It doesn't show up in this 'montage', but the reason why Ben Mears can't properly close the door of his jeep from the outside is because the door has a mechanism to close the door from the inside, which one can see early on in the production, when Ben Mears gets into his jeep at night outside the Marsden House.
I'm a teenage girl and haven't even watched Twilight or read the books (though I daresay the books are better than the film; most of the girls who fantasize about the pretty-boys in Twilight haven't even read a book in their lives). Seriously, Stephen King is my kinda horror. The old scary films are the best; nowadays it's hard to be original and even harder to keep from cliche. Tobe Hooper+Stephen King, perfect match ^^ x
In the book Mr. Barlow is not like this. He has a moustache and slick black hair, plus he talks suave and is much more attractive..... But everything else in this movie is just like in the book.
The lead vampire in this movie/book novel was no handsome, suave, smooth talking type "Dracula" like in other movies(1992 Bram Stroker's "Dracula" or 1979's "Dracula"or for today's young generation's "Twilight").He's a tribute(or is) to the German's 1922,"Nosferatu".

This mini series (2 parts) was on tv when I was 17. It was scary like hell, but I watched it all. The girl at front of my place came to watch it with me and at the first scary scene she remembered she did not do her homeworks. Did I ever teased her the day after :) Still one of my favorite mini-series.

@jimmynorton1001 I agree. The original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is a great horror film, but the second one was awful. Which is ironic, because usually sequels suck because they're not made by the original director.
@jimmynorton1001 Very true, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and this film proves just that fact. However' Poltergeist absolutely sucked to the point of oblivion.

Could it just be that "The Master" is just misunderstood? I mean, if he's a compatriot of Stryker (James Mason) then he might just have poor diet habits and bad dentistry. Quite common for over here and certainly not deserving of getting a wooden stake through the heart.

Fred Willard was in the original Salem's Lot and he often works with the naturally lobotomized Martin Mull (like on their old show Fernwood 2Night). Mull admitted in a 1978 Newsweek interview that he (Mull) never yelled in reallife! Count yourself as normal if you do on occasion!
People bitch about Old Horror vs New Horror all the time. I have yet to see the Saw movies, and I'm in no hurry to. I will say that the Oldies took their time building up tension and suspense. They were very stylish as well. Most vampire movies tend to be erotic and a bit cheesy. Not that there's anything wrong with that! But vampires belong in nightmares, and this movie puts them there.
The original is much better, same with most remakes of other films. It's watchable but the new one just hasn't got the creepy charm of the old film. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think films are as well crafted these days, just too much mindless action & dizzy effects.
No its not you, trust me. Films these days are about blood and guts, not true scare effects. ie- In the Salem's Lot (remake) Dr. Jim Cody died by falling on top of a moving table saw blade. YUCK! This is just one example. Too bad we can't get some more horror in the classic style. Here's hoping I guess.
Yes, J.Carpenters 80's The Thing movie was good in parts but overall a bit disappointing I thought,I liked his original The Fog film a lot better, haven't seen the remake yet.
I somewhat agree w/ you. John Carpenter's film The Thing is a very good Sci-Fi shocker. The Fog is a great concept for a horror movie-original not a cheesy rehash of an original. That church scene in the last 5 minutes of the movie, those phantom-pirates w/ fiery eyes, that scene is so scary & nightmarish!
Reggie nalder is SCARY as barlow. this guy gave me some nightmares when I saw this for the first time. the scene where he pops up in ned's cell! the stuff of many nightmares indeed.
You took the words out of my mouth. If Barlow's face doesn't give you nightmares I doubt anything would. I'm almost 40, and this face still creeps me out.
I agree. The remake of Salem's Lot might have been more faithful to the novel, but it was nowhere near as scary. The original was a classic horror film all the way.
Well Said. I wish they had done a making of the old one. Donald Sutherland wasn't a scratch on James Mason as Straker. No offence to Rob Lowe but he wasn't as good as David Soul either. I think the New one might appeal more to younger generations Im saying that and im only 21.lol but the old one is classic and always will be.
Exactly what I was thinking about Donald Sutherland. Sutherland is a terrific actor, but I did't like him as Straker. This was no fault of his though, the writers made his character a goofball unlike how Straker was in the novel. Mason was a much more classy and distinguished villain. If that makes any sense?
I know what you mean yeah. I liked Sutherland in Lock Up so as you said the writers made his charactor like a goofball. And I tell you what else ruined it for me in the new one was when Mike Ryerson was Burying Danny Glick with a JCB. Come on like ain't it. Where in the old with the music and the wind Where Mike (Geoffrey Lewis) was filling the whole was creepy like
LOVE IT!! The film AND your trailer. EXCELLENT JOB!! "You'll enjoy Mr. Barlow...and he'll enjoy you!". The line that also stuck in my head after seeing this film. Rest in Peace, James Mason.
Still think these are the scariest vampires.

The original is much better, same with most remakes of other films. It's watchable but the new one just hasn't got the creepy charm of the old film. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think films are as well crafted these days, just too much mindless action & dizzy effects.
onemorethingsir 4 years ago 4
No its not you, trust me. Films these days are about blood and guts, not true scare effects. ie- In the Salem's Lot (remake) Dr. Jim Cody died by falling on top of a moving table saw blade. YUCK! This is just one example. Too bad we can't get some more horror in the classic style. Here's hoping I guess.

I much like the new version of the Thing in the 80s better than the original movie
edward18517 3 years ago 3
Yes, J.Carpenters 80's The Thing movie was good in parts but overall a bit disappointing I thought,I liked his original The Fog film a lot better, haven't seen the remake yet.

Trust me, the remake sucks.

@BlackieGirl
there is a remake?
when did it come out?

I somewhat agree w/ you. John Carpenter's film The Thing is a very good Sci-Fi shocker. The Fog is a great concept for a horror movie-original not a cheesy rehash of an original. That church scene in the last 5 minutes of the movie, those phantom-pirates w/ fiery eyes, that scene is so scary & nightmarish!

You took the words out of my mouth. If Barlow's face doesn't give you nightmares I doubt anything would. I'm almost 40, and this face still creeps me out.

I agree with you,I turned 40 in Dec & I'm still sleeping with the light on because of Barlow!

NAAAAA the new ones really good to along with this one stephan kings got it all
dragonbreed07 4 years ago
I agree. The remake of Salem's Lot might have been more faithful to the novel, but it was nowhere near as scary. The original was a classic horror film all the way.
DBarns7 4 years ago 3
CE05LDB 4 years ago 4
Exactly what I was thinking about Donald Sutherland. Sutherland is a terrific actor, but I did't like him as Straker. This was no fault of his though, the writers made his character a goofball unlike how Straker was in the novel. Mason was a much more classy and distinguished villain. If that makes any sense?
DBarns7 4 years ago 2
I know what you mean yeah. I liked Sutherland in Lock Up so as you said the writers made his charactor like a goofball. And I tell you what else ruined it for me in the new one was when Mike Ryerson was Burying Danny Glick with a JCB. Come on like ain't it. Where in the old with the music and the wind Where Mike (Geoffrey Lewis) was filling the whole was creepy like
CE05LDB 4 years ago
Sutherland in the remake was laughable. He acted like he needed to take his medicine or something.
Deavi783 4 years ago 4
lol. The writers ruind it.

LOVE IT!! The film AND your trailer. EXCELLENT JOB!! "You'll enjoy Mr. Barlow...and he'll enjoy you!". The line that also stuck in my head after seeing this film. Rest in Peace, James Mason.
