nuff said.

  • @thrashitupX true that like kain for blood is the life yeah rip her apart or turn her so she can lure more blood aka food hahahaha we need a new vamp game like this

  • @thrashitupX OH SHIT MATE!!! THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!!! The industry now is trying to get all these teens to LOVE vamps??? WTF!!! As the head vamp in Lost Boys says: SILLY BOY. YOU DONT INVITE A VAMPIRE INTO YOUR HOUSE....

  • @PhflyDan1 I'm glad I'm one of the few teens to not be caught in the trap. Hail Stephen King!

  • @thrashitupX

Vampires look like little blond boys?

  • @thrashitupX here here you got that right!!!))) but now we cater to the teeny boppers with all the sexualized bullshit vampires!! Bela Lugosi will be the one and only true vampire in my eyes!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @thrashitupX Lmfao Cuddle Yuh N By Yuh Tampons Had Meh Rolling xD!!

  • @thrashitupX I don't quite get your tampon comment, However this is exactly how a vampire should look. I was seven years old when this film first came out and it scared the holy shit out of then, Still today some scenes still have that impact.

  • @thrashitupX LOL

  • @thrashitupX HAHAHA

  • "What would you give for this miserable boy?". Sounds like a pedophile auction.

  • This movie blows The Exorcist away for frights and chills, the scariest movie ever made!

  • barlow was all fucked up lookin lol. Not what the book made me thing of him, though I didnt expect him to be. Straker was supposed to be bald and Barlow was the one with sleeked back hair :D

  • @generalshermancross Do you know who played the head vampire bud?

  • Reggie Nalder

  • @kezadrone I sure dont

  • I watched this movie as a kid and it thoroughly scared the shit out of me!!!

  • i have this movie on Vhs and i got in 1 tape and it 111 mins

  • Get the full version on DVD.

  • scarey ass vampire

  • This mini series (2 parts) was on tv when I was 17. It was scary like hell, but I watched it all. The girl at front of my place came to watch it with me and at the first scary scene she remembered she did not do her homeworks. Did I ever teased her the day after :) Still one of my favorite mini-series.

  • So true. This takes some beating imo, more than a horror.

  • HA haha. I have Wabbit fangs.

Come on man. The fangs should be canines, not sharp incisors.

  • Domz, Barlow is supposed to have the look of the Vampire in Nosferatu, not like other Vampire movies. If you've ever seen what the character looked like in the old films, you would understand.

  • Yeah, Barlow bites you with those and you're not going to have two pinpricks in your throat, you're going to have one damn big hole.

  • 0.20 look at the head on that and the price of cabbage

  • Not a big vampire movie fan but this vampire is the scariest fkn thing I've ever seen. The scene in the jail made my head hit the ceiling. Brrrrrr

I saw this when it was originally on tv in 79 but I haven't seen it since, til now. Its still damn creepy!

  • i have the dvd i screamed at the first five minutes of it lmao

  • Hauer can't scare anyone. Vampires who talk all the time are never scary. The terror that Nalder's Barlow inspires upon the audience is by his mere presence, not sounding deliciously evil.

  • please tell me this,I hate vampire films, yet this is my favourite horror of all time. Piss on the remake, and they tried to spoil it with return to salems lot. Best of the stephen king films imo.

  • 0.o That was so Creepy!

  • best vap movie !!

  • One of my all time fave Vampire make-up jobs on film. Barlow still creeps me out. Would love to see an interview of this guy.

  • I totally agree , I have the book , Illustrated Edition , a must have =))

  • tobe hooper is completly hit or miss. Sometimes he completly sucks and sometimes he shines like this film.

  • @jimmynorton1001 I agree. The original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is a great horror film, but the second one was awful. Which is ironic, because usually sequels suck because they're not made by the original director.

  • @jimmynorton1001 Very true, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and this film proves just that fact. However' Poltergeist absolutely sucked to the point of oblivion.

  • Does anyone know if this flick is on dvd?

  • you better

  • oh yeah, its been out for 7-8 years or so, one of the first DVD i bought

  • You can get it but your best bet is ebay.

  • Yes, it is. I just borrowed it from the library today.

  • Yes it is, but it is very hard to find. Even at CD Universe it's very rare that they have it.

  • I found the DVD easily at F.Y.E. I think Barnes and Noble also carries it.

  • Yes. It is on DVD.

