neither Ponting nor Ishant have been the same since then.. Ponting since then has lost form woefully only to regain it against India while Ishant Sharma completely lost the inswinger to create fear amongst the batsman with the eventual outswinger.
This bloke has to be the unluckiest bowler I've seen! Even in this Test, which was his breakout match, he ended up with only three wickets. He is so much better than his career statistics show. 133 Test wickets at 37.87. I'm an Aussie so I've only ever seen him in two series (07/08 tour and 11/12), but from what I've seen it seems he continuously bowls well without luck. Thoughts?
@FRESHAZZZZZ I think he is unlucky as wel but in saying that he constantly bowling back of a lenght and taking 2 dismissals away for him self bowled and LBW when he learns to pitch it up he'll get more wickets with out a doubt and is more consistent with his lengths. 07/08 tour and this one he did fall away badly and was out of the team for about a year and only made a come back last year against the West Indies i think but he's definitely picked up in pace since then but lost his swing.
@FRESHAZZZZZ Ya i agree somewhat with you. I believe that it is the run up which is killing it all for him. He always seems to be confused by the time he is ready to release the ball. From the time he started playing his run ups have changed many many times, which is not allowing him to bowl in a smooth flow.
I enjoy watching this kid bowl. He bowls with fire and aggression. He obviously hasn't had a good summer here in Oz, but I like seeing competitor in him. He isn't scared of the batsman, and doesn't mind confrontation.
@731warrior yeh dhoni is a complete moron- One eyed and defensive, only focussed on ODIs. Doubt he'll be test captain for much longer tho- hopefully Ishant rediscovers form, he's only 23. If he can't take wickets in Perth tho, he's in trouble
Absolutely right. Captains are allowed to make mistakes, they are only human. But a good captain can learn and adapt. Dhoni has no idea what that means. We need a captain like Ganguly who is aggressive and makes the team play like champions.
ponting was ishant's bitch

i doubt Sharma wants to be remembered just for a spell of bowling, but apart from this he hasn't done much else!

@0zziefan He bowled extremely well, but without luck in the 2012 tour of Aus.

his rhythm is much worse now

@rohitrez
It's so painful to watch him bowl now. A shadow of his former self, also Dhoni's pathetic field placements don't help his confidence either

@rohitrez he doesn't swing the ball as much
thecorneredtigers11 1 month ago
@rohitrez He isn't even bowling that bad. Over 140 every ball and touching 150. Dhoni doesn't know how to set fields that's all.

Nice!! Both Ishant & Ponting have diminished greatly since this contest at Perth. It will be interesting to see Ishant Vs Ponting II.
