3 gallons of water (clearly you are not a fish keeper) is barely enough for one betta much less three rather large goldfish ... goldfish are one of the more messy fish and it is suggested 10 gallons per goldfish ... while this looks interesting, it would be more interesting if it were properly stocked ... because as stocked, it is just killing those fish slowly and why, cuz it looks interesting, that is cruel ...

1 Goldfish needs 25 Gallons. They and Koi grow to be enormous. In the video there are no rocks or substrate for the beneficial bacteria to grow in so the nitrogen cycle that keeps the fish alive cannot happen. Also the average 17 year old kid at Petco knows nothing about fish, they are just there to be able to pay their cell phone bill. How do I know? I am a Marine Biology student at MSU with a minor in Envriomental Biology.

Nice DIY. Cool use for a water jug and interesting application of the hang on back filter. But you've got too many fish in the tank. Goldfish are very dirty fish and require much more gallonage per fish than most other fish. Unfortunately that tank's only suitable for one of those fish and not for it's entire life as it will outgrow the tank. I'd recommend rehoming two of the fish or making another tank for them. You could also convert the tank to tropical by adding a heater and fish.

There are many types of goldfish. I have shubunkins and comets, they grow pretty big and not a good idea using them in fish tanks, they crap way to much!. Plus they need lots of space and oxygenated water. They do better in ponds.. I have a 1500g pond and about 40 goldfish big and small. The ones u have in that jug look like the goldfish I have, so u probably need a bigger tank. I would recommend smaller tetras in that thing. I keep small glofish and X-ray fish in my inside 25g tank.

In the usa two goldfish need 20 gallons but in Australia a goldfish need a gallon and half each(5 liters). Lucky my 4 goldfish have a 500 L tank. No, it's not big enough for goldfish. But it is amazing nonetheless! Good use of resources. I'd stick it with a species that doesn't exceed 4" though, and find a safe way to add a heater. Otherwise it looks pretty serviceable, especially for a breeding colony of feeder guppies or something like that. Ideas like this save people $ and I don't really know why there are so many negative comments in here for such an efficient setup.

I see nothing wrong with this, this is the same concept as keeping goldfish/ bettas in a bowl. Only his is better, they have a filter thing that keeps the water moving. I would suggest some rocks at the bottom with a couple plants but this still wasn't a bad idea.

Well this is a pretty good idea if it's a quarantine tank.......meaning your fish won't be in there very long. It is way better than a bowl (anything with filtration is...) but ultimately this won't suit your fish once they start growing to six...ten....thirteen inches long. :)