  • want to see this so bad!

  • It's all here on YouTube. You can start by typing "Salem's Lot (1979) Part 1".

  • You kicked ass at the montage.

  • have you scene the remake with Rob Lowe. It had some pretty freaky scenes too.

  • I slept with lights on for a week after watching this!

  • such a scary movie, much scarier than the dam horror ones today!i have this on video=p its so scery!

  • FFuucckk me in my asshole

  • Very artistically done. One of the best horror movies ever made, in my opinion.

  • A small town becomes infested with your sisters

  • what is this movie about?

  • A small town becomes infested with vampires.

  • lol my dad has got this film lol

  • Jesus saves

  • Jesus couldn't save the priest!

  • People who go to church and believe in god and the devil and all that bullshit are just wasting their time.

  • No were not. We are saving our souls from hell. God Bless. I will pray for you!

  • Don't, like I said, you'll just waste your time.

  • let ppl live their own lives. if u dont believe in God, thats fine, but maybe we do so dont comment o stuff like dat if ur just gonna attack them about it.

  • Well even if there is a god, what does he do for us? He laughs at the homeless and cancer patients. He could have made a perfect world but he decides to fuck with us. GOD CAN SUCK MY ASSHOLE.

  • u kno wat they say? God works in mysterious ways, so hes probably got a plan 4 us somewhere along the road. and God duznt laugh at them! we do! we have all the right tools to fix the homeless problem and we SHOULD be working on dat cancer problem. the fuckers in the government r the ones fucking us over! not God!

  • Like I said, he could have made it perfect. He gives great rimjobs so i've been told.

  • like I sed, u have ur own opinions. i have mine and they have theirs. speaking of which, r u full blown atheist? stupid question, but i was just wonderin...

  • You know this guy is only try'n to start an argument by saying shit like that. Don't encourage him

  • Every knee shall bow.

  • I don't belive there is a god. If so what's the meaning of life there isn't one we survive that's all we do nothign we have no role to play so if there was a god what would be his meaning creating a worthless race of creatures isn't a reason to survive unless the race you created has a purpose.

  • well said

  • This movie still scares me, one of the best horror films i've ever seen.

  • Great montage tribute to one of the scariest movies ever made for TV! Great to watch on Halloween!

  • Scared the shit out of me this film.

  • one of the best fuck ing horror movies ever

  • Still one of my favorite movies of all time, though, to me, Barlow reminded me of an updated look of Nosferatu.

  • fer fucks sake dont open the fuckin window

  • that cant make horrors for shit nowadays, salem's lot very scary and brilliant

  • Could it just be that "The Master" is just misunderstood? I mean, if he's a compatriot of Stryker (James Mason) then he might just have poor diet habits and bad dentistry. Quite common for over here and certainly not deserving of getting a wooden stake through the heart.

  • James Mason's cool demeaner and that English accent scared the piss out of me. And that frickin' vampire? Are you kidding me? Those yellow eyes were straight out of hell. I had nightmares from that guy. Best movie vampire.

  • "Yes" Indeed! They don't get much better than this or scarier.

  • In my opinion, the best vampire movie ever made.

  • i remember the original tv mini series ....and as a kid that scared me big time..even now this film still terrifies me not one for late night on your own in the dark hahaha...thanks for posting it ..peace

  • This is the only movie that STILL scares me.

'Put down the cross, face the Master.'

Got to love this movie, scariest ever.

  • I've only ever seen two films that scared me.

    "Look at me....teacher."

    Poetry....

  • Fred Willard was in the original Salem's Lot and he often works with the naturally lobotomized Martin Mull (like on their old show Fernwood 2Night). Mull admitted in a 1978 Newsweek interview that he (Mull) never yelled in reallife! Count yourself as normal if you do on occasion!

  • Salem's Lot and The Exorcist are 2 of the SCARIEST films ever - these films are genuinely scary.

  • I totally agree with you.

  • @Ram139

    Thank You !!! :-)

  • A movie so good they released it in Movie theaters in some countries.

  • horror films these days rarely scare, though i did find the ring creepy..and the exorcism of emily rose.

  • i liked the ring movies but ididnt find them scary at all

  • its stupid but then when you watch it real close its like ohhhh shit!!!!

  • still the scariest film ever

  • That's what I tell people about my boss.

    "DON'T LOOK AT HIM!!"

