Awesome vid,so do you think Michael pulled it off ? I personally think it's a masterpiece of a score and Michael's best score yet(And that's saying something)
@FFYears the score has grown on me. My expectations were a little high so it was going to be near impossible to meet them. It was very " Lost" sounding, I really didn't expect that but it worked effectively for the film. "The Incredibles" still stands as my favorite Michael score. For my true Williams fix I'm anticipating TinTin to be a treat. The score is getting great early reviews
*Spoilers* But does anyone know what is the name of the music score used at the end of the film as soon as Joe lets go of his mothers necklace? It's at the moment the alien takes off. It's like a slow relaxing melody. Im looking everyone for the name of that score. Someone HELP!
@fgray78 Did you read the video description or watch the first 10 seconds of the video? It explains why this is not Giacchino, this video was made long before any music was released from the film with the purpose of discussing the type of sound Super 8 should have if it were to effectively emulate the 70's/80's Spielberg feel that Abrams was going for. That's why the title for the video is "Super 8 Score IDEAS".
First of all, Michael Giacchino has never written a score in the style of John Williams; part of what makes Michael Giacchino's scores so interesting to listen to is because he creates wonderful themes to listen to and has a unique voice in the scoring techniques he uses.
The score to "Super 8" worked fantastically for the film itself and had its own special character among Giacchino's other scores; I'm looking forward to hearing it by itself in its entirety when the soundtrack is released.
@EyeC217 "Michael Giacchino has never written a score in the style of John Williams" Go listen to any of his Video game work especially Medal of Honor. I think they are very similar to his Williams work (Indiana Jones/Saving Private Ryan). Either way I love what they both do and am looking forward to Giacchino's score for this film.
hey, the official super 8 theme conducted by mikey g. is now on the super 8 movie website. as soon as you get on the web, music starts playing. thats the theme. it sounds very good after listening to it a few times.
If you're expecting John Williams you will be disappointed. That said Giachino is very much a John Williams student the score reminds me a lot of Lost.
The 1st track is from Trinity and Beyond its a great documentary from the 90's composed by William Stromberg. The 2nd track is The Poseidon Adventure.
HEY OP U STUPID!!!! COLOSSAL FAILURE

I expect that Giacchino can wrote something based on his Cloverfield material, except for the female soloists.

0.40 is William Stromberg's "perilous seas" track from his promo CD. Sorry man, he's not John Williams.
