  • That's funny about the translator microbes explanation- they mess that up right in the second episode of the series, when they land on an Earth-like planet, and the natives understand them. C. couldn't understand his new shipmates before the injection.

  • @greengrendel YES, thank you!

  • My hearts are private places. Stay out of them.

  • Exactly how I feel now: fed up of perfect people... :) thanks Farscape! I don't feel that bad now... :)

  • your implanted with the translator microbes at birth, no matter what species you are, and i think you guys are starting to get into Stargate SG-1, this is different, no one speaks English in Farscape, the translator microbes allow you to understand other languages, that's why your implanted with them at birth

  • @100Trekkie no, no, no it is universal translaters built into every television set and computer speaker.

  • wow, thats the girl from the descent, the one that plays juno.

  • YAH! XD

    Crichton vs the giant lobster

  • Man, the island girl is quite attractive heh

  • This makes no sense. Either these people are sophisticated enough for translator microbes (unlikely) or they speak English (impossible). : /

  • Or it could just be the writers of a SciFi TV series =P

  • Haha, yeah. But it makes sense later in the episode so it's okay. I was just confused at first.

  • I'd thought of that too. There were other episodes where that problem exists, like the one where they have to land on that Louisiana-esque planet to dampen a beacon, and the inhabitants there can communicate fine.

  • Unless... Unless the translator microbes work in such a way that they can make your brain both understand AND speak a language when necessary.

  • I thought of that too. That wouldnt work though, because then in the pilot when d'argo grabs crichton and starts yelling at him for information, crichton cant understand him.

i think now that i've seen the rest of the episode i could say that the microbes can be passed down genetically... maybe?

but that still wouldnt explain the planet in I E.T... unless english is a species thing, so all humanoid species end up developing it or something close enough to it that crighton can be understood.

  • Nah, English can't be a species thing, because then all of Earth would speak English. I guess it's just a plot hole then.

  • sometimes it's okay to not over analyze a sci fi series.

almost all of them make a mistake at some point.

    still a good episode.

  • Perhaps every humanoid planet has sort of the same languages as the ones on Earth.Maybe all of Earth's languages, resemble languages on other humanoid planets.

  • Translator...microbes