  • People bitch about Old Horror vs New Horror all the time. I have yet to see the Saw movies, and I'm in no hurry to. I will say that the Oldies took their time building up tension and suspense. They were very stylish as well. Most vampire movies tend to be erotic and a bit cheesy. Not that there's anything wrong with that! But vampires belong in nightmares, and this movie puts them there.

  • The original is much better, same with most remakes of other films. It's watchable but the new one just hasn't got the creepy charm of the old film. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think films are as well crafted these days, just too much mindless action & dizzy effects.

  • No its not you, trust me. Films these days are about blood and guts, not true scare effects. ie- In the Salem's Lot (remake) Dr. Jim Cody died by falling on top of a moving table saw blade. YUCK! This is just one example. Too bad we can't get some more horror in the classic style. Here's hoping I guess.

  • I much like the new version of the Thing in the 80s better than the original movie

  • Yes, J.Carpenters 80's The Thing movie was good in parts but overall a bit disappointing I thought,I liked his original The Fog film a lot better, haven't seen the remake yet.

  • Trust me, the remake sucks.

  • yeah the remake pukes big time, love this film,i have mr barlow tattoed on my arm

  • Dude, are you serious? You have the Master tat on your arm????

  • yeah,love vampires,have three vamp tattos

  • @BlackieGirl

    there is a remake?

    when did it come out?

  • I somewhat agree w/ you. John Carpenter's film The Thing is a very good Sci-Fi shocker. The Fog is a great concept for a horror movie-original not a cheesy rehash of an original. That church scene in the last 5 minutes of the movie, those phantom-pirates w/ fiery eyes, that scene is so scary & nightmarish!

  • Lord Voldemort XD!

  • love this film ever since i saw it as a kid !!! they should have done a follow up with david soul again !!

  • That Blue Vampire is gonna give me nightmares forever :(

  • Reggie nalder is SCARY as barlow. this guy gave me some nightmares when I saw this for the first time. the scene where he pops up in ned's cell! the stuff of many nightmares indeed.

  • You took the words out of my mouth. If Barlow's face doesn't give you nightmares I doubt anything would. I'm almost 40, and this face still creeps me out.

  • I agree with you,I turned 40 in Dec & I'm still sleeping with the light on because of Barlow!

  • tht blue faced vamp with two front fangs realy creeped me out lol

  • Those creepy little Glick boys!!!!!

  • 00:48 What a neat - and lively - main title!

  • saw this first time round in 79 (when i was 6)

its still the scariest movie ever made,

    well done with the trailer

  • Nicely Done. I love this film. The new version ain't a scratch on this one. This Film is the best Horror Film In my opinion anyway.

  • NAAAAA the new ones really good to along with this one stephan kings got it all

  • I agree. The remake of Salem's Lot might have been more faithful to the novel, but it was nowhere near as scary. The original was a classic horror film all the way.

  • Well Said. I wish they had done a making of the old one. Donald Sutherland wasn't a scratch on James Mason as Straker. No offence to Rob Lowe but he wasn't as good as David Soul either. I think the New one might appeal more to younger generations Im saying that and im only 21.lol but the old one is classic and always will be.

  • Exactly what I was thinking about Donald Sutherland. Sutherland is a terrific actor, but I did't like him as Straker. This was no fault of his though, the writers made his character a goofball unlike how Straker was in the novel. Mason was a much more classy and distinguished villain. If that makes any sense?

  • I know what you mean yeah. I liked Sutherland in Lock Up so as you said the writers made his charactor like a goofball. And I tell you what else ruined it for me in the new one was when Mike Ryerson was Burying Danny Glick with a JCB. Come on like ain't it. Where in the old with the music and the wind Where Mike (Geoffrey Lewis) was filling the whole was creepy like

  • Sutherland in the remake was laughable. He acted like he needed to take his medicine or something.

  • lol. The writers ruind it.

  • @CE05LDB lol

  • excellent film

  • glad your enjoying it,i know it,s kerwin just a slip of the keyboard ok.

  • LOVE IT!! The film AND your trailer. EXCELLENT JOB!! "You'll enjoy Mr. Barlow...and he'll enjoy you!". The line that also stuck in my head after seeing this film. Rest in Peace, James Mason.

  • scariest movie ever made, that lead vampire just shits me up

  • I just loved this movie i loved all the scenes of the fanged one lol thanx totalteeth. regards indigigal
