@KanjiKeith We make the same mistakes, ask the same question when we dont understand things, pronounce words very similar. I have never heard another white guy around my age speak chinese, I think it is really cool though :DD

how can you learn to copy 'complicated' speaking if you never hear it?
This is actually an advantage, in my opinion, to have the conversation partner who doesn't slow down. Why does she speak that way? I think it is because of my pronunciation. She is not reminded that she is speaking to a learner of her language when she hears me speak.
