Sorry for such a stupid question but how did you get the video off the XO and onto YouTube? Ubergeeky details OK, I'm just not familiar enough with the XO to figure it out.
wow you have a lot of time on your hands. I really appreciate you making this video.
those microscopes are pretty useful for inspecting the color of the trichome heads on my marijuana plants to determine whether or not they are ready for harvest.
What kind of Thinkpad is that? I think I have seen diagonal lines going across a standard X31 XGA display before when viewed from certain angles... is it possible that they have same kind of screen as the OLPC?
hi all, here are some more details. I used an $1 microscope that I bought on ebay. It's 60-100X, I duck-tapes it onto the screen and used the now hi-res video camera. attached are pictures of the simple optics (I need to find a way to attach pictures. They are just two small plastic lenses.
It's a nice transitionary technology before epaper becomes prevalent. I just get the feeling that we will be stuck with LCD screens for a while though while companies milk it for all its worth.
but, Will It Blend?

This was just what I was looking for, a comparsion of a standard laptop screen and the OX screen.
I'm quite pleased that it was possible to do that with this simple modification of the XO itself.
Did You disassemble Your XO-camera for that purpose or did You use a second OX?

nice job! Can you make some more tests, like on water as you suggested, hair and maybe leaves?
I like the idea! Although it may be better for to have a microscope that is detached from the frame, this is a great little tool!

ePaper (at least the version in the Amazon Kindle) has a slower response time, OK for eBooks but not animation or fast motion.
